yeah angle grinding and weld spatter...
i think i need a new lens :)
But i want a new light anyway...LED or so....a cold light...this one heats up too much and you can´t touch it .... and the dirt which flies on the light starts to smoke....

With all that angle grinding there can't be much left of the Monte Carlo :D

:lol_hitti:lol:
i grind 1/2 off the sheet metal so the car becomes lighter = less fuel consumption :D ;)

Here are some of my recent acquisitions:
Some old Wiha hard handle screwdrivers
and Knipex snap ring pliers.
They were in an old hardware shop and had been on display for maybe 20 to 30 years. The cardboard card was faded to illegibility and the plastic was all yellow. The cool thing is, I paid the 20 year old price too. They were roughly $9.00 US each for the knipex and between $2.00 and $4.50 US for the screwdrivers. There's even an awl with a wooden handle.
I can't resist those cold war era W. German tools!:D

The NWS pliers are contemporary.

Gedore 1B -Very unusual design: tons of offset on these. On the open end they look like Belzer, which are like the old Williams Superrench open end. Cool, cool, cool.

Hazet 603 metric- full 27 piece set up to 41mm.

:+1: The reason I got the 1B too. That style of open end is just so cool. :rocker:

That's a serious set of 603s! Up to 41mm! That tool roll says Spero. I've seen those wrenches locally. The box ends are unique in that they have cap stops, so that a nut/bolt heads "catches". Is it a common brand there?

Thanks for the scans !!!! :pimpflash:rocker:

Here, some more. :)

It's to help so the chrome does'nt chip on the cutting edges

Interesting. Not doubting what you're saying, but how is that meant to work? I would have guessed it would make it worse -offering more corners/edges from which to chip.

I've only got 4pcs. of those Gedore 1B. -17,19,21 & 29mm. I wish I had the whole set. The extreme offset makes it very difficult to fit them in a tool roll, though.

The Hazet 603s aren't available in all of those large sizes anymore. They were old stock from an old hardware store that used to be a Hazet dealer back in the 80's.

For Spero brand tools. No. I've actually never seen those for sale in Taiwan. I think that they're like Toptul, export only. I just special ordered an empty 26 pocket tool roll from a hardware store and that's what came.:dunno:

I think the "teeth" on the edges of the cutters are to keep the item being cut from spitting out the front due to the open angle of the cutters. I have scissors like that.

That was sort of what I was thinking. Odd thought that Knipex don't seem to make any mention of the feature on the website's product description.

Wow! That is amazing! :rocker:

What is it you like about the 600 0ver the 603? Is it just the length? How about a side-by-side of one of the popular sizes so we can see the difference?

I think I have the same tiles in my kitchen. Unfortunately the same spanners are not in my kitchen.

If I give you the spanners, will you give me your kitchen?:bounce:

Here's the Hazet comparison. For the 600 series I only have inch sizes, so I used the 9/16 as a proxy for a 14mm. The size is pretty close. The 600 and 600N are the same length, but the 600 is a bit thicker and heavier. You can see how much shorter the 603 is.

Hazets are an expensive addiction:drunk:

You may find it strange, but Toptul is not readily available in Taiwan. It's all for direct export. You have to order it from a wholesaler. Toptul does not directly market here at all.

I've been wondering about this; Export to where? They don't seem to have much of a market in the UK/Europe, or North America, nor to be trying very hard for their share. Australia or elsewhere in Asia perhaps?

Their catalogue is fairly comprehensive, so they must be selling tools somewhere for it to be worth the effort.

Those factory pics are cool. I'll probably tour the Hazet factory next summer.

Here are a couple cheap eBay pick ups. These will replace wrenches in my cars factory tool kit. I wanted Stahlwille because they are freakishly light.

Force is a different story.
You can buy Force everywhere in Taiwan.
My friend has a repair shop and he has quite a few Force items and they seem to be holding up well.

What's the brand image of Force in other countries?

interesting! at least in Costa Rica, and in many Latin American countries Force has a large market presence, from my perspective is a tool to affordable price and decent quality, although not compared with premium brands from USA or Europe, but in my country if a tool fail no exists great advantage in terms of lifetime warranty.

Guys what do you think about this vise?
I need something big and forged steel, but I'm also on tight budget.
Shop says it's made by Kanca but I can't find this model on their website.

Well, I've never heard of the name, but the fact it doesn't have replaceable jaw inserts doesn't exactly lead to a sense of longevity.
Can't you pick up an old York? There's tons of used ones in this part of the world going for little money.

I would assume that their main business is OEM for other big brands. And they're slowly trying to build their own brand. So the first step is to built a complete line.
Generally, Taiwanese companies are not very good at marketing their own brands. Just look at the name: Toptul. That's just a really dumb name.:wtf:

Yes, that's about the same here: decent quality at an affordable price.

It's too bad Toptul doesn't sell local but does the Rotar group sell another brand on the island, if they do I hope it is of the same quality as the Toptul stuff I have is really good.

I think this vise may be made in Turkey. It seems similar to many other vises currently available in Europe, from FZA and others in Italy, for example. If so, quality is OK, but if you are in Poland, I wonder if there are any of these around anymore? ;)
This vise was made in Poland sometime in the 70's by FUP. I found it in the alley behind a machine shop in about 1979 or so. It was already well used--and abused--by then.
It's a monster with 150mm jaws and weighs about 50kg. I had to make some parts for it that were missing, but this vise served me well for many years. The Lion (my wife) moved it into the cellar for storage many years ago. I had to ask her to remember where it was, so we could photograph it. It was DUSTY!
Somebody told me that many of these vises were exported to the former USSR, but you maybe should look around for something similar, since they were made there. Sometimes older is better, and if you can find it, you will be glad you spent some time looking around. So I say "keep shopping!" But whatever you end up with, be sure to show us what you find!
Yeah, there are tons of these around(I've got big one, and two smaller), problem is that they all are cast iron, which I don't want. ;) Today best polish vises are made by http://www.bison-bial.pl/, but again all cast iron. There are very few used imported vises(even Czech York) for sale, because almost everyone has polish one.:D
Maybe I'll try to search in Germany, but shipping a vise over 30kg could be expensive here. New Leinen, Dolex, Heuer are 3x price of Kanca. :Twitch:

Damn, I was looking at www.kanca.com.tr and could't find it.
Thanks!

In the Netherlands it is not mainstream, but it has its presence here.

So... now we are two members who want to know about Golden City (not the Aztec lost city, or whatever...);)

Still haven't found anything on this brand.

Nice!
Does this dealer have a website?

I would like to know too.

Today best polish vises are made by http://www.bison-bial.pl/, but again all cast iron.

Isn't Bison-Bial the new name for FPIU?

I suppose this particular model Kanca you're after has been discontinued by Kanca? Can't find it in their latest catalogue. Their entry offering seems to be the Kadett, a Durlach/Matador/Ridgid/... style vice with the adjusting gibs on the upper side of the slide.
As for quality, a cousin of mine has their K2 - Heuer Front style - and looks to me to be of very high quality.

I would like to know too.

Yes he does. Nothing fancy but here it is:

http://www.lek-info.de/Ko-ken-Werkzeuge/1,000000436683,8,1

and there is a online shop too,

http://mw.eshop.t-online.de/

but not all the tools are in there. I gave him a call and he told me I can order everything from the catalog. He gets the tools from the eurpean distribution center in Luxemburg.
Only the 1/4 drive wobble spinner and the 3/8 Z-Series Torx where not in stock, everything else was here within a week.

I found some old world stuff this weekend. Now if someone could tell me what the Hazet cup holder is really for.....

The vintage knipex are interesting with one round and one flat jaw. This is a new design to me.

I don't run across too many german made Craftsman tools so I thought I would share this one

You guys just continue to amaze me - great photos, and many brands i´ve never heard of before. I´ll continue with hammers:

View media item 25426Danish made carpenters hammers. Although they look identical, these are different brands; From top: DSI (Dansk stål industri = Danish steel industry), Sprehn & son, DSI and Zinck. This design is quite special for Denmark i think, Swedish hammers looks different (They are more like pen ball type), but since nearly all danish toolfactories are closed, a type like these can be found in the Peddinghaus (germany) catalogue. I guess Swedish "Tor" brand features a danish style hammer too. They sort of won the scandinavian hammer market, and now when we even have a bridge connecting Sweden and Denmark, they might feel obliged...

View media item 25425All these are from DSI. Joiners (woodworking) hammers, the weight is indexed in class 1, 2 and 3. The shafts are in ash.

View media item 25424
View media item 25423
View media item 25420Not much branding here...it´s like "what letters do we have in the drawer today?"

View media item 25419Typical fastening with one wedge in hardwood or steel, needs a slap for tightening now and then...

View media item 25418Some of my German hammers, Wisent from Bauhaus store (Habero), Peddinghaus and Habero "nearly Danish style". German ring-wedge and hickory shafts, steel re-enforcement around the head. Is there any better way to make a hammer? I don´t think so...

View media item 25417Habero, Peddinhaus soft face and Habero. The Habero to the right side is the only one I bought as new, so it has been used a lot - for 20 years or so. Others from local fleemarkets.
COO isn´t required here in Denmark, so you got to pick your tools carefully...
Is COO a demand by law in the US?

Sorry, but this one is off topic - Snap On welding hammer. I have searched the web for old catalogues but couldn´t find this type.
View media item 25415Truly American - "Always wear safety gogles, helmet and fasten your seatbelt - and don´t do drugs" on the shaft.

View media item 25414The shaft used to be a little longer, but at a price of 10 DKK (1½ US$) it was a bargain...

OK, thats all for this time...
Cheers
