Helek Vernier Caliper. Swapmeet purchase. 0.002 off at the end of the jaws. Typical wear. Dead nuts toward the center.
I don't use it too much. The fine adjuster seems like a fix out of aluminum. I'll make a proper adjuster out of stainless some day.

These just came in today! :D Decided to go with the 600N's over the Gedore.

Excellent choice!
They're my favorite wrenches too. You're going to love them.
Definitely the best general purpose combination wrenches out there.

But just to make sure that you made the right decision, you should get a set of the the Gedore 1B's and the Stahlwille 14's:evil:

old Metabo advertisements from the 1960´s
"Men have Metabo !"

...and one from Bosch:

Monte, i will look into my old magazines, to find some danish examples of the opposite picture, 80´s ads showing "the soft man" with pibe and hotpants..

Bahco to a certain extent is, or at least was, a premium brand for woodworking tools. They used to be the go to company for the cabinet scrapers used by woodworkers. I haven't actually seen a dedicated woodworking store in the USA that even carries the Bahco EX saws. Most places that list them seem to be industrial supply places that just list most Bahco stuff.

I think that Bahco still has a good reputation here in Scandinavia. The local Bauhaus shop has recent opened a large Bahco section. But since they moved most production to Spain, Portugal, Argentina and Russia, i find them to be too expensive, their COO in mind...for me, it´s Bahco made in Sweden or no interest, to put it frankly.

Regarding Bauhaus (my local kindergarten...)...The Matador mystery continues...
View media item 29291Two of some wrenches bought yesterday (all with genuine matador-labels) from the Matador display...one marked Matador, but no Germany - maybe from HR India (I have seen HR wrenches with Matador labels before!).

But then, looking closer:
View media item 29290Printed, not forged, a very blurry, hidden by the label - "Wisent" - Bauhaus private brand  - So Wisent used to be German Matador then?

Some "bone style" double ring wrenches:
View media item 29287
Two of them are stamped Matador, made in Germany...but then the third:
View media item 29289This one is definately not forged by Matador - the shaft is a different style and missing the name - but it´s made in Germany
The wrenches of same size, beneath on the hanger, was the more glossy, new style - not made in Germany...
Must go there again soon to get the last German Matadors...

I think it would be a waste to supplement the Hazet 600N with Gedore 1B or Stahlwille 14. I'd probably get Stahlwille 13 for all the duplicate sizes.

Ko-ken RS2305M/11 1/4" drive deep 12-point socket set. Used the 10 mm earlier on the missus' car.

Also got this Fuller 3½" vice, actually a re-brand of a Nabeya Eron E-181 model. Made in Japan.

Here's a really nice set of Lobster brand combination wrenches I got recently.
Lobster is a very old Japanese brand probably most famous for their pliers but these wrenches are really cool.:rocker: (Most Japanese hand wrenches are very plain looking with raised panels like Craftsman.)
These are different. They have a unique style and pebbly pattern finish. The shape of the shank is very ergonomic and the heads are slim enough to fit in tight spaces. Top notch quality and didn't cost an arm and a leg.
These wrenches are really growing on me.

Thanks for posting this, really nice spanners. I've been contemplating between getting a set of these, or Tone MS-100 and Asahi Revowave. However, with everyone posting Hazet 600N's ...

Second only to Pebble Plvmb visually. Full of envy over here.

I'm not too familiar with Plvmb, but thank you! :)

Craftsman vs. Hazet..... das ist eine leichte Entscheidung ;)

Let's do it! :p

Very nice !!

The Hazet 600N and Heyco Maxline are the best combined wrenches in my opinion, followed by GEDORE 1B and Stahlwille No.13 & No.15.

Thank you! I haven't had the chance to use them yet... I did notice they do leave a sparkly tiny specks all over your hands... must be the power of the wrench transferring to my hands... :D They do feel really good in the hand and are lightyears ahead of my old Craftsman set.

Excellent choice!

Re: 610n/8 rs

now hazet is making them with a "life" profile??
Yes, you're right.
When did Hazet start using the "Tractionsprofil" (Traction Profile) on the 610N?
My 610N is a standard type profile.
Before, just the 600N and the sockets had the Traction Profile.
The 603, 625, and 630 still don't have it.

I found this Facom hammer in a misc box of tools at an auction about a month ago.

I don't recognize the oddball design. Can anybody tell me what it is used for. Other than "hitting things!" :lol_hitti

It does say 'France' on the other side of the handle. On the bottom of the head the number 32 is cast into it.

Are the Facom locking pliers of European origin or did they move to Asia with some of the other production? What's the preferred European source for locking pliers anyway? Grip On?

Cool! so traction profile is Hazet's term for flankdrive.

Nice hammer! (Wish I had one like it...) I'm quite partial to cross-peins of all sorts.

It's a 'French pattern' hammer. I believe this is one of those hammer shapes that is more of an expression of regional and historical development than it is a specialist hammer for any specific task. If you search for French pattern hammers you'll see some blacksmiths use them, but the same can be said of German, Czech, or Swedish pattern hammers as well. And it looks to me like it's sold to various mechanical and machinist trades, as well.

That's a French pattern cross pein hammer. (a normal cross pein hammer is symmetrical)
The Facom catalog calls that a riveting hammer or a joiner's hammer. The one you have is a riveting hammer and the part number if you can read it will start with a 200.
Other manufacturers make this pattern like Peddinghaus, Picard and Gedore.
Depending on the size shape they have different names.

These french pattern hammers are cool looking. Nice find!

I have old ones made in France but the last couple I got were asian for sure nothing like the Euro pliers I have from the eighties and nineties. I really don't see the point in Facom locking pliers now VS any other asian stuff a real let down from Facom which was certainly one of the top tool makers.

Wow that's cool. Surely there can't be a lot of Facom floating around Saskatchewan? I wonder how it found it's way there.

Matthew's explanation is correct. The UK uses fairly traditional ball pein hammers, Germans tend to have the cross pein type like this:

View media item 21150
And the French have that oddball notch (I've been unable to determine what it's for, unless it maybe affects the balance slightly). I have the same hammers with a graphite handle in the top left here, along with Facom ball peins with a hickory handle below:

View media item 26354
And just in case you ever need to know, it's apparently the German pattern that is preferred for slaying zombies. Here's a Habero Rotband at work:

changed the front discs and pads on my moms minivan. What a pleasure it was NOT. discs were rust welded to the hub so that I had to press it from the hub with some screws between the strut and disc. This actually worked very well but before that I tried even the 5kg hammer without no success over severel days ...

Luckily after this struggle and a bit of bodywork from a local garage it passed the inspection and 5days later the timing belt snapped on the autobahn which killed the engine :shocking::shocking:

They are like twins.

Look on it. They are look good, aren't they?

I like Stahlwille #14 more. It's good wrench too.:D

ps: Be careful with Gedore wrenches:D.
7XL is too big
p1010366wn.jpg

p1010332lw.jpg

p1010333wy.jpg

1B has uncomfortable shaft for me (in comparison with 600N and #14). 1B is usefull if you don't want buy deep offset wrenches. For example I decided to have such all-round set.

Make a good choice.:D

Oooh, I like your hammer collection, CanUK. I've got a 1-1/2 lb. Habero ballpein like those enroute to me, but am still watching for any other sizes at a reasonable price, and of course for some more German pattern crosspeins... hopefully someday my hammer drawer will look like yours :-D

Are you in the UK? If so the guys that run Gedore UK (based in Skipton) are on ebay as "allqualitytools" (or something like that) and are selling old stock through there. They list the Habero ball peins now and again, but I just messaged him to see if he had a set - he did and I paid I think around £30 shipped for those.

GREEN BOSCH TOOL >>> :shocking::shocking::shocking:
:D
Don´t worry i borrowed it from my father... i promise i will never buy a Bosch green tool :D

Are the Facom locking pliers of European origin or did they move to Asia with some of the other production?
i dunno ...they have several styles.... "T5" (mine says "France" but they´re older....) with aluminium/plastic handles, "Original 500" (France ???), "Series 580" (China), "Compact 507" (France ???), and the "Single setting" locking pliers (looks like Grip-On ??)

What's the preferred European source for locking pliers anyway? Grip On?
i guess it depends on the country....in germany you mostly find imported no-name pliers in the big box stores, the professional dealers usually have Knipex, Hazet etc. or no-name german made locking pliers or Vise-Grip. Grip-On is not really available here, there was only one online store who offered them...Mostly you can find Grip-on pliers sold through other brands like Elora and Würth etc.

where do I get swivel air tool connectors? Cant find those here :(
