Here are some interesting old tools I recently acquired. I picked up these 4 hammers from the estate of an engineer. I think they are all made in Germany. 2 are marked GUSS~STAHL and the other 2 just have symbols and codes. Note the square handle socket in the 2nd smallest one.

I like the spring on these Belzer circlip pliers:

The last time I changed a tire by hand I was wishing I had a 20" tire iron. My fingers ache just thinking about it. I picked up the Gedore made in South Africa tire irons from the same engineers estate as well as this set of open end wrenches marked GOLDEN CITY and also made in SA.

Last are these 3 bearing scrapers made by Moore & Wright, Sheffield, England.

Mac Intosh,
Please please pleeeeeease put up some scans of some old Hazet catalogs.:bowdown::bowdown:

At least one each from the 60's 70's 80's and 90's.:bounce:
Seriously, there is just one old hazet catalog out there on the internet; a 1963 catalog from a VW enthusiast site in Argentina called www.mundoescarabojo.com.ar
we need more. There is nothing else out there: believe me, I've looked!
It's not secret information. In the day, they gave these catalogs away in the thousands.
Will you help out a needy world?

Look at this Snap-On collector's site. It has scans of catalogs from 1923 to 1990. http://www.collectingsnapon.com/catalogs/catalogs.php
I'd kill for
a Hazet resource like that!!! Is there anybody out there who can help?

It is planned to post the catalogs on the internet. Two weeks ago I found a treasure of ca. 40 old and long lost catalogs and brochures, beginning with the oldest known (so far) Hazet catalog from 1930...
...and still scanning.

Completed are:

• 1930
• 1933
• 1938
• 1949 (german and an export price-list)
• 1951
• 1952
• 1954
• 1958
• 1961

To scan:

• 1965
• 1967
• 1969
• 1983

(The 70´s too, but I have to get them yet)

I could give you some extracts on request, but the company has to publish them altogether :)

Wow! :wtf: Is it Christmas morning??? :) You just made my day!

I would love to see them all, but could we start with the 1983 and the 1930 catalog? :bounce:
Thanks so much, Mac Intosh.

I'll see what I can do to hurry up. But it's hard to scan the 60's catalogs because they are like new and never opened. Maybe I find some used ones...

Great. Keep up the good work!
By the way, do you know when the 600N series wrenches first appeared?
Thanks.

Guss-Stahl means cast steel.

one hammer seems to be from Peddinghaus:

Thanks Monte!

My 1987/88 catalog does not show a 600N as yet.

Here are the letter codes used by Hazet from my 1961 Canada Price Guide. These codes appear beside tools or tool sets and tell if they are: American (SAE), Metric or Whitworth. Another example is "Z" means 12 point. Understanding these codes really helps using the catalogs. I don't see these code charts in the newer catalogs I have (1985 and 1987/88) although codes are used throughout.

I'm sure some new ones have been added since these, anyone have some newer ones?

Elora BSW wrenches

Scored some older Elora Whitworth wrenches off eBay. Don't know how old they are but they are much nicer than the cheapies I was using before!

 Very nice tools, 2oolhound! I think i would try to glue the split handle on the top hammer, white glue (PVA) and some tight rubberbands overnight, it would be a pitty with a brand new handle on this.

So I just returned my 3 Bahco chinese made pliers to amazon.

A seller on ebay from the UK claims the ones he has are either made in Sweden or Spain, not sure why he's guessing, that has me worried, he could be assuming like I did. It's possible they are loose and not in original packaging, the only one that has the China stamp right on the part are the smaller pliers, the larger sizes only had it on the back of the packaging.

Is it possible the ones he has in the UK have a different COO?

Sorry about the slight tangent, my fellow old world chaps, but could someone tell
me the correct way to pronounce Gedore please....

I assume the the "e" sound at the end is pronounced the same way as
met and pet, set and so on, like the way Germans pronounce Porsche

It's the "G" sound at the start of the word that I don't know how to pronounce correctly.

Is it like "Jee" as in the way we say German, or is it hard "g" sound as in the way I would say
Get or Go.... Hope you understand the question. Thank you.

I always thought it was "Jeh-door". Only found out Hazet is pronounced "Hat-zet" from one of their videos. :)

Thanks North... That's perfect.

So it's pronounced with a hard "G" sound like "Get"

Ge-Door-Eh
