I always use duct tape to glue the hammer to my hand so nothing can happen

Like you already said the marketing/advertisement costs are tremendous, sponsoring world soccer championships etc...... 60 to 100 million€ for sponsoring of the olympic games (Adidas).... margins of the dealer of 50% etc.... that drives the prices up... a imported pair of shoes sold in Germany costs the average of 9 € for the importer the newspaper reported... (in 2012, including leather shoes).....if i look at the retail prices...Nike, Puma, Adidas.... up to 200 € ....

So i thought i should take a look at New Balance. I like the design because it´s simple and not too flashy, they fit good, the UK made ones also have leather on the inside of the shaft down to the heel, so it should be more wear resistant compared to cotton or other fibres i think. The shoe also has a plastic toe under the leather (the Vietnamese NB shoes not) in the front so it should stay longer in shape and shouldn´t deform so easily. I got them on tuesday so i can´t comment too much....we´ll see.... i bought them on Ebay.de because "offline" i only can find the ones that are not made in England and the online prices are usually lower than offline so i paid 99.-€ with s+h included (the Vietnamese ones i bought offline a while ago: 59.-€) Both seem to be made to about the same measurements so if you can´t find the UK ones you could try the others and the size/fitment should be the same....(because sometimes EU size 45 is not EU size 45)....
I also thought that my clothes should match the COO of my tools

Did not know that nb now makes sneaker in the UK. They have good designs for flat feet. I uses to go to their factory store in waterbury mass to get mine.

My new light duty work shoes

nice shes, might see if i can get myself a pair, interestingly there are quite a few companies making shoes in the UK (and quite a few of them are affordable shoes as opposed to high end bespoke stuff) looking to get myself a pair of alt-berg walking boots later this year, which are made in yorkshire...

back on topic though

some more detailed pictures of the grinder i picked up













it appears to be missing the side guards (I'm assuming it had them originally?) will ask the guy i got it from when I'm next there in case they are still in his garage or workshop.

The little details on it are great, like the sliding t-bar to adjust the work rests, and the adjustable spark deflectors, you just don't see that type of thing on most modern grinders, its also exceptional well balanced, and smooth running, spins for a long time after switching it off

*i will be changing the flex on it as it has a split when it leaves the grinder

As you can see its on a wooden plinth, which was made to fit in a workmate type bench, the plinth is very well made, but i will be putting it on a pedestal, if i can find one for a reasonable price, may fabricate one though.

Also i don't believe I've posted this before, metal cantilever toolbox ive had since i was a kid which i got as an present, cant remember what make it is sadly, I'm thinking maybe Stanley or Draper, before they started making everything in Taiwan or china.

yes, both, the small one has adjustable length blades and is +00/0/1(slotted on the other sides), big one +2/slotted, bought it for the handle and using it with some shorter blades i'll order from Levelchrome next month...

I see in you pics they have the chuck screw at the end of the handle that nice, so how do you think about their quality?
I'm interested with both of them, I think the big one was made by SunFlag.... see the handle shape

too bad i've not received the Top RH-4N open ratchet, you would probably have liked it: same heavy-duty open mechanism as their ratcheting construction wrenches but with a half inch square instead of a couple fixed sockets...

indeed, SunFlag that resells it to any brand that wants it: FPC, Engineer, etc. it's a really good design for my hand so i do not care who makes it as long as it's japanese!
i received the two Engineers after buying a Wiha 4mm Torx kit(T3 to T15) that came with a not-glued-straight extension(second time with this problem on a Wiha extension, first one was with a TorqueVario S 1/4" female adapter that was bend out of the box) and i don't like the Wiha handle: too plasticky and fluffy-like, the Engineer is more solid feeling and works fine with the Wiha bits too, so best of both worlds for my use.

Hi, Sorry it's been a while since I posted any tool photo's in this thread.

I'll start off with my parallel jaw pliers. I purchased them a while ago at a local Army Surplus store.

They're apparently French Army Surplus. The pliers have "ARMEE FRANCAISE" "41P 1992 006" stamped on them. The pliers have serrated jaws, and a black oxide finish. I sort of wonder If they were actually made in France since I haven't been able to find any other French Parallel jaw pliers.

The closest type of pliers I can find are the Sargent 1026-S which have since been discontinued.

My next Item is a pair Eclipse 33 Trammel Heads. The Trammel Heads were made in Sheffield England by Neill Tools, now part of Spear & Jackson. They're really nicely made, at least for large non-precision work. The points are off-center machined for fine adjustments.
