I just got my next item. A manual sheet metal nibbler. Edma Super Coup No. 1. Made in France. So far seems very nice but I haven't gotten a chance really try it yet. This is an older pair with smooth plastic handles. The nibbler supposedly has a cutting capacity of 16 gauge sheet steel. For some reason Edma seems to have switched to a grippier handle surface.:(

Edmas webpage for the nibbler.

And a Youtube video showing them in use.

Looks good.

Are the new ones still made in France?

How do they compare to Wiss?

Are you talking about the regular Wiss snips, or the Wiss M4R HVAC Pipe and Duct Cutter snips? The Edma nibbler removes a thin strip of material as it cuts. The Wiss M4R Cutters also remove a strip of material, but the strip is wider. The only pair of the Wiss M4Rs I've tried had bad tolerances and didn't cut well, the jaws were very sturdy though. The Edma uses a completely different design. The cutter on the Edma is smaller and thinner and the cutter is designed to be replaced if it dulls too much or breaks, The other jaw is also replaceable as well. The Edma can also sever the strip at the end of the cut. I'll need to test the snips more before I can make any more judgments on them.

I presume the newer Edma nibblers are still made in France, at least the picture on the Website has the newer handles and has "made in France" stamped on it. The snips I got were supposedly NOS.

There is a pair of Wiss M-12R nibblers on ebay.

The Wiss have a slightly ligher cutting capacity. The Edma are slightly cheaper.

The Wiss nibbler you're referring to isn't sold in the USA. I found this page on Farnell.com, http://www.farnell.com/datasheets/95679.pdf , Given the descriptions, my guess is that the Wiss nibblers may be rebranded, either from Edma or some other company. Edma makes four different versions of these nibblers. The Edma Soupercoup Inox ST is the nibbler that most closely matches the Wiss M-12R. The Edma nibblers with the higher cutting capacity have a different blade and the catalog says hardened steel is used for the frame. This is the inox model.

Actually, I haven't used it much yet. I only replaced a bottom bracket on my bicycle. But yes, the handle is really thin - about 7,5mm.

Anybody knows who manufactures this torque wrench. Unior or Taiwan?

Hi Miskin,
I don´t know for sure, but it looks precisely like my no-COO from the Aldi store...bought it for DKK 149,- (appr. 20 Euros) - including a 75 mm extension, 13, 15, 17 & 19 mm sockets. Works a treat though ;)

Monte & other old world tool gods, I have a request!

I am looking for an inclinometer / angle gauge as I am trouble shooting some suspension geometry problems. I have been searching but I can't find any old world manufacturers who are producing them (apart from Shinwa, but I can't seem to get them in the UK). Something akin to this (with a spirit level):

Moore & Wright in the UK offers something similar to that. I presume it's still made in Britain. It's part of the Combination Set 520 Series Code MW520-01. http://www.moore-and-wright.com/products/show/3939?lang=English The Traditional Precision Combination Set 300 Series also might work. http://www.moore-and-wright.com/products/show/4756?lang=English

This is the Moore & Wright Catalogue section for the combination squares.

Very nice tools tuatara. The Romanian wrenches/spanners look nice. What do you think of the MOB screwdrivers, are the handles comfortable? Are the spanners from IUS, the company now affiliated wth MOB Outillage?

Well I bought what looks like exactly the same Torque wrench about 20 years ago, branded 'Draper'! Believe most of their stuff is made in Taiwan! Certainly has that 'feel' to it!

Works O.K. Bought better since!

Hi, Sorry it's been a while since I posted any tool photo's in this thread.

I'll start off with my parallel jaw pliers. I purchased them a while ago at a local Army Surplus store.

Parallel Jaw Pliers, France by Crutheni, on Flickr

They're apparently French Army Surplus. The pliers have "ARMEE FRANCAISE" "41P 1992 006" stamped on them. The pliers have serrated jaws, and a black oxide finish. I sort of wonder If they were actually made in France since I haven't been able to find any other French Parallel jaw pliers.

Parallel Jaw Pliers, France by Crutheni, on Flickr

The closest type of pliers I can find are the Sargent 1026-S which have since been discontinued.

http://www.sargenttools.com/itemdet...ame=SIDE CUTTING&itemID=278&itemNumber=1026-S

The other closest pliers are the Manley Super Pliers like these on Amazon.

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B008FZBR0O/?tag=atomicindus08-20

And the parallel jaw pliers made by Maun Industries in England. The Manley pliers say "made in England" on them so I presume they're also made by Maun.

http://www.maun-industries.co.uk/productDetails.asp?ID=80

i have the EXACT same pliers... but they are quite old and in much worse shape. I'll have to take a pic when I go to the shop.

Tuatara,

Cool Gedore sockets you have. It's a hexa-drive. I guess you don't have the ratchet that goes along with it? That must be from the early 20th century!?
That one USH screwdriver you have is made in Slovenia right? Assuming that it's the one I'm thinking of, the American brand, SK, used to offer them when they were owned by Facom.

Speaking of Sargent, here's mine. It's not spring-loaded though.

Hi Miskin, yes - it was a sale in the Aldi store, "Aldi Aktuelt" stuff that weren´t sold at the first salesperoid, so now sold with discount. I had one torque wrench, but bought this to be my "in-the-car" tool. Again, the one you show could be "the original" made by Unior and mine "the copy", hard to tell, when there´s no COO or manufacturer mentioned on the tool nor the package....but I see that the website you´re linkin´to has live webchat, you could ask them?
