What a sad day.
I used 3 drill bits for four drillings.

My question is, what are good drill bits for concrete and for metal?

My old drill is due for replacement, so what company makes good drills?

The Mato one is also available in metal and is "Engineered in Germany" :)
ooooooooooooooooooohhhh nice Belzer !!! I knew they made nice pliers and screwdrivers and such but now also the best oiler of the world !!!:thumbup::pimpflash;):rocker::eyecrazy: :pimpflash:drool::thumbup:

Monte, is there a good source for NOS Knipex pliers and the like? Those handles... :)
ebay maybe and small hardware stores.... :)

percussion drill ? rotary drill or rotary hammer ? The best drills are made by Fein (Fein BOP...) the best rotary hammers by Duss. Good drill bits for concrete (SDS-Plus) are available from Milwaukee/Drebo, Dewalt/***, Bosch/Hawera, Heller, Keil , Hitachi, Makita etc.
The good ones have a 4-cutter or 3-cutter carbide head and are made in Germany (all of them which i mentioned). Search Ebay for "Dewalt XLR" or "Makita Nemesis" or "Heller Trijet" etc.

Got this stuff pretty cheap.. MSRP for the Knipex only, the 1/2 Beta allen key was $1 and change, the PB Swiss driver was 3 I think! Don't mind the laptop :)

yeah, you got good taste in euro-screwies and hex stuff, not so much with that unfinished german thingie... ;)

BTW, if you need a small series of Torx Plus flag drivers, you can get the Garant branded ones for quite cheap(Monte will tell you, as usual, who the OEM is :D!)

get the Hawera/Bosch X5L and be done with it.

the Hawera Multi Construction are quite good too if you do not drill only concrete: *clicky* ;)

especially handy when you don't know what you're going to be drilling in beforehand...

(picture shows S4L 'cause there wasn't any X5L in stock when i bought these and also 'cause they were quite cheap, like eight euros the whole box. the X5L are way better though...)

If you have a Hornbach market in your area, you can look there to Alpen drills (Made in Austria), which are also has a very good quality !

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I found this offer…………the screwdrivers looks like rebranded Felo's, but the price seems suspiciously low to me. :scared: :dunno:

If I did not already have so many screwdrivers, maybe I would try this set. :D

sorry i don´t know.... :( Never saw them in person...... but maybe there is a "swiss made" somewhere :dunno:

if you use a Schlagbohrer then i would take a look at the Hawera/Bosch drill bits Cosmik Binturong recommended, "Goldcraft" bits from "Keil" or the Alpen drill bits from Blockw@rts post (Alpen drill bits with red painted flutes are similar to the Bosch Multi Contruction bits/ But remember some bits are recommended for use without impact mode). Alpen also offers impact drill bits specially for concrete (Black flutes/ "Profi Beton"), Hawera too ("Elastic Super" / "Perfect Power")

unfortunately snap-on doesn´t hand out price lists so you have to request every single price from your snap-on dealer but at 23 grand $ i guess you can as well buy a VW Passat or a Golf GTI from that money...... :)

Thanks to Monte and cosmic binturong I bought a 5-piece Bosch X5L drill bit set.

This thread and the people posting on it are very helpful. Let's keep it going!

I want to ask something:
A friend of mine and I are going to work a lot on cars together.
To make things easier I want to buy a compressor and an 1/2" air impact wrench (made in the old world :))
This compressor has to feed the air impact wrench and a SATA 3000 HVLP spray gun.

On garagejournal some people recommend the Ingersoll Rand 231C that is sold as 231GXP in Germany.
But there are other manufacturers. So which makes the most bang for the buck?:
Aircat, Chicago Pneumatic, Pneutec, Shinano, Sioux and even the Taiwanese Pneutrend. (And a lot of relabeled tools...
Another friend recommended his 1/2" Hazet air impact wrench to me. It even says 'Made in Germany' - which the newer models don't - but I doubt that Hazet made them themself.)

As for the wrench I want to stay under 200€.

Because I got good advices in this thread I said to him that I am going to ask here first.

err... i sorta posted on the wrong thread what got here by post yesterday and coulda (and shoulda) been posted right here, so let's go clickity-click!: *clicky!* :D

and to echo Mr MoAiZo: great thread, good advice on what exists, what works and what doesn't (and all that almost without much CoO and/or brand-bigotry :D) and lotsa lotsa lotsa goodwill from all the nice people of all confines of the Earth who have posted and continue to post interesting messages and pics here to make this thread the real biggie one on GJ and, methinks, one of the most useful.

thnaks Monte and to every member that added "value" to the thread!

anyway, last day of Summer Sale find, from Wolfcraft:

after being used(abused?) for years in industrial maintenance in an automotive plant, this 1/2" ******** rat from SAM will have it's remaining chrome removed and will get a homemade black oxide finish:

nice to see some rebadged Wiha tools !

I think it will be difficult to find an air impact from the Old World, and if, below 200.- :) Compressors are in most cases from Italían companies made in Italy or China - so that will be much easier :)
There are other common brands in Germany for impacts like Rodcraft, Rodac or Aircraft:

http://www.aircraft-kompressoren.de/produkte/druckluftwerkzeuge/schlagschrauben/index.html
http://www.rodcraft.com/lang-de/produkte-mainmenu-38.html?page=shop.browse&category_id=64
http://shop.rodac.com/webshop/artikellijst.aspx?bookmark=true

or simply get this one ...: (your friends ??)
http://heisse-nuesse.de/index.php?page=product&info=94
or with the mandatory socket set:
http://www.ebay.de/itm/HAZET-9012-1...werker_Druckluftwerkzeuge&hash=item5d3e4364af

The Sioux impacts are not available here (?) Snap-On is but high $$$, Shinano not avail (?) as well as Aircat and Pneutrend (?). Ingersoll has a good price, but the Hazet seems to have more power.... CP has some good prices too..(.http://www.tbs-aachen.de/Druckluftt...Schlagschrauber_125_1/2_746_Nm_i284_14443.htm ).if you want to spend closer to 200 then we talk about 1000 NM and more if you want to spend less we usually talk about 600 to 800 NM... i don´t know if the 200.- you want to spend include impact sockets etc... (or if you want to use chrome sockets :shocking::) )

err... i sorta posted on the wrong thread what got here by post yesterday and coulda (and shoulda) been posted right here, so let's go clickity-click!: *clicky!* :D
i hope it´s ok as compensation for the wrenches you´ve sent me :)

So i´ll post your tools here: :D

Festool bit set:

6mm hex + groove = "Centrotec":

"Centrotec" chuck:

Fitment is good :)

NOS Gedore punch set:

DON´t worry Cosmik !! i bought everything twice so i actually took pics of my tools  :)

ok except this Gedore bit holder which i didn´t buy twice because i already had the red version :)

shaft looks different but it´s safe to say they´re both from Felo: :)

oh and the Gedore ratchet because i didn´t see any hints you wanted one :D ...ok the Festo handle instead but it seems Santa has to deliver it :D

Aha.. I love that Gedore blue.. I think it's blue. I'm colorblind (to a minor degree), so work with me on this.

I hope amazon lowers their prices for that stuff.. like 200%. Then I'll be able to afford it :D

I have found an offer for the IR air wrench:
http://www.ateshop.nl/de/ingersoll-rand-231gxp-schlagschrauber-p-43.html
You can buy a toolboot with it . But it costs more than the CP and the Hazet.
(On a forum I found this:
"Made in China by Ingersoll Rand, Designed & Engineered in USA" rather than Made for Ingersoll-Rand in CHINA. The factory in China is owned and run by IR employees.)

So the race will be between the Aircraft, Hazet, IR, Pneutec, Rodac and Rodcraft :dunno:.

My friend told me that they use Kaeser and Schneider air compressors at work. Are they any good?

As for the sockets, I already have the Ko-ken :):

My Gedore punch set. It seems that quite a lot people bought it:

interesting boot...with a Maglite ?
231-BOOT-LED.jpg

i once worked one day at a "Euromaster" tire shop and we had these guns there too, so i guess it should work well for you.
Kaeser compressors are probably the best :) www.kaeser.de Made in Germany.... Schneider is a german company and belongs to the same company who owns Festool www.schneider-airsystems.de The compressors itself are from Italy (the last time i looked at them...) from "Fiac" www.fiac.it ,the air tanks were supplied by the german company "BWB" www.bsb-bwb.de (the last time i looked at them...) They do offer air tools too: http://www.schneider-airsystems.de/...ergleich.aspx?foc=SD-Schlagschrauber_SGS_8213
btw. nice Gedore punches + Koken sockets :drool::drool::thumbup:

Is there some deal on punches?

the price is ok...:

Very nice drills and pretty expensive....(98 USD/74 EUR).
But Dormer is a part of Sandvik who comes from Sweden and they sure know how to make things of metal. Especially drills.

And some nice Wera Impaktors. I really like them:

Hi guys!

Do you miss my bad English?

Ahh end of summer vacation, back to work now.

I also have some new tools but not pics yet. :)

Monte why the Garant is less expensive than stahlwille? :headscrat
welcome back :3gears::beer:
i guess because Stahlwille is a premium brand and Garant only a "no-name" brand for the people who want to spend less like me :D
