Well, there used to be a handle in the past, but I think that one broke. They (my father in law or his father a long time ago) made a custom handle in stead, but I didn't want/needed that handle, so I removed it and just screwed in 2 bolts. :p

very nice result !! :pimpflash Looks like Hazet color :beer::thumbup:

Yes, but I'm still a bit in doubt about the Hazet blue, which my Heuer vise also has now (posted earlier). It's nice, but it's a bit flashy for these old/not Hazet tools. A more vintage type of green might have been better :dunno:

More (real and old) Hazet garage equipment is on their way though the coming months, to join my Assistent trolley :pimpflash

The German brands you named all make or source parts of their product lines overseas as well.

Not stahlwille, if you dont count flashlights and stuff like that! All handtools are made in germany!

Maybe "Resedagreen" (RAL 6011) ? You see this color quite often on (older) machinery.
Nowadays grey or blue seem to be "in". Original Creusen color for the industrial line is grey (silver ?) too

Yes the resedagreen is more subtle and was (more or less) the original color of this Creusen, although most of the paint was gone (as you can see).
Think i leave it this way :p

It's weird, but I think I can understand some of the German language in this video.
I've got so much Hazet on my brain that I'm tuned in to it :lol_hitti

Made in W. Germany

I got these two items on a flea market. One is the box full of tools made in West Germany (probably in the 1980's). The other is a couple slip-joint pliers made in 1980 by WILL, Neustadt (today it's OrbisWill).

The box has everything made in W. Germany. Combination pliers? Knipex. Hammer? Peddinghaus. Bit holder? Wera. Measure tape? BMI. Water pump pliers? VBW (now known as Stahlwille outside Germany).

Awesome finds aoleg. Unusual to see a 'homeowner' box like that filled with such quality tools.

AFAIK Gedore also produces everything in Germany. Including the ratcheting wrenches for which many other manufacturers use Taiwanese made components.

Correct! Stahlwille has only the regular straight rat.wrench and only that old double box end rat. wrench from the time when mankind doesnt exist:) And no 72,80 or more tooth ratchet ether...only 60 tooth if I remember right! They have the taiwan brand Top Tec rat.wrenches, but no pure stahlwille

Today I purchased 2 old Hazet storage/garage equipment:

A rare and old 1952 large cabinet (needs 'optical' restauration + a new key and removal of the DIY-locking mechanism ), Hazet 100:

It started with an earlier post of GJ member Mac_Intosh of the second puchase: the table top toolbox that sat for 30 years in a garden! :eyecrazy:

It's a Hazet 152 ('76-). I also haven't seen actual pictures on the internet of this one before.
Condition: well, most rust was from the contents, the box is still pretty solid. I managed to open all 5 drawers eventually:

Well, it seems some serious restoration anyway :D

Well that's not bad considering the size, power and quality of it. I would like a big drill like that, even if i don't need one. :)
..and Bosch charges €465.- + tax for the 2-speed model and Metabo 479.- + tax so it´s actually quite cheap :D ;)

@Dutch79:

What a score!

The upper box looks like it will clean up nicely with just polishing compound. I wouldn't repaint it if I could avoid it. It'll only be original once!

keep us posted on the one from the field. It does look like it can definitely be saved. A wire wheel on an angle grinder might be needed, though.
It's a true testament to the quality of the original box that it could survive for so long in a field without totally disintegrating!

@dutch79 Nice find!!! :thumbup:

Where did you find them, marktplaats?
No, straight from Germany (nearby Remscheid):rocker:

Well, I have to figure out regarding the second one, how to unlock the drawers, otherwise I cannot do anything to the inside of the box properly.
Then it has to be decided if I use a chemical treatment for dissolving the rust or a mechanical method (wire brush, sandblasting,....?)

I would start with a mechanical method and then finish off with a chemical.

As a penetrating agent to get the doors open, the best solution-in the world-is a mix of half acetone and half ATF (automatic transmission fluid). It's cheap enough that you could use a tray and soak half of the box in it at a time.

Good luck with the restoration, love the cabinets.

Acetone/ATF is my favourite mixture too, just remember that you´ll need a good de-greasing before any painting. ATF and paint aren´t good friends...
BTW, Alfajuj, it isn´t cheap either: 1 liter ATF on gasstations in Europe: 12 Euros (20 $)! Remember that most european cars are manual...so ATF is a speciality item here. ;)

By the way: this is the only real picture of Hazet 152 I have in pretty good condition. It was for sale in Germany not so long ago:

And this one is from the '76 catalogue:

dutch79 amazing stuff...i want a link for a restoration/cleaning thread....

I already created a dedicated thread on The Samba:
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=579349
..but might also create one on GJ.

Not really. That is the smaller Hazet 110, which is more common. I have the larger cabinet with 6 drawers, which is even more rare ('52).

Hello all,

First post :shocking: , please be patient and don't pick on me...

I inherited these pliers from my father (so I can't ask him...). Monte, when messaged him, was so nice to respond and had an idea, but he was not completely sure and suggested to upload pictures. Anyone knows the company behind HPW Germany? Any comments on quality?

BWT, incredibly nice thread with lots of friendly people

Thanks!

Reto
