Hi.
Here is another variation of Wera 8001 from Wuerth.
I don't have Wera but this Wuerth works good and I'm happy to have it.
I'd like to have more holes for bits, though.

Sixth photo shows 24mm but actually hight is 25 mm.

It is the A1 model not the usual A2. Nor A2 was so expensive if I remember correctly though. Are you sure that you don't have the 49 11 model?

I received the 2 Wolfcraft 6” clamps from Amazon. I’ll do a comparison (weight) and any dimensional differences when I can. When that’ll be I don’t know. But I do like them a lot.

I like them very much ! The fitment on the hex side is tight and the bits are held very well. Release and insertion of bits is easy. Overall very nice products !

Haven't seen many Mole grips listed on this thread. Here is an old Mole I picked up at a Swop Shop for around $3.50 (a bit battered, but teeth are good and clicks in nicely). As a kid I only knew Mole vice-grips. Nowadays its Gedore and Irwin....

Not a bit holder, but I’ve found Apex makes the best bits of any I have tried -- they’re made in the USA though so might not “fit” in this thread

Bad I guess! I thought that gedore has the same fit with stahlwille. Maybe I'm wrong.

I think the problem is not on the driver but in the socket. Τhe groove in which secures the ball is very deep and the ball does not stabilize the socket by pressing the walls.

Some of the new sockets (those with the knurling in the middle) are a little better though.

I tried a koken socket with the T-ratchet and looks a little better. When I try different drivers and socktes (facom, carolus, wurth, stahlwille, proto, allen, gedore, unior) the feeling is the same. All more or less are sloppy. But I have only a few so I can not draw reliable conclusions.

Honestly I haven't find 1/4 socket set with good fit. Some facom are even worst than gedore. Maybe the old made in france are better. Unior is nothing special either.

Edit. I have never try hazet.

This 1/2" Beta 960 socket seems to be made by Ko-ken. You can tell from the writing on it (the engraved number).

I bought some Gedore 1/4" drive a few years back (they offer BA sizes, which some others don't) and the fit was nothing special. Get a ratchet or sliding T, add an extension and socket, and the whole assembly is really sloppy! The tools were quite thin and light too, which rather put me off Gedore!

A friend has a comprehensive set in 1/2" drive though, and has no such problems, so I think Gedore are better suited to the heavier applications!

I have some Stahlwille 1/4" drive too, in metric sizes, and have no issues with that! Really nice tools in fact, though I reckon it's worth making the effort to acquire the quick release ratchet with the all steel handle! Much more durable than the standard!

I've bought a few Beta tools, mainly because a local dealer keeps them 'on the shelf'!

No issues to report, and friends who have bought the wrenches reckon they are not bad! I havn't bought any myself because I don't like the rougher finish of the standard wrenches, but they reportedly last o.k. and actually have broached jaws, which isn't always the case at this price!

Beta make several different grades of tools, and it may well be the case that the cheapest (Beta 'easy') are outsourced, but I don't know! I'm fairly sure that the regular range is made in Italy by Beta themselves, and I have a 3/4 drive set that was clearly marked as such when I bought it!

Some of Beta's sockets and accessories (the ones destined for aerospace applications) are made by Ko Ken. Beta don't hide this fact, and I don't have a problem with this, although here in the U.K. I can get Ko Ken direct cheaper than Ko Ken by Beta!

On the whole, I reckon Beta are a good choice for entry level / mid price tools, and are a good deal better than Taiwanese tools at similar prices!

My Black&Decker angle grinder died on my after 8 years of loyal service. Never thought it would hold out that long. As a replacement I opted for some German sweetness. Runs smooth like butter and due to the slim body, very comfortable to work with.

Like others I was wondering what kind of tray it was, too. I reckon it to be wood as well.

I've been using wood to create socket holders as well. It's a cheap way to make custom holders. Here's an example that I have for my 1/4" drive stuff. Not as pretty as MadMeier's, but does the job.

The tool museum in Remscheid is a must. Only 2 ear entrance! Have a collection from the stone age to current toolroom, a very impressive place. Have loads of pics, don't want to overload...
