yesterday my love, partner and everything else she was for me, died from the lung cancer that she was battling for more than a year. she fought it with all her strength and then some more when she was tired or when the chemos dragged her down with horrendous side effects. she lost her battle.

there were some good ups and then a big downer came along, it was a rollercoaster of medical imagery good and bad news for a year...

we had planned to continue work on the home and get rid of all the humidity and asbestos corrugated plates on the roof, get a nice garage where we could work on subies(her favorite was a late 90s white, bug-eyed e12), get some woodworking done too and finaly open a rural bike shop and build nice wheels...

she was very supportive of my tool addiction and got one of her own too.

a lung hemorrhage shattered our future and my heart. she was funny and the nicest woman i've ever met, she was my love. she still is.

i would like to thnak all of those on this thread that had kind and gentle words in PMs for us and were supportive when she/we needed it.

she liked you all, overseeing me typing and posting all those crappy pics and asking everytime that i translate your posts for her or let her order some tools she saw here for us. :D

thank you.

tool related stuff in case someone is disagreeing with my posting this here:
she was involved in the "Secret Santa appropriate gift search" this year and even drew a moose on the enveloppe right after surgery and a good pneumopathy(too bad our recipient didn't post any pics):

and she found me a Tone 371 in the classifieds a few days ago and told me to get it two days before passing away. :(

Update to this mole grip: I wrote to Scangrip tools and asked if this was made by them (was a bit unsure), and if - then why they changed their name.
Got a nice answer: "Hej Bo. Tak for din intersse i SCANGRIP A/S. Gripex tængerne fik nyt navn i 1986 da den tyske producent af Knipex tænger fandt at navnet lignede deres for meget. Senere blev firmaet Optico (producent af skruestikkebakker) lagt sammen med Gripex og det nye firma fik så navnet SCANGRIP. Produktionen af tænger blev flyttet til Kina i 2008. Med venlig hilsen / Best regards.."
Translation: "Hi Bo. Thanks for your interest in Scangrip Ltd. The Gripex pliers got a new name in 1986, when the german manufacturer Knipex found that the name was too close to their name. Later was Optico (manufacturer of vise jaws) bought, and the new group named Scangrip. The production of pliers was moved to China in 2008."
More information on Scangrip on their web. The hydraulic tools are still made in Denmark.

That is interesting, thanks Roverbo. Just out of interest, what is the link between Mole and Gripex? There are many Mole grips available here, but I have never seen Gripex.

yes but all 3 :D;)
:bounce:

the Sony fell down and don´t work anymore :( so i borrowed a "Medion" brand camera from my father :)
err..btw awesome pics.

i like the Wiha one the best because it´s made of plastic so it doesn´t get damaged through humidity and the scale is etched into the plastic so it can´t wear off.
thanks for the answer

Does your employer supply them ?
Yup!! I have requested to choose what is the tools that I needed, so I go for one of the best brand. :)

you can´t lock the cases together like the Systainer or L-Boxx but you can carry 2 boxes together because of the special "3 handle" design:
intelligent cases!

As you can see, I have more space than tools now which is very tempting! :bounce:
Congratulation!! nice tools and tool trolley. Beware! it not good for your wallet b :bounce:

My buddy Lok send the medicine for my disease..
beautiful pliers, I'm sure you need more medicine and your disease became more worse :D
btw: I like the oldskool box.

@Cosmik
I'm sorry to hear that, this is the most touching story about man, women and tools I ever hear..and it is happen to you buddy, as we know you are the funny and happy guy here. Hopes you fine, I'm sure you can handle it, we prays for you and your sweet heart..take care.

Damnit man... I'm not to proud to say I got teary eyed reading that. So sad to hear after having heard earlier that she was sick. My thoughts and best wishes are with you!

As one of the people that enjoyed a tool package from you and her, is there some organisation where you would like us to leave a donation for her memory or something like that?

(Monte) The name "Heitu" or "Heitu-Grip" is not registered at the trademark office....so i´m clueless too.... btw. here is more "info"
http://carlotta.malmo.se/carlotta-mm.../object/517701
.

Funny, that link is to a museum in Malmö, Sweden. A collection of tools from a bicycle workshop. The collection features 400 tools, most of them Bahco or Gedore and Dowidat. "Heitu" obviously had some kind of dealership here in the Nordic? :headscrat Do you know a link to the german patents office (the DBP, DPGM-marking)?

Really no connection to the original Mole (yours), you just inspired me to take a look at my own welding "one hand" pliers. :) As mentioned, Gripex was made by the Scangrip company here in Denmark. They have made OEM tools for other brands, but if there has ever been export to South Africa?

Just discovered !

:) You learn something new every day in here ... even with your own stuff.

i don't know what to say... except thank you to you all for the kind words and support here and in PMs(i'll answer each of them later).

the last days have been a nightmarish trip from the hospital morgue to the various administrations, banks, etc. that were to be notified of her death. had to contact all our and her friends too and the responses were the same from everyone: she was so kind and so helpful. had to ruffle through her fb, skype and gmail accounts and IRC logs to find them all and it's a heart tearing process, every single time one responds i start crying. her twin sister is devastated as are her parents. worst is to come later today when the coffin will disappear in the crematory. :(

i don't know what i'll do, can't even think about the future. can't think of what life will be without her.

for those that want to make a donation, choose a good charity that you trust and does local work or whatever does good, kind stuff in your community -even the fire dept, a shelter, a school- and help them if you can. or plant a tree, she liked to walk in the forests around here... :)

Thanks for the info.

The 400mm Plierswrench still seems to be a ghost here in the U.S.

I messeged them on FB asking when it would be here along with the hose clamp pliers. It was the person who contacted me from Knipex before about my Knipex drawer so I figured I would get some sort of response. Time will tell, I sent it on saturday.

i don't know what to say... except thank you to you all for the kind words and support here and in PMs(i'll answer each of them later).

In my experience theres a lot of friends and family around during these events that helps to keep your mood up by remembering the good times and enjoying time with the people you may not see often, don't be afraid to take some time alone if you need it. Once everybody leaves though is usually the hardest. Just keep your head up and keep yourself busy, find some friends to go out with or talk to family on the phone. Don't "**** it up" or hold it in, that makes things worse. You'll need some time alone for this, don't be afraid to do it in the middle of the day even at work or something, but also don't sit around alone all day depressed as that doesn't help either.

It's hard to see it now but it will get easier as time moves on, nothing will replace her though. My wife got tattoos for when here grandparents died in remembrance of them, she got something that reminded her of them. For her gpa it was a pig with wings. My dad got a heart tattooed over his heart to remember my mom as she had a heart transplant. Buddy of mine also got a tatoo for remembering his sister. It seems to be something that helps a lot of people because its permanent and with you all the time. You could make something in the shop too, I have some plans for my Kenworth when the time comes to paint it to remember my mom.

You always have a lot of support here too from people if you need.

Dear "Cosmic"
I wish I could give you hug, but I can't. I also wish I could say something to improve your situation, but I can't. I have experienced though times but I still can't imagine what you are going through.

Still, judging by experience: Chances are it will get worse before it gets any better - when the reality sets in after the funeral is over. Though times ahead - but I am sure your lively spirit will prevail. Ahead is time to grief, to be unavailable - to figure things out. Later it's time to heal and move on. My point is - take your time!

My condolences and respect;
Olafur.

She sounds like a genuine one-of-a-kind, and I'm sure she will be well remembered by everyone who knew her.

My first tools I ever bought was a full Gedore spanner and socket set, so I have a real soft spot for Gedore products.

Are they able to keep these in stock in Europe ?
I am wondering if there is a demand issue and obviously Euro customers would come first.

Very nice !

I'm still waiting for my ones from "Promat"
they look nice in blue :)

puntyx040.jpg

They are gold colored. I think the blue ones are an older version my dad owns some of them.
ah i thought they are the older blue ones because of the old looking blue boxes :)

This hammer reminds me something :D
;)

there are approximately 740 million european customers waiting for the Knipex pliers wrenches so i guess the US has to wait a little bit longer ;)
