There are just 3 or 4 types of powertools that are still made in the bulgarian factory of Sparky in Lovech, my friend.
The big anglegrinders, that you call "bolgarka", and the big 2-speed drills are made in Bulgaria. Everything else is imported from China and packed here. I'm not sure if they assemble the tools here.
The quality is low. Not like the old tools labeled "ELTOS (Elprom Lovech)" that lasted at least 15-20 years ...![]()
congratulations to the greatest post here ever.QUOTE
Dear Monte,
... my sincerecongratulations to the greatest post here ever.
Even though, you gave the game away about your true identity (you took a pic of yourself in the WERA entrance and now, we have proof that you are the greatwst tool-nutter here on GJ (for those who were not sure yet only).

Knipex 30 to 35 HRC. Alarm 25 to 30 HRC(three measurments).

You are still alive? You are destroyer of german brands.![]()

On the way back home from cologne I drove through the “blade city” Solingen and the tool cities Remscheid and Wuppertal.
Gedore only sell regular production tools, some of the knive outlet stores sell factory seconds for up to 60 percent cheaper !More excellent pics from Monte !
Thanks for this.
About these "outlet" stores.
How do they work in Germany ?
Do they sell "seconds/blemished" items cheap ?
so next time i see a unknown tool i will think of you and your babiesSometimes the client will just take an existing product and rebrand it.
That's the fast and easy way. But when they do that, observant people like you can figure it out.
Other times they will open some tooling to create a new item based on an existing model.
And still, some clients will come to us with a project to create an all-new tool. They pay to open all the tooling and it belongs to them. So you won't find it in our catalog. These are collaborative efforts and involve many many meetings, design proposals, changes and technical emails back and forth. So I have a lot more involvement in the project. So I consider those to be my baby. I really can't say any more...
if you own a "Master Card Black" that should be funI could totally see me doing what my buddy's dad did at a nudie bar in Alaska... running in there with a credit card between my teeth...![]()
yeahSomehow I just don't want my power tools to say "Sparky" on the side...

Thanks for your offer ! Only Gedore and several knive/scissor manufacturers have outlet stores. Here is a booklet where you can see who and the adresses:Monte,

ooops forgot my ladder thereIs that Monte's signature graffiti on the Gedore building?![]()
Zwilling/Henckels is (afaik) the largest manufacturer of knives (etc.) in Germany and very well known. Their products are sold through many department stores and kitchen/knive stores. I passed their building when i drove through Solingen: Found these pics:Very interesting factory tour! I'm wondering how HENCKELS rates in Germany. Were you near their plant?
its alway in march every 2 years. It´s basically trade only but i was there too....if you register through internet it should be no problem....maybe you are self employed or work for a import company...who knows....Wished I had known about Cologne fair, I could have adjusted my time in Germany. Was it trade only? I expect to be in Europe again similar time next year.
maybe an older version ?? Or special version for certain dealers/stores ? I think the handle design is still sold ,but rebadged as "Lux" tools at the OBI stores.Anyone able to explain more about these Felo screwdrivers shown in another thread ?
Is this a special Hi-viz version ?
I can't find any link for it.
That's a bargain! 5 €!

How many km from Greece to Remscheid ??That's a bargain! 5 €!I paid 16 € + 4 € shipping on ebay for these pliers and i concider my self lucky...

Made by Schmitz. They didn't even bother to change the color of the grips.
Heck of a price, as they go for ~16+EUR directly from Schmitz.
nice pics + tools !Wow... so many pages filled with goodies! I haven't been in here in awhile! I decided to snap some photos with the shipment that just came in from Germany... except for the AST funnel. And I haven't even got around to photographing the rest of the stuff that's been coming these past few months.
I checked again the KNIPEX pliers near the cutter and the result finally makes sense. 45 HRC! If you look the pic closer you will notice that the spot near the cutter is a little bit smaller than others near the teeth. That means the metal in this area is harder (of course time is another variation, but we consider it is standard for all measurements). But the hardness of the teeth has got to count for something as well. I'm far too lazy, but a email to Knipex (or one of the other brands) with the details of your findings and asking for an explanation of hardness of the teeth, vs cutting edge, vs "body" might provide some insight (and probably some marketing BS, but you never know).
I'm finding this interesting though and I appreciate your efforts. I'm looking forward to see if, or by how much the figures change the closer you get to the cutting edge.
Also - any chance of getting some pics of the test in progress? A "tools in action" shot for the testing equipment![]()

still nice toolPicked up two Fein items bought in Weisbaden a few weeks ago, and posted home to Oz.
Nice Multimaster - Made in Germany
Very (*$&^%* off with the drill - NOT made in Germany.
My fault I know, buyer beware. I had started off looking at the new 18V 4 speed, but quite heavy, ended up with the 14.4v.
Thanks ! More pics will follow since i plan to spend a part of my holidays there maybe around augustMonte, major props to you for taking us through a virtual tour of all the "hot spots" at the fair, and letting us hop on your ride to take us through the various places. It's like I just went on a tool pilmigrage. You just filled my soul with tool nirvana.
Oh...we haven't seen any pictures of all the leaflets, pamphlets, and catalogues you surely must've gotten.![]()
That's quite the delay from the Euro release date.Knipex messaged me back, they are saying May-June for Pliers Wrench XL and Hose clamp pliers.... Worse than a 10yr old waiting for santa.
That's quite the delay from the Euro release date.

nice ! not a very common brand over hereHi, I finally complete my set screwdrivers isolated HKR, here in Peru are sold in single units and had to buy up to three different hardware stores to complete measures ..
nice ! not a very common brand over here![]()
When I decided to buy insulated screwdrivers initially found in the market these options: HKR, Stanley, EGA and Toptul.
Stanley and Toptul dismissed by Taiwanese origin (not because they are bad, in fact they have other very good Taiwanese Stanley screwdrivers) and between Ega and HKR chose the latter.
Then in my quest to complete my set, I came across other brands Tulmex, Irazola and another I can not remember now, and even an old Stanley sotck model (older models are my weakness, I maybe buy a pair for my small collection) .
The Wiha, Elora, Wera, etc.. Brands regularly mentioned in the forum are not around here, at least not in the common market.
