Niiiiice!!! :)

.... you can find Walter wrenches here.

Thanks, I hate you!

I was trying to find some info for the stahlwille chrome plating because it's the only socket that I have never seen it flaking, when i found this datasheet.

I didn't new that stahlwille applies cold forging in sockets.

Stahl about cold forging
http://stahlwilleu.com/page26/page32/page5/files/Datasheet_Sockets.pdf

Then I remember the link of monte about cold forging of hex 1/4 dr gedore sockets.
(You can also find these two pic's in general catalog. )

Thanks to a tip from CanUK in the UK Hot Deals thread I'm now the proud owner of this used Koken 3/8" e-torx set. 4-8,10,12,14,16. The E10 has some minor impact marks and some chrome flaking on the top and the E8 also has some chrome flaking on top, to a lesser extent.
But still, all are in very good condition.

Very cool. They look much better than the blurry ebay pic suggested.

More info of the new Multimaster:
will be available in may in Germany, the work progress is 35% higher than the predecessor because of the new 350 watt high performance motor with constant maintaining speed electronics and 1.7 degree amplitude (competitors 1.4 to 1.6 degree). The vibration is reduced up to 70% because the motor housing is decoupled from the motor itself with damping elements and the noise level is reduced by 50%. Prices will start at 210.-€ + tax for the QuickStart set. The old Multimaster will be offered as entry level model FEIN "MultiTalent" and will start at 128.-€ + tax

Damping elements (yellow) which decouple the motor housing from the rest of the tool:

Did you get the tommy bar for the Saltus wrenches? That's what the hole is for, by the way. I need to get some of those too.

Those Heyco sets look perfect for carrying in the car.

I picked this pipe wrench up at a local yard sale last fall for $5 or $10. Its a Kongsberg No 93, made in Norway. I like it a lot - it is solidly made and very long, to allow better leverage on sticky bolts.

Hard to tell how old it is, but it is probably older than me (42).

Cool,i wonder how that ended up in the us.It seems to be in good condition.I got the same myself,i think Kongsberg stopped tool production in 1990,so i have no idea how old it is.

Not too much to choose from this weekend then? :D

I went today as well and there was not a single thing worth even picking up to look at.
...a Stanley nail puller with the same handle but "Made in USA", a "Dotco" air die grinder which i picked up for €10.- (pics will follow), a Peugeot wood chisel (pics will follow), plenty of cool old power tools (no pics :)) and other stuff. If you want you can always find something here, at least if you collect old power tools or hand tools or ...or...or.... :D

have some work to do at my house in Marseille, that is now my mother's home and took a few hours off to go poach a bunch of fleas... :)

small haul: a small Trumpf nibbler(N160E) for like twenty euros, an old crusty Fein 230mm angle grinder with a Kwik-Lock for 40€ that runs like an olympian marathonian once turned on and is almost exempt of vibrations, unlike the green Bosch we used to cut the concrete of the alley... :D
a couple 180mm Knipex pliers(87 01 180 & 86 03 180) for like 35 euros, new, of course, some NOS and some ROS(rusted old stock ), some pliers, screwdrivers, sockets, 125 and 230mm cutting discs, various SDS-Plus accessories and drill bits, another Vulkan Lokring installation tool, some step drill bits, piloted hole cutters, couple used Zobo cutters(can be resharpened, eh!), old talabot "Geneva fileset", misc. small wrenches(including soem 13mm combo ones :p), a small, unbranded nice, old bronze hammer, a four pieces plasticky Bojo kit(ok, it's a bit expensive at 10€ but made in USA and of good quality... ;) ), couple of rusty NOS Bahco 424P 25 and 30mm chisels and, lastly, a made in Germany, NOS, Wiha Inomic VDE cutting plier, works and looks good with the VDE bit holder from the same maker... :)

CoOs are Germany, USA, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Austria, Japan, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, France, Portugal, Sweden, Belgium, Denmark, Canada, Taiwan and probably others too...

no Ko-ken stuff though... :(

i was kind of on autopilot there, working my way in the alleys and on the curbs, only looking at what was for sale and what would be useful for what i'll plan to do, or, more exactly, try to do, to our house... thinking of that is still awfully painful since there's no more "our" or "us" now...

no good pixes to follow early in the week, tomorrow is earth shovelin' time! :spit:

got back my Facom CDX ratchet from a long term loan: broken ejection mechanism and only one 10mm socket left out of 8. i'm torn between  and :D for this one since the guy is a good friend and will do some free work for my mom later on... so i'll just get a kit and an extension and use it for some stubborn 10mm bolts. ;)

one more thing, can't find anymore who posted some infos a few years back on a Knipex pliers wrench specially made for Air France or maybe Airbus maintenance crews... halp!

NEW tools for 2014: ...

Thanks :)

Found some more...

http://www.ebay.de/itm/Nusskasten-DDR-Sondergren-/121302605368

http://www.ebay.de/itm/Poland-Knarr...n-8-32-mm-Rechnung-inkl-19-MwSt-/231120420015 (incomplete set)

If none of these sellers should send to Greece, send me a PM and maybe I can help you. :)

It seems these Polish sockets were quite common in the former GDR. Maybe that's the cause why these sets are sold mainly on ebay.de :headscrat

Thanks again buddy.

They look somewhat small.
Are they 125mm ?

150 mm. I don't know if there are biger though.

Always wanted a CDX set, just for the novelty of it. Maybe some day.

it's a good ratchet/system if you have the need for it but alas i never found a long CDX ratchet which would have been useful for applying more torque. i'll post pixes of it after a little cleaning just to show how sturdy it is. ;)

I have a request:

I'm looking for a pike pole (also know as pick pole or spike pole) that's made in Europe, for some forestry work I am doing. I can only find manufacturers in the USA, with no one stocking them in Europe. Surely there is a forestry manufacturer in Europe who makes one? Even if I can just get the head, I can make the handle easily...

For reference, this is a pike pole. Designed for pushing logs around, particularly if they get lodged in the air against another tree.

indeed, here, in France, i only have seen those two: the sapies(called hookaroons on the other side of the Atlantic) mentioned by Monte and the tournebilles("peaveys" if my memory does not fail me): *clicky!*

there are lots of tools that are US/Canada specific, especially forestry/fire tools like the one you're looking for or like the Pulaski axe and the McLeods hoe/rake... :(

Hello to everybody :) I am a DIY tool fan from Bosnia and Herzegowina (Europe), just for hobby :) I have read all "Tools from the old world" and now I want to show you some of my tools. Most of them I picked up on flea market in Bosnia :) I hope you will enjoy reading this post :)

UNIOR: http://www.unior.si

This is most frequent brand in my country and in former Yugoslavia. It is a Slovenian manufacturer of hand tools. Before, they had all great quality tools but today they produce everything: from top-notch stuff to rubbish. It is easy to find them here, so many people buy them in tools shops or on flea markets.

Unior LSI No. 110 32 - 30 open end wrench (bought on flea market for 2,5 E:
material: chrome vanadium
drop forged, entirely hardened and tempered
surface finish: chrome plated according to EN12540
polished head
made according to standard ISO 10102 (only metric dimension))

Unior LSI No. 110 28 - 26 open end wrench (bought on flea market for 2 E)

Unior LSI No. 110 11 - 10 open end wrench (bought on flea market for 0,5 E)

Unior Extra (this was pre-1990's style, they were very strong and durable) 9 - 8 open end wrench (bought on flea market for 0,5 E)

Unior LSI No. 180 32 - 27 double ring wrench (bought on flea market for 3,5 E:
material: chrome vanadium
drop forged, entirely hardened and tempered
surface finish: chrome plated according to EN12540
polished head
ring part with LIFE profile
made according to standard ISO 10104 (only metric dimension))

Unior Extra 11 - 10 double ring wrench (bought on flea market for 0,5 E)

Unior No. 531 tower pincer (bought new for 10 Euros:
material: special tool steel
drop forged, entirely hardened and tempered
cutting edges induction hardened
head surface finish: finely ground
surface finish: phosphated to standard DIN 12476
handles plastic dipped
made according to standard ISO 92)

Unior No. 642 center punch, size 5 (bought new for 2 E:
material: chrome vanadium
entirely hardened and tempered
tip induction hardened
surface finish: lacquered
made according to standard DIN 7250)

TANG (Tvornica Alata Nova Gradiška / Tool factory Nova Gradiška - town in Croatia) http://www.tang.hr/home_eng.html

This was a second producer of hand tools in former Yugoslavia. They produced high quality wrenches, excellent sockets, pliers, chisels and punches. Tools were like "eastern made" with awful finishing. Today, factory doesn't produce hand tools, since they where bought from italian company Eurozappa, so now they produce pressing parts for automotive industry.

Tang 17 - 16 open end wrench (bought on flea market for 0,50 E)

IUS: http://www.mob-ius.ro

IUS 19 - 17 open end wrench (chrome alloy; bought on flea market for 0,5 E)

IUS 17 - 16 double ring wrench (bought on flea market for 1 E)

GEDORE:

This famous german tool brand is hard to find in Bosnian's tool shop, but it is not rare, beacause a lot of people from Bosnia worked in Germany, so they bring Gedore tools here. That is a reason why in my country word "gedore" means socket set and socket itself.

Gedore No. 6 16 - 15 open end wrench (bought on flea market for 0.50 E)

Gedore 13 – 12 open end wrench (bought new for 0,50 E; Made in India)

Gedore No. 6. 6 - 7 open end wrenches (bought on flea market; two for 1 E )

Gedore No. 7 "9" combination wrench (bought on flea market for 0,50 E)

Gedore Habero 1000 g hammer (bought new on flea market for 5 E)
