<iframe width="640" height="360" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/TXkAHLlbEPQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I was going to say that a lawsuit's on the way, but i dont think NWS patented the "Fantastico "design ... if they actually invented it in the first place ...

PB Swiss Tools short factory tour video:
<iframe width="640" height="360" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/hkypKid4Ghw" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

If you look closely at the video (time stamp 1:09) in the historical display (year 1961) you can see one of these:

My dad got it in Switzerland. Must have been late '60's or early '70's. They stopped making them in 1975. It's interesting that they used the same orange pellets to make screwdriver handles.

nice ! still don´t know who make them but at least they say "Germany" :)

i first thought: "hmm NWS makes pliers for Stanley"
....maybe the patent from whoever owned it ran out ?

There were a few Brazilian tool enthusiasts who participated in this thread, in the past.

You're another welcomed addition to this board/thread. :)

Maybe they had two dies: one for export with the "correct" spelling and one for the domestic European market?

EIGHT is a small manufacturer that specilizes in hex keys and some hex bit sockets.

Interestingly they source the raw CAB material from an american company called Eastman.

The story goes....
Shortly after WWll, Mr. Bauman (the founder of PB Swiss, fromerly known as PB Bauman) came across tools that were left behind by the US military and within the collection was a translucent, colored screwdriver. That's when Mr. Bauman decided they were going to produce the first screwdrivers in Switzerland. Not only that, influenced by that beautiful US made translucent grip, in 1953, they became the first company to produce the translucent-gripped screwdriver in Europe. To this day, PB Swiss produces the Classic grip, which actually mimics the shape of the traditional US screwdriver.

Re: Tools from the old world, didn't know I had one in my picnic kit

Yeah it does, but it just moves one of the two marker needles (the knob in the middle moving the other). The large needle of the gauge itself though tends to return to a slightly different position each time the plunger is released though. And then the small inset dial needle isn't anywhere near 0.

No problem, the end stop is not to be used as a reference "zero"point. I mostly uses my dial watch for measuring "out of roundness", end float in bearings, axles etc. I use it with a magnetic stand. Load the feeler on the outer bearing in the "middle of the range (small gauge on, say, 1,5 mm)", then set the outer ring to 0. Then turn the axle, bearing or whatever, watching the movement on the long gauge. Its not to be used as a vernier, but more for variations, uneveness in depth etc...

Cheers  I was concerned that it might indicate that the gauge was broken or of doubtful accuracy.

Stanley surely has the capital to pay royalties to NWS, if they indeed had it patented. :dunno:
it seems they didn´t ...couldn´t find one... They also didn´t patent the "curve" of their water pump pliers (for the extended jaw capacity) and shortly after NWS came out with theirs Knipex introduced their new Cobras and Alligators with the extended jaw capacity....

Does Gedore make underwear, and socks, too? Then you'll be fully outfitted in Gedore powah. :D ;)

Ha, you are right. :D Although I neglected to mentioned that the Peugeot ceased operation quite long ago. It had been used day in and day out for probably 15 years in heavy construction. Last I recall seeing it, it was stripped to pieces with the intention of repairing it, but alas, it has not run since.

I have a 1/4" driver with exact same handle, labelled "Kamasa Tools". Rubicon must be OEM for Kamasa.

Maybe it's as you say, although I have my doubts. Here in Peru the Kamasa tools are considered lower quality and this is reflected in their retail prices.

This is the page I found from Kamasa http://www.kamasatools.com/es/ and none of the tools show that there are in hardware stores here. The ones you find are of this type:

Hi Luis,
Maybe Kamasa and Kamasa(South America) are two different companys? Maybe the name (trademark) is only registered in Europe and the US? :headscrat Here Kamasa is still considered to be good tools, maybe not top-notch like Hazet, Gedore etc., but tools you could find in a workshop.

My Kamasa tools are very old...
Kamasa is, like they tell on the web, a swedish company. AFAIK they started by taking over an old, japanese toolmaker, selling them in Sweden and later in the rest of Europe. I think my tools are from that period of their "history"...

I tend to think like you, must be two different companies. Although that's pretty strange.

My Kamasa tools are very old...

That means two things: they are old because they have had much your hectic and even preserved because they are good quality .... now that I see the picture, you are quite right the handle is identical!:D

Those handles look seem identical to a Japanese brand called WISE

twoway_bulk1.png

But I've seen similar/identical handle styles from other Japanese companies as well.....just can't recall which brand....nor do I know the OEM.

Interestingly I've seen Kamasa screwdrivers that are identical to KTC's purple-color-handled service tools.

Taiwan is the COO for both, Stahlwille and Hazet; however, they are made by two different companies.

Roverbo,

That's a very cool looking Kamasa socket bunch you have. How old do you think they are? Here I am thinking that an anti-roll feature on a socket was a modern "innovation", but it seems like it wasn't.

Hi Superautobacs,
I found these at a local car accessories store - they don´t do much in tools, but occasionally they have a "used tools bargain" box. One tool 10 DKK, 10 tools 50 DKK (10$). Most is really worn out and rusty ****, but i found my Koken ½" ratchet there (needed oil), a Bacho (Sweden) screwdriver, and these Kamasa sockets. I think they dropped a complete set in the box, unfortunately only the depicted ones were left. A friend of mine owns a complete set in same style (in a green metalbox, marked "made in Japan"), and this set is from around 1990.

A remark: In Peru and in some countries of Latin America we call them French key to this type of adjustable wrenches and not necessarily because they have been manufactured in France :D
