I have a Ko-ken 24" long breaker bar and I'm not scared of exerting all my strength on it. It's survived without issue so far.


which one do you have? knurled handle or plasticky one?

i'm still not decided between a Ko-ken, a Gedore or a Wright one... too many great choices! :willy_nil

good point on being able to re-ground the blade to shape. :thumbup: If you're crafty enough you can probably shape a Phillips-like profile. Try it out...maybe name the unique profile to something like: Cosmik #2 :lol:
already done it a long time ago to have a better fitting screwdriver for derailleur set screws -long before i knew what a JIS screwdriver was- and as a ****** driver for deep rims, well not so deep, that was in the early nineties so more like ~30mm deep... :D

Just a heads up to be aware of the width of that Ko-ken swivel head ratchet....it's rather bulky...might be more bulky than the Wera ratchet. So, it's not ideal for working in confined spaces.

The handle...maybe the only brand that offers three different handle styles?

Btw, the Ko-ken Zeal is smoother and even more shallow than a dual-80. :)

I bought the Snap-On 24" breaker bar SHBB24 from Herrapro.
Good price, love it.
It has a screw on the top end so you can tighten it if it gets loose.
The Ko-ken hasn't this option. To be honest, my Ko-ken dealer said that I shouldn't buy the 4768x-600 as he has many returns. He doesn't even sell it no more.
My 4768P-450 holds up well though :dunno:.

Again, I have been bad at posting for a while now. Still reads everything though, thanks everybody that posts pictures and information!

I just have to post this though. I have been wanting to get the Bahco 7750 for a while now (since I first saw them) and about a week ago I ordered it, it would be about 500 SEK (€55) shipped. Then today the Bahco outlet store had opened again, and I went there. Not so high hopes, since they at the end of last years season had almost ran out of interesting stuff. But to my surprise, they had a box of ratchets. And in there was the full range of the "Dual 80" type ratchets. They also had a nice flex head 3/8" one. The best thing? They were 150 SEK (€16) a piece! So without a second though, I got a couple. And very quickly I canceled the other order :)

Also got a pack of swedish made saw blades for a reciprocating saw, 200 SEK for a pack of 10.

I have not tried them yet, so let's see if they manage to replace the Facom sealed heads as my favourites.

Cutting discs - Pferd stainless

as adjunct to the Rhodius post earlier, I used a Pferd stainless steel cutting disc to trim the folded end of a 1mm s/s bench top yesterday. Clean cut, like knife through butter.

The PB Swiss chisel made an easy job of paring of a bit of (?) brazed/welded flange from original installation.

The Staedtler marker hadn't been used for 3 years I guess, just capped; worked as new.

an advantage of the Hilti is that i can rotate the head by unscrewing the four front ones(and then not forget to rescrew them once the head is rotated! :shocking:).
it doesn´t work on the Bosch ?...but how often do you do that..?

the more grinder you have the better you appreciate their increasing number!

it was that or nothing though and as soon as i heard the noise i stopped using it. he'll get new SKF bearings and some good greasin' and TLC on top for good service when i go back to Luxemburg!

slower but even with the same cutting disc or Roloc it vibrates less than Bosch's line of blue meanies(either with same power output/speed or the 14-125CI which has only 200 more watts in the belly) the Flex is such a smooth operator. :cool:
yeah Flex is quite nice, unfortunately the brand is not that well known outside of germany :( so if you once have/want to get rid of your Bosch/Hilti...there is a Flex waiting for you at your dealer :)
gotta try a Suhner or a small Fein next or better, a smallish japanese one: *click!* :)

i've seen the Metabos and although they're quite nice i won't find them for fifty euros for some time. so another Flex is or Fein or another of the goooood, less known here, brands will be nicer and cheaper.

except if i can get my hands on a Kosoku from one of the malaysian boat guys in Marseille, they have a way to get nice stuff from Japan, even in 110V(and BiL probably won't bring me one back despite being for six months in Japan right now... :( :mad:).


i've just found the Stahlwille Rollmaster we were looking for for almost three years... it's less than 60km from our house and is slightly rusty, gotta go pick it up in two to three weeks so no other pics than this one 'til then. :cool:

and then it hit me, why not get an oldie with with forged or cast parts and a big beefy column? :rolleyes:

and so i started looking again at the internets, the auction sites, the yard sales, flea markets, rumages, etc. and didn't find squat. :headscrat

so, again, i ended up empty handed and was then considering a bigger "integrated" vertical drill. found some 380V in dire need of dear repairs and, again, at wallet-gouging prices. :(

I have the standard(?) chrome handle version. I wanted the newer style ergonomic handle, but Level Chrome was out of stock at the time so I went with the chrome. With a 24" length, there's enough leverage generated for the most common automotive tasks that I've tackled without having to exert a huge amount of force. So, I haven't really been bothered by the less ergonomic/not-as-comfortable, small'ish chrome handle.

The Gedore 2-comp handle looks very comfortable, and I really adore Hazet's older 2-comp handle breaker bar as well.

Yes, Snap-On has a very nice mechanism, indeed. They definitely amazed the tool industry when they launched them and they set the standard high, and kick started the race for high-tooth count pear-head ratchets.

Ko-ken/Zeal has not jumped onto the must-have-the-highest-tooth-count bandwagon.....yet. They have always, and still have with their latest Zeal ratchets, concentrated on the feel that the user desires.....and that's the user friendliness that comes with their incredibly smooth mechanism that has very little drag.

Go with the Bahco.....IMO. Made at the same factory, from what I can gather. The casters should have "Snap-on" stamped on them.

So, as you could see from guys from our part of the world (i see some guys from Slovenia, Bosnia and Croatia (ofcourse) around here :D), most of our tools are from countries around us (mostly Slovenia, Italy, Germany...) :)

Unior combination wrenches model 130 (with offset box end), bought pretty cheap (around 65€ for set 6-32mm)... 10 and 13mm are mod. 120 (without offset), someone probably "borrowed" them from the store :D **** for that price, I don't mind (full price is around 150€ here)

Probably, they are no longer in production (thats why they are so cheap :rocker: ) :D

I had no. 120 and 130 in hand, same size ( IIRC 17mm) in store, 120 is a bit longer and doesn't have offset, rest is almost identical... I think they (130) were not selling so good because offset combination wrenches arent so common around here...

EDIT:

I found an older 32mm 120 in garage, it doesnt have LIFE profile but rest is the same as newer one I think...

My dealer said that the Ko-ken tend to have a problem with the fork that holds the movable part. I wanted the Ko-ken and ended up with the Snappy.

Walter Schröder X-Gripp in slotted, PH, PZ and TX.

I go through five to six slotted ones per year as I tend to kaputt them very often - I use them as mini pry bars.
Wiha and Hazet (who makes those? I would buy packs of them) seem to be the strongest.
I will put the Schröder ones to the test.
I haven't tried the PBs yet...

Don't spend money on PB Swiss. The use you do is very harsh for them. Try WERA chiseldrivers. They will become your favorite!

Yesterday I walked around the flea market where I usually go with some frequency and found a screwdriver Rubicon tip star No 3 of an older model :eyecrazy:, I remember my father had one of these in your woodworking shop, you are in the eighties so quize have mine and I took it home :D

Nice screwdrivers!! Wiha makes their own screwdrivers (my favorite brand :beer:) and Hazet is made by Witte I think :cool:

just got a new powerstrip with 9 sockets so i can easily double the herd and still be fine. :thumbup:

as long as it works smoothly and for a long time and that i get them cheap it's fine with me if they're not well known... :spit:
i've seen the Metabos and although they're quite nice i won't find them for fifty euros for some time. so another Flex is or Fein or another of the goooood, less known here, brands will be nicer and cheaper.

except if i can get my hands on a Kosoku from one of the malaysian boat guys in Marseille, they have a way to get nice stuff from Japan, even in 110V(and BiL probably won't bring me one back despite being for six months in Japan right now... :( :mad:).:
what about brands like Peugeot, Stayer, Kress, Elu...do you (still) can find them over there ? I thought you have 230 Volt in france :)
i've just found the Stahlwille Rollmaster we were looking for for almost three years... it's less than 60km from our house and is slightly rusty, gotta go pick it up in two to three weeks so no other pics than this one 'til then. :cool:

Bought a Hazet 880ST (ST=standard) 3/8" socket wrench set in metal case.
Sockets are in metric: 8, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 21 and 22mm.
Have to figure out what year it is (somewhere in the 70's I guess).









I appreciate the 3/8" size more and more. 1/4" is quite small and not that strong. 1/2" is strong, but a bit heavy and bulky. :headscrat
