That makes so much sense now. The Metabo impact I picked up has the through-hole in the square anvil. Usually we see the sprung pins here for pin-type anvils.

Got some stuff from my grandfather. Outilac seems to be a Belgian industrial supplier that rebrands a lot of stuff. Anyone know the OEM of the 1/2 72 tooth ratchet? Facom?
Does anyone recognize the wrenches, they just say 'Germany'? They seem fairly well made to me.
Also got some more knipex and gedore stuff that I'll photograph later
The set in #4 looks like Dowidat.

It has that too! A mini one though. You could probably find a bigger one at a supply store if you wanted it tighter.

is there a 27 in that torx set? I've been looking to get a nice set of torx screwdrivers, but I'm not seeing a T27 in Wera's sets. I was looking at the Hazet's too and they have a T27 in there.

Nice! I use Tesa in my work. The depth gauger is round or square? If it is round, be careful because it crooked easily.

Wish they would have an angle grinder with those vacuum attachements. That would make indoor thin-set removal after chipping of tiles so much less of a smoke bomb.

Tools in action, sort of (I didn't take any pics of it running - need another hand). My Metabo SXE450 sander vs. old desk.
Warning sub-amateur efforts below. Experienced wood finishers should look away.
My wife rescued an old teacher's desk from the skip at her work. Probably 60's or 70's vintage, oak-ply top with a solid edge all the way around. Quite beat up (thus being in the skip) and finished in a horrible orange-ish varnish:

I decided to sand it down and oil it, but then midway through I decided it was going to look a bit boring. As it was free I figured I'd have little to lose by experimenting, so decided to hit it with the torch. I did this all over:

Then oiled (some leftover danish oil I had from my garage worktop), and sanded, and oiled, and then waxed with a mix of beeswax and olive oil. It looks better in person, but:

I have no experience doing this sort of thing. I'm sure there's a proper way of going about it, but I had little time, no budget, and a large dose of curiousity.
Ideally I think it might have been better to use a larger torch, or a cooler burning one, but all I had was a portable torch and MAPP gas - so it's a bit spottier than I'd hoped, but I'm still happy with it.
The Metabo works a treat. Very easy to use, powerful, and low vibration. I started sanding with 60-grit (finished with 120), although I probably could have used something coarser - the varnish came off the solid wood very quickly, but seemed a bit more stubborn on the ply face. Or maybe I'm just impatient

I bought my first metabo tool at the weekend. A 115mm sander much like CanUK has but without the handles.
They only had the display model available, how disappointed I was to read on the box that it was made in china...
I didn't bother looking for the COO at the time because i assumed they were all german made!!

I actually bought them about six months ago, everything else has been bought this week, so I can tell you now.
Pro's: They've replaced regular long noses in my tool bag because they are thin enough to do everything that i use long nose pliers to do. The cable cutter and the strippers are very good, although i have auto strippers in my bag, so they don't get much use unless the auto strippers cant fit where i need them to. The end of the jaws have a section with no machining, which is very useful for bending cables without damaging the insulation (once the edges of the jaws are filed).
Con's: The crimper is bad/shouldn't be used. I can pull crimped ferrules off the cable with my hands, which shouldn't happen, and doesn't happen with my weidmuller ratchet crimpers. the jaws are also too thin to twist cables together.
All in all they are well made and work well as long noses and cable cutters, but they wont replace combo/linesman pliers or a good ratchet crimper!
I bought the SXE450 150mm model. I'll double check, but I'm fairly certain it's made in Germany. I'm thrilled with it regardless of where it's made though. I've got several Metabo tools, some made in Germany, some made elsewhere, and none of them have let me down.

It really does look smarter in person, and now it's assembled and sitting in it's room. I'd take another (better) pic, but the room its in is pretty awful. We've recently moved in and yet to reno that room. The sander will get put to use smoothing out all the patches and filler the walls will need before painting.

I was pretty sure there was a topic somewhere concerning air compressors.
My needs grew a bit and I need to purchase one compressor for a single task:
blow dust/trapped air.
An oilless one is a good choice? Not planning on spending big bucks as it will be for casual home use. Maybe inflate a tire or two.
Can someone point me into the right direction?
