Sonderangebot!
not exactly :)

The pliers are sort of expansive. Are the selling prices including VAT? What is the brand of the adjustable wrenches?
yes prices are with VAT included (19%).
I can´t remember exactly....maybe old Gedore adjustables.

I really hate my country. There isn't a single place here where i would find tools, like the NWS pliers, in a window.
Did you already looked in every single window in your country ? :D ;)

These C30 series flank drive Gedore sockets aren't what I would call high quality. The center bore isn't always centered and the finish isn't the greatest. I guess they are made in South Africa going by the web page on the bottom of the tag.

Yeah man, same thoughts here. I am a huge fan of Gedore Germany. If it's not made in Europe at least, I don't like the quality at all.

I saw a set of these South African sockets and bought them. They were advertised as COO Germany, even though I really knew better, I still ordered them. They are for the SA market, not the Euro market. I poked around on the web and found them on an African website; made in Africa, for Africa. I do not like them at all. They are even weakly and crookedly stamped in both metric and imperial sizings.

I really spoiled myself I think with the German Gedore stuff. I cannot accept the tools not made in Germany or Austria. The difference in quality is strikingly apparent. I will be returning the SA made product immediately.

Did you get your set from an ebay UK vendor? I also sort of thought they would be Germany made.

Sad to hear about the South African Gedore tool quality. I bought a 3/4 dr socket set a year or so ago, coo SA and they are really nice tools. They came from an estate sale. I think they were at least 10 - 20 years old. The ratchet is coo Germany with everything else being SA.

kiatech,

This is awesome news! :rocker: Road trip, anyone?

Can you please post the address of the Toledo Menard's that stocks the Orbis pliers?

Does this store accept any coupons from the nearby competing home improvement stores?

Thanks,

Dave

Not all Gedore sold in South Africa is made in South Africa (even if the tag has the local website on it).

The crooked stampings certainly does not tie up with the South African made Gedore stuff. I have had my Gedore socket set (where every stamp is perfect) for over 24 years with brutal use and not one single failure.

If you have some detailed pics of the sockets and the stampings, please post them. I'd like to have a look, and could perhaps comment.

Osram Dulux Worklight

Monte,

Are you happy of this Osram light ? I'm a brit concerned about the neon tube not being really "shockproof"
I think you can't adjust the tilting / swiveling of this light, am I right ?

Also, can you attach it to a tripod ?

Thanks mate.

That's a fluorescent tube, not neon. I have a reading lamp that uses the same tube. It operates at mains voltage.

yes i´m happy so far :) The light is nice, bright and white. The light stays cool so if you touch it you don´t burn your fingers and if dirt flies onto the light it doesn´t start to smoke like the old standard cheap Halogen lights. The light also don´t blind you if you look into the light. The light is available from several brands (Würth, Reca, Mennekes, Hella...) and is made in Germany by Sonlux .
They offer a large range of workshop lights. Here a catalog of the "Gladiator mini" light:
http://www.sonlux.de/assets/publications/pub_pdf/KATSON-11K_Gladiator-mini_2014-08.pdf
They also offer larger ones with and without built in plugs etc....
79-1001-0006.jpg
78D0001-0001.jpg
82-01300-0006.jpg

They do offer tripods and holders for the lights:
sonlux_stativ_mit_rollen_zu_gladiator.jpg

I made my own bracket/holder....:

the tripod is for cameras or camera lights or so i guess ? (got it for free)

I didn´t try how shockproof it is....but since it is sold as workshop light and distributed through Würth and other industrial wholesalers and competitors offering similar products.... The housing of the light is made of polycarbonate and the edge trim is made of soft rubber. Edit: The lights should survive a drop from 1 meter and are IP 54 rated (minimum).
Edit: a video which show the robustness: :)
another one:

image movie + how they´re made: :)
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/W6UUwo7rhak" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Some lights have a adjustable bracket:
0003.jpg

The Gladiator Mini doesn´t have a bracket, but the housing has different angles so you get different lighting angles if you lay the light on the side for example.

i think the Wurth tool is a Monti MBX Metal Blaster :)
i think the small disc also works in normal CD/disc players.
