do you have link?
Panavise (manufacturer's site).

Farnell seems to sell it pretty much anywhere, but their pricing is horrible outside of the US (i.e. 324 Electronic Workstation for ~213EUR on Farnell's Portugal site, yet it has an MSRP of $99.99 here in the US :wtf:). There are other sellers in the EU that do better on pricing, but the selection tends to be limited (i.e. 324 is hard to find). Printtec for example, and I've also seen some items on Amazon UK as well.

If you can't get it for a more realistic price, go for the Bernstein.

Edited links for location.

My first post here. I've been passively following this thread for years.

Anybody gotten their hands on one of these yet? Or any NWS screwdrivers for that matter?
I think non-VDE screwdrivers must be relatively new to the NWS lineup? I can't recall seeing them in their catalog before. The only vendor I can find selling them is Chadstoolbox and it looks like he's only got singles. No sets, and I can't find the kit pictured above.

Welcome!

The OEM is wuro/Athlet, monte posted a link to their website above ^
You might find the same screwdrivers available in another brand (vbw, Wbg or matador). felo/wiha/wera/pb swiss make similar sets as well if your interested.

FWIW, I've a couple of Drive-Loc sets from Wiha (4mm & 6mm shaft sets). Handles are very nice, as is the ability to adjust the depth of the blades (also longer than standard, so more useful for recessed screws).

FWIW, Wiha makes blades for more screw profiles than any other brand I'm aware of (use a lot of PB Swiss for my dedicated drivers, but their electronics offerings are on the meager side IMHO).

This was surprising. I saw this Wiha insulated set at Sears the other day. I didn't know they carry Wiha. They also carry Knipex. I'll have to keep an eye out for sales. Anyone know if this set in particular is a good one? German made. I have some older Wiha insulated stuff that's very nice, as well as a precision set.

I own a pb swiss precision set so I can vouch for the quality, but your definitely right about the selection from Wiha. They have everything covered!

I bought this set of Heytec wrenches a while back, but they did not include the 12 and the 15 mm sizes. So I ordered the Heyco 12 and 15. My question is are the Heyco and Heytec tools made by the same company? They both seem to be good quality tools though. But they don't match very closely. Thanks for any info you can give me. I did search and couldn't find any info on the forum.

Actually, No.

I like trying to improve **** though, so I'll be more than happy to accept donations. :3gears:

They carry a couple of scattered pieces at best.

As per that particular set, the handles are excellent, but the tips aren't what they were back in the late '80's/early '90's (in general, their tips are of softer metal; specifically for that set, the black is paint, not true black oxide).

Not saying they're garbage, but just trying to temper your expectations regarding the tips vs. what your older drivers are IME. They are definitely worth the asking price. :)

If you're after their previous level of tip quality, you'll need to switch over to PB Swiss. Unfortunately, your wallet may yelp as a result. :spit:

If you're after true top of the line for tip quality, you'll have to spring for PB Swiss. Won't be that cheap though ($71.20 shipped via USPS).

I definitely chose the wrong career path, I've got a Seiko and a Ford :D

Perhaps they were "too used", and you just need to offer one, possibly two, right off the assy. line?

Thanks again monte. how do you think vbw compares to knipex and nws?
i think the quality is the same.

Couple of interesting purchases came today,

firstly a Spanish made Zubi Ondo adjustable, this is my second of this make, have a chrome plated 12" one in poor shape which is my "go to" adjustable, this one however is in great condition, and has one of the smoothest movements I've seen on a adjustable on par with Swedish made Bahco. The steel feels great too, real nice quality :pimpflash

The other is a bit of an oddity, as far as i can work out its a model T ford T-1917 wrench, which I'm sure many have seen, as they are pretty common in the USA

However this one was made by a company called Vaughan Brothers in Willenhall UK (who also made tools for Ferguson tractors), not sure how that came about, possibly the same tool was also used on a UK market vehicle?

Last a pair of Austrian made Gedore 'telephone pliers' anyone know who the manufacturer is or do/did Gedore have a factory in Austria?

The T-1917 wrench was intended to be used to change bands in the planetary model T transmission. It's often used for other things and the end with the thin legs is spread open as a result. It was included in the tool kit that shipped with every car.

Thanks, yeah i forgot that the T was sold in the Uk as well, not nearly as common as in the USA, and most were commercials apparently (the engine size made them expensive to tax in the uk at that point) I guess they made many of the parts locally instead of importing them from America.

Where did you get that, and are there any more?

Hello TjoFrasse

I think we are some way off:D, I live in Lima Peru, and found this knife in one of my many travels I do for old hardware stores, the center of the city, looking for vintage tools.:eyecrazy:

Okay, I thought they were made in Germany, the Heyco says germany on the wrench but the Heytec doesn't have any markings for the coo. Thanks for the info.

I don't understand why the manual says to lubricate the axle (9106200) monthly and if i not i risk long holes in the pump.
I have to lubricate the axle external or something else?

Gedore manufactures their own pliers in Austria since 1972.
Please take a look at this video where you can see how they are made (starts @8:10)

Yeah, that doesn't surprise me. I've been wanting to give PB Swiss drivers a try for a while. I actually have enough insulated drivers, so if I'm going to spend the bucks, it would be for new general purpose drivers. Are they good for that? How do they compare to Snap On hard handles?

They could be used as general purpose, but keep in mind, the plastic on the shafts *can* prevent them from fitting down recessed holes (if you encounter those a lot).

They make a Slim fit version that solves this problem, but costs a fair bit more. Haven't encountered them in-person, but I suspect the tips may be tougher due to how thin the actual shafts would have to be so there's enough plastic insulation to meet VDE specs.

Compared to Snap-On, it's something of a toss-up depending on what you value more. I'd give Snap-On the edge on tip hardness, while I'd give Wiha higher points on the handles.

Overall though, I'd opt for the Snap-On's. Better tips, and the handles are quite decent (some may prefer them to Wiha anyway, as that comes down to personal preference).

Gražvydas,

Welcome to the forum and thanks for posting pictures of your tools! I am especially drooling over the above picture of your side cutters.

Have you used much the Wiha BiCut Professional (Z 18 0 05) pliers? If yes, have you ran anything that it cannot cut?

Thanks,

Dave
