The french made have thinner box end and open end! Pretty big difference in material thickness! This would be very important for me if I decide to but 440!

Acesa 5" Grip Pliers. They are drop forged, top quality pliers, made in Spain.
I´m not sure what of their line-up is actually made there. If you browse through their catalog you can see the "Made in...." or "Czech Rep." on some tools (screwdrivers, hammers....). Some tools don´t carry the coo (or it´s not visible on the pics (wrenches...))

I passed up on the 36v SDS because there were no other 36v tools at the time, but had I known they were expanding their 36v stuff, I would've reconsidered.

Does anybody know what the deal with IRONSIDE is? Do they manufacture anything themselves or are they just a brand stamped on OEM stuff? I found out that at least some of their screwdrivers are made by felo, but how about the rest of their lineup? They have a lot of stuff with COO marked Germany and a lot of cheap stuff without markings.
I found that my local grocery/hardware store has a lot of their stuff in stock and I noticed that their spanners seemed pretty nice and were made in germany according to the DIN 3113 standard. They were reasonably priced too 13, 15 and 17 mm were around 5 euro each.
Ironside is just a brand and don't produce anything themselves. A lot of it is medium quality Taiwanese stuff but they occasionally manage to source some good as well. A few years ago ( make that several... Damn I'm getting old :shock: ) a lot of it was Bahco rebranded, but these days it seems it's sourced from all over.
Oh, I think this may be my first post on GJ. I promise the next one will be pic's of good stuff from Germany or some other European countries

Thankfully most of the chinese stuff is just their entry level products, their pro stuff is still being made in Germany. I do not know if they used to make the same stuff in Germany before, but I do not think so, guessing it is a completely new market for them and a way to cash in on their great reputation.
I guess we are lucky that fein is still top notch stuff all the way

Times change But don´t worry their more expensive tools are still made here.....grinders, drills, sanders, stationary saws....everything still available "Made in Germany".
If you take a look at the Metabo catalog from 1978 below you can see that the retail prices (DM 227.- = about 116 Euro) didn´t change that much in the last 37 years if you compare the saw from below with a modern counterpart. So if the retail price don´t change you have to change something else
coo for example. But luckily here in europe we still have the chance (and choice) to buy power tools made in germany not only from Metabo but also from Fein, Festool, Mafell, Kress, Stihl, Baier, Duss, Suhner, Eibenstock ......
I´m not sure if Ruko is actually made here...
I think Gühring is one of the biggest and most common threading tool manufacturer from here: www.guehring.de

I hate when I can buy German brands but they are not made in Germany... I am looking for tap and die units, but here I can find only Ruko, GSR (China made) and IAT (Tool industry from Trebinje, Bosnia and Herzegowina. Back in time this company was one of biggest HSS tool producer in Europe.) If Ruko is not German made, then I will probably go with IAT units.

Thürmer, Dormer and Gühring all make fabulous threading tools.
I find I like the Gühring taps more than the others, though.
Dies are pretty much the same. I do like how Gühring color codes their taps.
Fun fact; Thürmer still makes square (also known as old European style) threading dies. Würth is known to carry these, which ensures you will need to buy the corresponding tools with them as well. The founder of the company, Fritz C. Thürmer invented the square die, which may explain why they still make them...
