Looks exactly the same to me. How can you tell one was made in Taiwan and another in France?
Have a full 6-32 set of USAG 285s which are re-branded Facom 440s and they are nice a bit on the short side maybe.

The french made have thinner box end and open end! Pretty big difference in material thickness! This would be very important for me if I decide to but 440!

The big wille'.

I think the best descriptor of Stahlwille's finish is: smooth galvanized :D

The finish has a nice platinum like lustre on the wrenches...

"ZEREM" was a tool factory located in Remscheid. The brand does not exist anymore - I think it went out of business in the 1960s.

It was founded (as far as I know) by Richard Eugen Zerver, the 3. degree grandnephew of Hermann Zerver (HAZET).

The company buildings still exist and are still owned by the descendants.
That's so interesting info! Thanks

Late birthday-present to myself.;)
Happy Birthday :) I like that light !
I bought these flexible bit holders for €5 each. Never heard of the brand before. They don't look like the new ones. Maybe they are NOS?

The new ones seem to be made by Narex ?

the bit holder of the new one looks like the same than on the old Wekadors. So possibly also made by Narex ?

Very interesting.
Is all their stuff made in Czech Republic ?
I´m not sure what of their line-up is actually made there. If you browse through their catalog you can see the "Made in...." or "Czech Rep." on some tools (screwdrivers, hammers....). Some tools don´t carry the coo (or it´s not visible on the pics (wrenches...))
For more info please contact Narex or their US dealers:

Oh wow.

I passed up on the 36v SDS because there were no other 36v tools at the time, but had I known they were expanding their 36v stuff, I would've reconsidered.

Also available in 5.5AH
Here is more info about the LiHD batteries:

The new 36 volt angle grinder will have the power of a 2400 Watt corded machine. Other cordless tools will possibly be available in the future like wall chasers, SDS-Max hammers and stationary saws.

btw. 10.000th post

Congratulations!

Does anybody know what the deal with IRONSIDE is? Do they manufacture anything themselves or are they just a brand stamped on OEM stuff? I found out that at least some of their screwdrivers are made by felo, but how about the rest of their lineup? They have a lot of stuff with COO marked Germany and a lot of cheap stuff without markings.

I found that my local grocery/hardware store has a lot of their stuff in stock and I noticed that their spanners seemed pretty nice and were made in germany according to the DIN 3113 standard. They were reasonably priced too 13, 15 and 17 mm were around 5 euro each.

Ironside is just a brand and don't produce anything themselves. A lot of it is medium quality Taiwanese stuff but they occasionally manage to source some good as well. A few years ago ( make that several... Damn I'm getting old  ) a lot of it was Bahco rebranded, but these days it seems it's sourced from all over.

Oh, I think this may be my first post on GJ. I promise the next one will be pic's of good stuff from Germany or some other European countries :)

Really unfortunate to see those metabo made in china tools. Previously I thought metabo was all made in germany?

I recently purchased a metabo and fein grinder, both of those are made in germany, fantastic tools.

Thankfully most of the chinese stuff is just their entry level products, their pro stuff is still being made in Germany. I do not know if they used to make the same stuff in Germany before, but I do not think so, guessing it is a completely new market for them and a way to cash in on their great reputation.

I guess we are lucky that fein is still top notch stuff all the way :)

not a fan of bare metal handles, but that pair looks awesome
me neither. I prefer comfort handle pliers (Knipex...) The design of these older pliers is nice though

Congrats and Angela has a special award waiting for you in Berlin !
lol no thanks :p

:shocking: so awesome. Didn't you have a another one? ...or was it Knipex or Belzer :headscrat
yeah a Belzer, Gedore and another Hazet :) (Hazet model 1802-2)

I promise the next one will be pic's of good stuff from Germany or some other European countries :)
Good intention:)

once upon a time....everything was made in germany :) Times change :)
But don´t worry their more expensive tools are still made here.....grinders, drills, sanders, stationary saws....everything still available "Made in Germany".
If you take a look at the Metabo catalog from 1978 below you can see that the retail prices (DM 227.- = about 116 Euro) didn´t change that much in the last 37 years if you compare the saw from below with a modern counterpart. So if the retail price don´t change you have to change something else :) coo for example:). But luckily here in europe we still have the chance (and choice) to buy power tools made in germany not only from Metabo but also from Fein, Festool, Mafell, Kress, Stihl, Baier, Duss, Suhner, Eibenstock ......

@Monte, who makes best tap and die units in Germany? Is Ruko any good? Thanks...
I´m not sure if Ruko is actually made here...
I think Gühring is one of the biggest and most common threading tool manufacturer from here: www.guehring.de

I hate when I can buy German brands but they are not made in Germany... I am looking for tap and die units, but here I can find only Ruko, GSR (China made) and IAT (Tool industry from Trebinje, Bosnia and Herzegowina. Back in time this company was one of biggest HSS tool producer in Europe.) If Ruko is not German made, then I will probably go with IAT units.

I missed this version of the guard rail cutting... they're using a 2x18v adapter on this one.

Thürmer is made in denmark and should be of great quality.

http://www.thurmer.com/

Thürmer, Dormer and Gühring all make fabulous threading tools.
I find I like the Gühring taps more than the others, though.
Dies are pretty much the same. I do like how Gühring color codes their taps.

Fun fact; Thürmer still makes square (also known as old European style) threading dies. Würth is known to carry these, which ensures you will need to buy the corresponding tools with them as well. The founder of the company, Fritz C. Thürmer invented the square die, which may explain why they still make them... :)
