I wonder Milwaukee North America would ever bring these over here:

Frane_Milwaukee-4in1-Driver-EU_1.jpg

If they made that in the new 18V FUEL line, I'd get one for sure.

I see you've got a couple of different ratcheting screwdrivers in there. Which one's your favorite?

My favorite would probably be this one:

unnamed_zps5vsjjc59.jpg

Followed by the Snap On. The Wera on is nice as well but my hand just doesn't get along with the shape of Wera's handles.

I really must get round to buying one of those PB Swiss ratchet drivers, I have the cheap option that many brands sell (mines a Bahco) and its nice enough but I would like a better one.

What's the ratchet mechanism like on those drivers? I've never used one but feel like for relatively loose screws etc the ratcheting function will have too much friction and won't do the job... Also do they handle the torque required to crack tight screws?

I do not usually use my ratchet screwdrivers to break overtightened bolts, although it is show very robust are not for this purpose. The mechanism of PB Swiss is very precise and this better than the Wera (which is already very good).

Very loose screws is bad for any ratchet.;)

Champo,

Those new VBW pliers look great! Congrats!

Do you think those VBW pliers have better fit and finish; and function slightly better than their Knipex and NWS counterparts?

Thanks,

Dave

I'd say on par with NWS, and better than knipex for fit and finish. Nearly everything I own from knipex has some sort of minor defect (ie peeling chrome, handle alignment etc) but the NWS and VBW tools are perfect. Maybe I'm just unlucky with knipex.

Felo heavy duty.

Used to remove the jaws on a vice I'm restoring. One screw on each jaw came out fine, the other two are stuck solid. Anyway, tried to hit them loose with a 1kg club hammer on the end of the felo, ended up obliterating the screw head.

The head of the Felo held up pretty well.

Aaah sweet tool abuse, we should have a separate section here, then maybe we could have a competition to see who's hardest on their tools :)

PB Swiss ratchets have some wobble in the shaft. I think Facom make great ratchet screwdrivers, and they just designed a new one.

Apparently Felo was the first European tool maker that made a tang-through flat blade screwdriver. Being the pioneers, they must know how to make them well.

Is anyone able to shed some light on the following link? It's not a standard set as advertised on the Stahlwille site but this company seems to have a lot of unusual Stahlwille sets... Some of their prices seem too good to be true.

I've seen them mentioned a few times on here, and everything I've read has been positive. I wouldn't hesitate to buy from them.

I've bought from this company online over a dozen times and have purchased Stahlwille, Hazet and Gedore tools in person recently from there store so they are a genuine seller. They have some fantastic prices and I understand Stahlwille has a sale right now hence why the super cheap prices on some items.

Hi,
they´re made by TTI (Milwaukee, AEG...). I don´t have much experience with other cordless impacts. For me it works good, at least for many things around the car, sometimes only the air impact get the job done though. The built quality seems ok, the german made Fein tools have a tighter fitment though and less gaps between the rubber/plastic parts and overall a better finish. Can´t say much about the durability now but since most people are happy with their Milwaukee tools....
If you want a compact impact with more power i would check out Metabo though...(SSW 18 LTX 400 BL)

OMG DROOL for those Fein offerings. I am certainly obtaining the 18v Multimaster.
 I´m in for the 12 volt Multitool

I have noticed that the Trumpf double cut/slitting shears look remarkably similar.

I can't see paying Fein prices for Milwaukee... much less Ryobi. There would have to be significant spec and construction differences, not just colors and fit/finish.

The other drawback to Fein and Festool, at least in the USA, is the lack of a "complete" system of cordless tools like DeWalt, Makita, Bosch, Milwaukee... etc.

I have a Festool cordless drill and like it, but that's it. They didn't offer anything else in the USA market at the time, except for a few different drill models.

I would like to see the EU Milwaukee drill with the interchangeable heads released in the USA in the 18V line... and a cordless sliding compound miter saw.

Kiruna-Slipen grinder. Made in Sweden I think?

A little dirty and dusty, also looks like it's been dropped on the motor side. It was free, and it works, so I can't complain.

me neither...ok i have the impact wrench but i bought the 4 speed drill made in germany and it´s worth the price :)

they never will have a full line up...but since their products seem to be good they´ll find customers:) The average wood working shop also might find everything they need in cordless tools at Festool. The average metal working shop also might find most tools they need in Feins lineup. If you need everything...ok... but who needs everything :)

I have a Festool cordless drill and like it, but that's it. They didn't offer anything else in the USA market at the time, except for a few different drill models..
Somewhere i read that 75% of the cordless tools sold are cordless drills.... In the meantime they offer a couple of cordless tools, but the question is what makes sense and will enough customers pay for it. There certainly also is a difference between buyers in the US who needs everything maybe even twice and customers outside the US who only buy what they really need.

I would like to see the EU Milwaukee drill with the interchangeable heads released in the USA in the 18V line... and a cordless sliding compound miter saw.

PM sent.

I was wondering who actually made the Fein/Trumpf shears.

I was actually hoping for a wider range of Festool (or even Fein) cordless tools to make it to the USA, but I have given up waiting. I still have the C12 drill, which is awesome, but toting multiple battery systems and chargers is a pain, unless that one item brings something special to the table. The common USA market cordless tool combo kit vendors all offer a drill, but the other stuff makes the system work.

That Systainer based Festool vacuum looks pretty cool and ideal for small tasks... not to mention easy integration with existing Systainers. I can see one of those in the future.

Those Metabo reciprocating saws look very similar to Makita.

TBS Aachen, I have had 6 orders in the last 3 years ( total c. $3500 AUD) from TBS Aachen, excellent source to buy from.

Also dropped in to say g'day on my way back to Mainz, on a day trip to Remscheid last year. Great shop. You don't get walls of Stahlwille, Knipex... in Oz

My first choice from my list of 752 suppliers, if they have the brand I require.
