The Bosch GAS 25 is from Starmix (made in Germany), the GAS 35 and 55 are made by Karcher for Bosch in Italy. The GAS 20 is made by Nilfisk iirc (in Hungary ?). The Karchers are usually made in Italy, but they also have lower grade vacuums made in Romania. The Metabo ASR 25/35/50, AS20 and ASA 32 are made by Starmix in Germany. The ASA 25 and ASA 30 are made by Nilfisk (Hungary ?). The Makita 446 and 447 as well as the VC2012L and VC3011 models are made by Nilfisk. The VC1310, VC3210 and VC 3211 are made by/in....?? I don´t know... Japan ?

I would choose a vacuum with power outlet (automatic on/off) and speed dial so you can adjust the suction for sanding by hand or weaker power tools. I would choose a vacuum with as much air flow (L/min.) and vacuum (mbar) as possible.

Thank you... I would buy Makita VC 2512L for 165 Euro. It is a new 1000 W model but it has power outlet and 25l capacity. I don't now where is it made...:dunno:

Nilfisk is a Danish company. Vacuum cleaners, IIRC.
but they don´t produce them in Denmark (or Germany) anymore... :(

I think it´s a Nilfisk AERO 26-21 PC. The Makita price is good though...
made in: :)

I very much would like to get the 52/22/6 in particular. The best price I was able to find is € 274 before tax, I don't pay tax since I'm outside the EU, but shipping is going to be another € 50 or so. I am torn between that and the Hazet 905 which comes with a breaker bar that the Sthalwille 52/22/6 doesn't have.

255 euros here ex. tax

http://www.tbs-aachen.de/Default.aspx?&TY=2&ST=1&IT=49466&CT=3519

The downside with that set, in my humble opinion, is it doesn't have the high tooth count quick release 512 QR N ratchet (or QR extensions).

hold on,, let me get this straight.. Makita VC2512L is the same as Nilfisk Aero 26-21?

cheapest i have seen that nilfisk here is 250euros. and makita for 180 or so. for "same" machine that makes it very tempting. i didnt consider makita vacuum beeing near quality of nilfisk and like pro machines. and now you are telling me they are just rebranded.. and so much cheaper too. wow.

i do need a vacuum that can **** water out. and it might be handy to have a vacuum that could do dust too instead of just water. i use water vacuum at work and need/would like to have, a cheaper option for home use. so i have been looking at nilfisk and kärcher etc ..the cheaper options (like Kärcher NT 27/1 ME, 320euro or so)

WETROK twinvac 18 is the one i have been using at work for years (until i broke few months ago), but that is a bit steep priced here for home use. (over 700euros). my current work machine has so clumsy and stiff suction air/water hose that i hate it, HAKO supervac L1-30 (price 400e or so). TASKI vacumat have been awesome too (had it only for few days but it didi felt the best of these three)

-------
i think on stahlwille..shopping around. they are pretty even priced as general but some dealers have some good deals going on. over here in finland they are alot more expensive than from germany. stahlwille ratchering wrench set 17/12 in germany 147euros and maybe 13e postage on top. and same set from here 230e + 7e postage. (+60 euro difference in price.. you bet i rather buy them from somewhere in europe like tbs than here.)
-----

has anyone gotten the non chokolate version of christmas advent calender from wera.. and opened it up in advance to check out the tools. is it worth the 50e price tag or not?

I have the Wera advent calendar, but I haven't opened it yet, wouldn't be right to.
I suspect if you wait you'll be able to get it cheaper, I doubt they will all be sold out before December the 1st.

Thats a good price, do you mind posting a link?

255 euros here ex. tax

Maybe it would be a good idea to buy things separately and mix and match, that way you have everything you want like the Quick Release, but then its a lot of work and you wouldn't have the cool metal toolbox :)

yeah Nilfisk, Karcher and Starmix are the common options. These brands will offer a certain quality and spare parts are available for years.

WETROK twinvac 18 is the one i have been using at work for years (until i broke few months ago), but that is a bit steep priced here for home use. Looks like you work in professional cleaning ? But can´t a 700 euro machine be repaired ?

Screwdriver test in German language http://m.motorradonline.de/motorradzubehoer/15-schraubendreher-paare-im-vergleichstest/681066
The best in this test is felo ergonic

Thanks for sharing, very interesting!

Personally, I don´t think it would be fair to say that the test winner is really superior to the other screwdrivers that obtained a very good (sehr gut) or good (gut), but I guess there are a few good insights in this test. One is probably that quality comes at a price, and that the minimum one should expect to invest in a screwdriver per piece is around five dollars. Other than that, I guess it comes a lot to personal preference and brand image when deciding between established brands such as Wiha, Wera, Felo, Hazet, Gedore, etc. I would have liked to see Facom and PB Swiss in this test...

I believe when you buy a big brand name screwdriver like all the names you mentioned you can't go wrong. Also the other interesting thing is that the hazet and the gedore are produced by the same manufacturer but they have different Rockwell measurements according to the test.
Thanks!!!!!

I looked up the INOX version. I don't really understand what makes it 'made for stainless steel'. Heres the metabo page for it: http://www.metabo.us/WE-14-125-Inox-Plus.37370.0.html

Just curious to understand what qualifies it as made for INOX, that other metabo grinders don't have??

I have both. I think they may be made by Oplast in Slovenia .

http://www.oplast.si/index.php?id=2&tip=vsebina&vsebina=1&jezik=en&menu=2

The handles are the big difference which is of course subjective to the user. My 14mm Gedore weapon with hammer cap says made in Slovenia on it.

I also have some Felo screwdivers which was the group test winner in another German magazine. The Hazet came second. The deciding factor was how much torque they could put through the handles by hand.

less rpm 2-7k rpm , and probably more torque
when you grind stainless with high rpm you'll get some discoloration

this is on my buy list,

I use an eibenstock polisher to grind stainless

I don't really understand the difference either. I've one of the much cheaper and humble 1000w models. It still has Vari-speed 2800-10500 rpm, constant speed under load electronics and is made in Germany.

monte: fixing the wetrok.. according to our boss it is not cost effective to fix it anymore.. something motorwise is gone for good. (i will ask to take it home with me next week so it dont get thrown away.. maybe i can find a another broken machine somewhere some day that i can cannibalize them to make one working sample.) and yeah. thats what i do atm, clean **** out. :D (ok, maintenance, but mostly wash, wax and polish floors)

..and dude.. your knowledge of these things always keeps surprising me. just like that, you can list yet another half a dozen copies/rebranded shopvacs by nilfisk. monte you rock. :D

dont happen to know a cheaper rebranded version of taski or wetrok? hahahah.

What's the opinion about Nilfisk vs Fein, Bosch(Starmix?) etc. Just a general opinion about performance/durability, not so much a model vs model comparison.

more torque at the proper speeds for stainless and better suited for polishing/finishing etc. compared to regular models.

Here for example some recommended speeds for finishing discs:
http://www.cibo.be/en/products/gamma/flap-discs/rcd-conical
or unitized discs:
http://www.pferdusa.com/products/204p/204p06/204p0601P.html
cleaning discs 5000-7000rpm (good for regular steel too, for removing paint or rust)
http://www.pferdusa.com/products/204q/204q04P.html
or if you use Roloc discs:
http://www.pferdusa.com/products/204p/204p12/204p120202P.html
non-woven abrasives:
http://www.pferdusa.com/products/204p/204p10P.html
sc-discs:
http://www.pferdusa.com/products/204p/204p09/204p0901P.html

so you see a "INOX" grinder is perfect for many applications whether you work with stainless steel, aluminium or regular steel. :)
My 14mm Gedore weapon with hammer cap says made in Slovenia on it.
nice pry bar:)

the 1000W model (2800-10500 rpm) has 2.7NM torque (at full speed ?) and a under load speed of 8800 rpm. The INOX model (2000 - 7600 rpm) has 5NM (at 7600 rpm?) and a under load speed of 7600rpm.
So the first difference is the constant electronics module ("VC" and "VTC" electronics with different under load speeds).
Second difference: Torque: If you reduce the speed of the 1000W model by let´s say 30% from 10500 to about 7500 rpm you will also reduce the torque by 30% (i think) so you have about 2 NM left whereas the INOX model offers 5NM under load. So the INOX model is 2.5 times more powerful at that speed plus it comes with the better electronics with more stable speed under load plus it has more input/output power so overall it´s the much stronger tool (at lower speeds).
monte: fixing the wetrok.. according to our boss it is not cost effective to fix it anymore.. something motorwise is gone for good. (i will ask to take it home with me next week so it dont get thrown away.. maybe i can find a another broken machine somewhere some day that i can cannibalize them to make one working sample.) and yeah. thats what i do atm, clean **** out. :D (ok, maintenance, but mostly wash, wax and polish floors) .
maybe the brushes are gone :) If it´s the motor..... most motors for vacuums are made by Domel and Ametek...at least in germany available at Ebay...
maybe you have some pics of your disc floor machine and floor scrubber :)

..and dude.. your knowledge of these things always keeps surprising me. just like that, you can list yet another half a dozen copies/rebranded shopvacs by nilfisk. monte you rock. :D.
i only collected infos of the common "powertool vacuums/shop vacuums" distributed by power tool companies to figure out which is a good one and which options are necessary. There are also way too many professional/industrial vacuum brands around to know everything...i can list some brand names but i don´t know anything about them....Lindhaus, Hako, Evo, Cleanfix, Lavor, Ribo, Delfin, Carrera, Dustcontrol, Sprintus, Ringler, Nilco, Sebo... :)
dont happen to know a cheaper rebranded version of taski or wetrok? hahahah.
:) unfortunately no :) iirc one of the Taski upright vacuums is/was supplied by Lindhaus so you might want to check that out :)
this is mostly bs, it will try to keep the rpm but fail miserably when you have to grind tens of meters of weld per day with the smaller one, think production/industrial enviroment
Did you try one of the new 1700 Watt angle grinders from Metabo, Bosch or Fein ? :)
What's the opinion about Nilfisk vs Fein, Bosch(Starmix?) etc. Just a general opinion about performance/durability, not so much a model vs model comparison.
the more you pay the more you get :) more air flow, more vacuum, 2-stage motor etc. But it´s difficult to say which one ultimately is the best brand. There are differences in detail for example the filter cleaning systems.

pics of the polisher? it's somewhere in the basement , I don't do any metal work anymore, I'll look for it tomorrow. Will take pictures of my grinding set-up, fastest and most cost effective I found yet.

As for the newer grinders.. no I didn't , I have a bosch variable speed for light grinding/finishing and a Flex for cutting both 125mm and both south of 10 years old
Wish I had that metabo Inox years ago, think I'm going to buy one anyway

If nothing else helps...

All bought on the US Gedore Closeout site, except for the Rotpunkt which I got from my father. I am not sure if the Gedore Closeout site still exists...

12 piece Gedore combination wrenches. Bought for around $55 on Amazon (this was just for a few hours and I saw that by coincidence on the Garage Journal hot deals section). Many thanks to the original poster there. Open end Gedore as a comparison. I am not sure if there is a difference between "Made in Germany" and just "Germany".

Finally bought myself my dream toolbox (with the current $ to € rate I would need to get a mortgage for Snap-On):

Beta C24SA XL

And some filling bought with it (not yet everything in it, still have to move my older Beta stuff in the top drawers and all the other stuff in the lower ones ;-) )

My old folding (Beta) tool chart will be used for the odd tools like woodwork tools etc.
