That's odd, you've got 15A breakers? Here even the lighting circuits typically run off 230V 16A breakers. Hell, our 30 year old vacuum cleaner draws 2000W
20A breakers, but the plugs/outlets are 15A rated most of the time. 20A outlets are available, but not common.

Our outlets are 13A 230v, breakers usually 32A, industrial outlets are 16A, 32A or 63A after that I don't know what's next.

After i find out that my new Mitutoyo digital calipers was fake, i was very disappointed.
I decided my new digital caliper not to be a Mitutoyo (even though for 15 years I worked only with those) because fake Mitutoyo calipers are the majority on the net, especially on ebay.
So i bought these Swiss made Sylvac digital calipers. The small one is for a friend here...

Nice calipers, I had never heard of the brand. But it is Swiss made so it must be very accurate and wellmade.

I don't think it is made by Gedore. It looks asian, who does know the OEM? Luckily I bought it on sale for like 50 euros. If your gonna pay the normal price (almost 100 euros), you better spent iton a real measuring tool brand.
And what are your experiences with digital calipers, mine uses a lot of batteries. I dont use it that often but the battery doesn't last longer than a year. No big deal cause a battery is cheap and fast replaced. I just need to keep one in stock

I looked at several models around 3 HP and less from Stihl, Husqvarna, Dolmar and Hitachi. But all saws except the Dolmar PS 350 and 420 are made out of plastic. The cheaper stihls also have plastic tooth. What i did like about the Stihls was the see-through gas and oil tanks. I think Husqvarnas have the clutch on the outside ? Don´t like that too much. Hitachi: Simply looks too cheap
.....So Dolmar for me....best price/performance/features. A stihl etc. is 100.- more. Dolmar PS 420 SC cheapest price over here: 326.-€230mm power in a small and light package

Never have issues with batteries even with the old black version, like the fake one, which always forget to push the close button. And we 're talking about professional usage. Back in the good days the caliper was working 18 hours a day flawlessly.
Now i'm working with Tesa the older model. It' ok, but have appearance issues...

I was very disappointed, this is after only one use doing suspension work on my vehicle, and I like my tools enough not to abuse them. It looks and feels even worse in person, pictures are not clear enough

The Gedores did better than Hazets. Certainly nothing wrong with their hardness figures. Personally I prefer Stahlwilles though.

I was not aware of that, thanks for pointing that out. Very disconcerting. How do you distinguish fake from real ones? Are there any official sellers on ebay or online for the US?

Very nice!
We use Sylvac extensively here at work and they are very good items. The best feature of the S-cal Pro vernier is that it switches on automatically when you use it. It is also IP67 rated which means it withstands contact with fluids and oils etc. Handy when using it inside the CNC.
TESA IP67 - Haven't seen much use so it is in very good condition. Seems accurate, switches off automatically and in general when I was looking around it came on top of the reviews with a few others, including the original Mitutoyo.

I found this relic in my inspection room while looking through the drawers for some gauges! it was really abused by the previous inspectors and machinist, nonetheless very cool.
I've bought from amazon, that is genuine. Your safest bet is buying from an official distributor of Mitutoyo. Unfortunately, these calipers fall into the same demise as Nikes, Louis Vouton, Prada, and so on as counterfeiting targets. I usually order from MSC, as I know someone who can get me killer deals that noone can match.
If you have a machinist's eye, you can easily tell that the caliper is of poor manufacturing quality upon holding it. Other than that, don't cheap on your tools. If it is too good to be true, it probably is.

It doesn't look that beat up. What's odd is that the indicator is calibrated in ten thousandths of an inch, but the tips appear to be sized in mm.

losvre, what I meant to say is that if someone posted five photos for example, and I liked the photos and wanted to respond to it, I don't have to include all the pictures that have been posted already in my reply/respond to the OP because it will be mundane and repetitive when you have to scroll through the same photos that have been re-posted over and over. I know it will require a bit of work to edit the quoted text, but its a good idea to keep the already massive thread organized.

Check some videos on YouTube, battery cap and the battery itself (LR44 instead of SR44).
My seller on ebay has sold a lots of them too. All feedbacks positive.
