Hopefully we'll see a bit of honesty from the companies Monte has emailed !

I've got some Compac bogie wheels and stands ordered last week. See this thread for photos

These stands are 100% British made. Melco 4 ton high-lift.
I emailed Compac and they just answered with their jibber-jabber about how they are a Danish company and will givr you three years of warranty.
If they turn out to be Made in Denmark let me know!

Very nice Mr. MoAizo. I need to fill out my Koken etorx set.....your post is right on time.

Koken looking good!

New Ko-ken.
All made in Japan.
Mr MoAiZo,

Wow! Very nice Ko-ken tool purchases!
Can you please provide me the Ko-ken model numbers of the 3/8" drive 140mm long, Torx bit sockets (T9, T10, T20, T25, T30)?
Can you also please provide me the Ko-ken model numbers of the 1/2" drive 140mm long, Torx bit sockets (T45, T50, T55, T60)?

Thanks,

Dave

The 3/8" are 3025-140 Txx and the 1/2" are 4025-140 Txx

Oh wow.

Looks like you solved the mystery of who makes the Hakko CHP-170s. They're SUPER cheap here ($4 USD!), I wonder how they ever make money on them.

I'll report back when they come in. Unless somebody stands over the shoulder of the man doing the welding we may never really know !

Monte, I noticed you had set of PB-Swiss picks (blue handle) in your toolbox. Do you ever use them or can small screwdrivers do the same sort of thing ?

For what it's worth, I have that set too, and use it a lot!

One of the tools is actually a seal puller, and that's the tool I use most! You can hook out even the smallest o rings with just a twist!

Just received a email from Chicago Pneumatic/Desoutter a.k.a. Rodcraft: The "UBS" jack stand range is made in Germany, the "UBZ" range is made in China.

Made in China range:

sometimes a small screwdriver works, but sometimes only a hook. For example we overhauled VW Diesel injectors last weekend and each injector has 4 rubber o-rings (iirc). So with a small hook it was possible to remove the o-rings without damaging the surface of the injector. You also can use these tools as a mini scriber, to pierce through cotton, leather, cardboard, paper etc.
The german hook/pick sets have a slightly beefier blade though:

OK, sounds like more wallet abuse for me.

At £ 13.70, these are actually pretty good, too. I have used them a few times. I think, if I am not mistaken, they are the OEM for Snap-On. Just more options for you wallet :D

Am I late for the Piergiacomi party?
pier.jpg

Never really use any other electronics cutters, the one on top is a more durable variant, at least in my experience.
giacomi.jpg

Related electrician goodies, very well preserved and still in use... West Germany Weicon 100! (last time used, less than 12h ago)
This and a Jokari make an excellent team.
weicon100.jpg

More stripping, adjustable coaxial tool, recent purchase from the imho best company in the business
cst-vario.jpg

(I liked the regular fixed blade CST to be honest, this new model's blades get pulled apart a bit too often... one must be rather gentle)

Next on, trusty cabinet builders machine gun (wire cutter, stripper, crimper), about a good third into the declared 50.000 cycles. No gentle here!
Took it apart a couple of times and its as good as new inside, a little grease helped with the crispness.
stripax.jpg

A recent present!

Gee wander what's inside, its "just" Wiha :lol2:
festool.jpg

All metal Beta I got last year with a broken retainer washer, that I promptly replaced.

And last week purchase, a ss-omething

Featherweight impact drill, drilling way up with extended arm is no big deal.
Saved from shop dust, really nice price.

Check out this japanese drill... o wait makita corporation, Made in Germany...

That Festool set is actually a mix of a few different brands. The Centrofix adapter is Wiha, but the ratchet is made by Felo. Not sure about socket origin.

Arrived today. Compac CAX 2H. A 2 ton stand 43cm to 74cm. weigh 5.8 Kg on my scales. I probably wouldn't put the full weight of a car on the maximum elevation, no higher than in the photo. I've got some bigger 6 ton high-lift for that.

The pin locks in position securely and the feet are fully welded, not tack welded. They are date stamped 10/2015

In the background the Compac front bogie wheels. These are a major construction at 7 Kg a pair.

Compac price these per stand. I paid 39 euro each. It may be cheaper to buy a pair from the 3 German companies who also brand them. (See earlier posts)

OMCN make a range of jacks and stands in Italy.

The stands tend to be on the expensive side but not unreasonable .

The low entry high-lift jacks are nice.

For someone in the UK I can recommend the German dealer's Rosner Werkzeuge website linked above.
A 20 Kg box was shipped to me for 15 euros. Bizarrely my local postman delivered it and really struggled up my long driveway with it !

If you are VAT registered they ship without any tax added.

Thanks for the pictures.
To be honest, I think I will buy them.
But 'Made in Denmark' is not mentioned, only that the company which sells them is located in Denmark.

Just to clarify, German tool experten Monte thinks, the balance of probability, is Compac stands are made in Germany by Hoesl-Hebetechnik

http://www.rp-tools.at/HOESL-HEBETECHNIK

The same company makes the stands for AC-Hydraulic dk.

What are you planning to use them for ? The heavy duty 5 ton CAX 5 might be more suitable.

Hoesl was my second choice. But the Compacs are cheaper and from your pictures they seem to be wll made.
I bought 4x'2H' and if they satisfy me I will buy four '8' with spindle.

I need them for a project car and for general maintenance where the cars will be switched more often from the stands (hence the '2H').

Here is my recently acquired Record Vice. Model 35p, very old and very strong with almost no play or misalignment except on the sides where the jaws are slightly distorted by many years of usage. Weight is about 23kg and you the mechanism acts like a press; turns with one finger but the force and grip is really amazing.
nice vice :)
Wanted to buy some too. Are they any good ?
yes :)

There is not much wobble or play between the parts, the wheels turn easily, the wheels are screwed to the body instead of riveted so you can exchange them, the bearing is "covered", you can´t see the individual balls of the bearing like on cheap castors, there is a "crown" inside the bearing which hold each ball into place so the force is evenly distributed to each ball of the bearing (cheap castors don´t have this feature, there is a space between the balls so the load is not evenly distributed.). The body and upper part are "dynamically" attached which means that during the pressing process the main body and the upper plate are rotated so the balls can "run in/break in" a "path" into the housing so they sit perfectly. Other companies don´t do that always and simply press the parts together so the bearing might not work as good as the Blickle ones. Thats at least what the Blickle distributor told me today:) The pictured Blickle wheels are just standard "furniture wheels", in the meantime i bought 2 sets stamped steel/rubber wheels which are more heavy duty and even better :) They also have a rubber seal around the bearing which is crimped into the steel body and not just put around the bearing :)
Made in Germany :D

Nice work !
thanks :) just a quick project...

Good day all,

I have had hard time to find an inspection lamp. Eventually I ordered a Sealey professional online but it feels cheap sh@.
Do you think i could find a similar one but better quality? I prefer one without the wire shield on the front because it is annoying when light project the shadow of it.

Then there are some led floor lights, what do you recommend?

Thanks!
