I've been in the market for a new impact wrench for a bit. I was going to buy a Makita but then I saw the Metabo ssw 18 LTX 400 on here and decided that was what i really needed :rocker: I also picked up some Wera 1/2in sockets and extensions and a pair of Knipex flush cuts.

Congratulations, nice impact wrench. 295 foot pound of torque is no sloth.

It seems like most of the Metabo Made in China stuff is no good. Is this true for the high end cordless miter saw they have too?
i think it has more to do with the price you are (not) willing to pay...Metabo tools are mainly made for the professional user so i´m pretty sure every chinese Metabo tool will outlast a similar Harbour Freight tool for example. So "no good" is subjective :)

...and the addiction starts....:)

Friend got the Hazet 9020P-2 kit. He says his 1/4" NPT fitting won't fit in it. Does this use some other kind of fitting?
doesn´t fit at all or only fits in a few turns ?

some more Gedore impact sockets: 1 1/16", 1 1/8", 1 1/4", 1 5/16"

This one?

I could only find it for ~$60-some, I was going to try out the Makita one, which might or might not work depending on how thick the base is on the Makita vs the Metabo. It should fit right in the slot that's available for the circle cutting/parallel guide.

I see the cordless has the same adjustment bar for the orbital adjustment. I've found it to be the real fault in the Metabo design. I have 2 of these jigsaws, and both of them will wiggle/vibrate from wherever I've set them to usually the number 4 (highest setting) for orbital.

Even considered trying to warranty them to see if it was just a faulting ball detent, or adjusting lever, but Metabo never even responded to my warranty inquiry email :(

I used it last night a little bit and it never moved from its #1 position. The switch for the fan is a little chintzy (though it also never moved), but the orbit selection is solid.

I think with warranty your best bet is to go through a local dealer.

Apparently your local dealer can get anything that has a Metabo part number. I haven't tried it myself, but it's worth a try.

So I am in the market for a bench vice, the only thing available in my area that is not cast iron is this Gedore 411-150. I am afraid buying online is not an option for me. What do you all think of it? I need it for general use and some metal fabrication. Its listed for 266 euros.

Buy it now.

That's a forged steel vise that will last the rest of your life and then some. There's a Garage Journal post coming in 2116 where a guy is restoring a hundred year old Gedore bench vise (using a flux capacitor to strip the old paint and runs, of course!).

Thanks for reassuring! I was a bit weary of a vice with no replaceable jaws, but I guess with some protective jaws, and my intended use that shouldn't be a problem.

If it's the only thing available near you I guess you do t have much choice [emoji6]

I have no experience with Gedore vises but if it's anything like the rest of their tools it will be decent. The price tag is certainly inline with the rest of their tools.

It looks a bit like a Heuer vise but not quite. Possibly made by Heuer for Gedore? Monte?

Where do you live?I think this vice is made by Kanca. They make some really good vices.Maybe you can find some Kanca vices locally or online cheaper than the Gedore.

Well, its not the only thing available, but it seems the only one that is steel and not cast iron.

Thanks for the info. I live in Qatar, small Mideastern country, so shopping online for a 20+ Kg vice is not an attractive option i would say. I have looked around both online and locally, the only thing I found that seems decent is this Gedore vice at the local Gedore dealer. I am familiar with Gedore top quality hand tools, but I cant say the same about the vice, that's why I asked if anyone used it before.

The Fein vacuums are made by Kärcher.

The Ridgid vises are made in Germany.

I managed to visit another Slovene tool factory.
This time it was Tovarna meril Kovine that specialises in levels and has a complete lineup of measuring equipment.

I obviously didn't manage to leave empty handed.

(tape measure key chains are the best key chains)

My favorite square, stainless steel/aluminum with engraved markings and numbers.
Took a 50cm one to pair and identical 25cm I have.
Small toolbox square to go with it just because.

A 25mm micrometer! They also manufacture calipers.

Scarpa Mojito. Italian boot company with a factory in Romania. If your clambering around on wet surfaces or on roofs I've found the soles on these remarkably grippy. I've had many Vibram patterns over the years on footware and these are amazing. The soft compound probably wont last long but these are lightweight boots that are a cross between a rock climbing shoe, walking boot and sneaker.
