I was looking at Jens' website for Hazet combo wrenches (600). What's the difference between a 600N and a 600SPC? Is the 'special traction profile' like Flank Drive +?

First new stuff from Gedore in my garage...

Gedore Combination ratchet spanner set 8-19 No. 7 R - 012 :D

Gedore tubular box spanner KD 626-8 (6-22) :D

I'm a little surprised, and I have to admit, Stahlwille combination ratchet spanner set No.17/5 looks and feel in hand little better than a Gedore set No. 7 R - 012 . But time will tell... Pictures of Stahlwille set coming soon :)

Nice Gedore.

The Stahlwille 17/5 ratcheting wrenches are made in Taiwan which might explain why the German made 7 R feel more special.

The SPC suffix is used for some tools and sets which are listed in their 'special worldwide' catalogue. No difference in the tools themselves.

The traction profile denotes a flank drive style ring end - I can't think of a German made spanner with a flank drive plus style open end.

:+1:

Somehow it's seems to be a North American phenomenon. None of the Japanese brands offer it either (with the exception of Taiwanese imports).

Thanks.

But, opposite Stahlwille set for me is a little better :D
COO does not play a big role, if QA/QC department is doing its job (for example Facom ratchets).

Yes, it seems to be a must have for the U.S. brands, whereas others don't seem to be bothered by the lack of it. The only European brand I can think of that has the feature is Facom - on some of their ratchetig ring spanners, and I suppose that may have been forced upon them by the Stanley/B&D mothership.

I have some GearWrench spanners with the flank drive plus open end, and although i have used it on a few occosions, it wasn't my first consideration for buying them. Just handy that the option is out there.

ok if you did order for several 1000$ it would hurt... :) that they did charge more than they said....not good...i only did order there once - no problems....most people seem to be happy though...

Not several thousand, but enough that it makes a difference. And despite the amount of past and current orders, they still haven't responded to my inquiry about the over-charge, but they did today send an e-mail telling me stock on an item was delayed.

Bought these secondhand €2 a piece, but something went wrong on these it seems. They're all labeled 'T50', even the XZN ones:

Yeah, that seems to be what happened, can't tell what brand bits are actually inside, but they seem to be decent. I just used the biggest torx (T50 I guess :p) last weekend on a really nasty citroen engine mount without any drama.

I have recently got a few Sandflex made in sweded and they were all lasted for cutting 1-2 small bolts each (not stainless).

I think the blue viking blades might be the best. I also have used a facom one and seems decent.

Quality goes down due to competition in the industry, unfortunately:mad:

Thanks for input HCNDM

You're welcome.

You did make me realize something though. The builders supply place across the road from my house caters primarily to construction companies and not to consumers like me.

They have festool but also Makita in the slightly cheaper bracket.

They have Gedore but also a cheaper made in Germany brand.

What they don't have is cheap sh$&@. Even their cheaper tools are made to last and survive abuse. The same with their consumables.

In all cases they far more expensive than online especially when compared to german we shops like tbs. for tools because their consumables are competitive.

But that's not the point I am trying to make. The point I am trying to make is that building supply stores that do not cater to consumers tend to sell decent ( not necessarily top end) stuff that gets the job done.

The tools are also on average, miles better what large diy stores sell. They also stock brands that perform but that i personally never heard of. The eclipse hacksaw blade above, but also the Izars Spanish drills I got recently. Two brands that were new to me but proving themselves regularly as high performers.

Some will be very affordable some cheaper online, but either way just looking through the shelves saves me a bunch of research time because I am pretty much guaranteed any brand that is stocked will do the job well.

Edit: keep in mind employers supply tools in holland and labor is the single largest cost of any construction project. Poor tools equal longer time equal greater cost. Building being expensive as is the tools used tend to be pretty good. Having renovated large parts of the house in the last two years the least I saw any contractor walk through the door with was Makita. Most use Bosch blue or festool. Handtools same: lots of Irwin, Gedore, peddinghaus hammers, Wera screwdrivers etc. and the contractors I hire tend to be small businesses and not top of the market.

P.s.

On the sand flex blades; I still buy them as they are readily available and cheap. I stopped using them for steel. I use them for copper and pvc. I find they cut quicker and extremely straight on these materials. Both being soft materials the sand flex blades don't wear the teeth of like they do on steel for which I get the slightly more expensive eclipse blades.

I was going to post that the only European brand was Facom (thinking that it'll get something similar to MAC's Precision Torque profile), but doing a search on google, and to my surprise, I didn't come across one. I think the one you're thinking of is this?:

header-467R.png

That's a typical profile for a speed wrench; not a flank-drive plus feature.

Come to think of it, Wera's Joker wrench should be noted as it has a anti-slip feature on the spanner end.

My Bahco screwdriver was posing for a shot :D

Hi guys, don't know if this help, I usually buy and use Bahco Sweden blades and don't have any problem, never any issue cutting iron and steel, but a friend had a trouble, after send it for guarantee the report from Bahco saying

"the blade it's a fake, a low quality imitations".

After that Bahco posted a warning note in the web page.

after that only buy in trusted sellers

That's a good one I do get these online sometimes.

Current batch is big diy store bought . While it's not impossible that they get fakes in their supply chain it's also less likely. Haven't tried these on steel yet.

May stick a bolt in the vise later today and give it a go to see.

Well maybe Bahco shiuldn't have moved some production to China
Ditto, however in an economy based on cheap items it is difficult to compete.

Let aside that the buying power of people has been diminished. Everything is on credit and borrowed money!

@hautpot

All 3 pliers are high end !

differences: (imho)

the thickness of the jaws

Cobra-0,75mm
Quattro-Grip 0,72mm
Maxi Mx2-0,62mm

The adjustment of the Cobra is the finest, second Quattro Grip, third place Maxi Mx2, you can not go wrong with all 3s.

I got mine from Hornbach Kerkrade in Netherlands. Now I realise why 3 blades cost less than 5 Euros!!!

For those of you in the US--from where are you ordering your PB Swiss tools?
There's a few places that sell PB Swiss here in the US that I'm aware of:

1. PB Swiss Tools Online Store (they also sell on Amazon; direct link to their store).

2. Tool Lady (not the easiest site to navigate IME).

3. There's also eBay sellers, including some in Germany I've purchased from (trick is to search by the P/N; German seller I've used). FWIW, this has been the least expensive route IME, as I missed all the good sales on Amazon a few years ago or so (found out too late). Never had any problems, and shipping is both reasonable and fast (air mail to the US, then by truck takes ~ 1 - 1.5 weeks).

Very nice Wurth stuff!

Does anyone own or have experience with:

Fein Multimaster Fmm 350 Q

c920669b4320942b392c6af3adb38a22.jpg

Starting the main living space renovation in the house and outside doors and window sills / frames also need paint this summer.

Needs to do a lot of scraping, odd precise cuts, and sanding.

I borrowed my dads Makita 18v cordless oscillating when I did the upstairs last year. It vibrates to the point you hands hurt after an hour.
