I think it is affiliated with Solingen and/or NWS. The tools should be pretty good but I only own a couple of letter and number sets -4mm & 6mm- not any tools.

We had that problem at work with regards to our webshop. Our solution for the time being is switch off the spam filters and hire an entry level customer service rep, and manually page through all the mail to make sure no customers are missed. An expensive option and certainly not a fun job.

. Some few weeks ago I acquired a Metabo BE 75-16, and now I am a huge fan of Metabo, what a beast.Very nice indeed. The tool at the very left doesn't seem to belong

Before anyone buys more Metabo, heres a recent experience I've had with them. Even if the flaw was minor, it was recognized as a flaw, not addressed, and think their customer service and quality control is therefore very disappointing.

I think there is not such a problem to exchange it.Some german tool companies do not have great quality control.......I have bought a gedore 1/2 socket set and came with 2 same number sockets.I am still waiting for a responce after one year.....[emoji35] [emoji35] [emoji35]Before anyone buys more Metabo, heres a recent experience I've had with them. For Gedore I have to say they are the worst. I have sent them numerous emails never got an answer. Also, after having a few GEDORE items and seen the quality I would buy Facom Taiwan or KS tools instead.
Metabo UK on the other hand they have always replied all my emails including silly ones about the "actual dimensions" of the drill[emoji14]

Sorry PureLeaf for your troubles with that Metabo drill. I hope that it's just a cosmetic blemish as you have been assured. The BE 75-16 I got is both a beast and with good finish. I bought it at a local store so I was able to see/inspect it before committing. Had I known about the Metabo BE 1100, I would have opted for that instead, seems like a monster, oh well.
Yes whats most unfortunate is Metabo is now quite readily available here in the states. So it'd be a very easy company to spend lots of money with, but after this experience, I'm definitely done buying their products.
Unfortunately other options like Fein seem to carry far less products here, and generally charge significantly higher prices except on occasional low priced deals. I think its just an availability issue that really causes the prices to be so high..?

Customer service might vary from country to country...I had a good experience with a defective chuck.
Please contact the dealer where you bought the set.
Feins have a burr too so they´re out...

Same story in holland. By law the party that sells you a product has to warranty it. Some try to redirect you to the manufacturer but there's an easy govt site to file a complaint at which point they stop trying.
As all power tools also have two year warranty by law.
The whole Eu (iirc) has a 14 day return no questions asked law if the product isn't used and you pay shipping.
All of the above is nice but then we pay more too for many products so its built into the price.
It does make warranty a lot more hassle free, and should guarantee decent service at least the first two years.
Interesting fact; zippers on jeans carry a three year warranty by law in holland. My jeans rarely last that long but if the zipper ever breaks you can have it replaced free. I have yet to find someone that has done this.

Monte, that Fein you have the picture of looks very good. Much better than my Metabo:

Anyone have a decent drill bit sharpening solution readily and affordably available this side of the pond.
Seems the drill Doctor is pretty popular with the US crowd but the base model starts at 132 euros plus minus a little.
Amazon us has the same model for 50 usd but then I have a 110v problem.
Should I just **** it up and learn to sharpen on a bench grinder?

yep! It's actually quite enjoyable and shouldn't take more than an hour of messing around, killing cheap old drill bits (they need to DIE anyway ), to get the hang of it.
My uncle found an old jute bag in his garage with some wrenches that belonged to my grandfather and immediately gave them to me, which I really appreciate.

I have a thing called a 'Martek' drill sharpener. It seems to work quite well. Bought it at a show a few years back. Wasn't much money as I recall, because you power it by attaching any power drill. Having said that, it's only a plastic thing so wouldn't take pro use!
Eclipse used to make a drill sharpener years ago that you used on a whetstone. Worked ok, but slow!
You can get drill grinding jigs that attach to a bench grinder. This is the way to go as they are quick and easy to use, if you have a grinder already.
I have one, but unless the application is critical I mostly grind freehand now - it's not that hard to master! I only use the Martek for cobalt drills as I don't have a green stone on my grinder!
