Wolf Garten flower trowel
MSRP 3.99€ :)

That's great, I love this ordinary household stuff that is made in Germany. You never find it in the USA. My wife and I travel to Germany on vacation from time to time, and we love going into places like supermarkets and stocking up on German made spatulas and other kitchen tools, or simple garden tools. They are cheap and easy to bring back home.

Very good aku blower form Stihl:thumbup: First impression?
so far so good :). It is light weight, well balanced, and blows good :) At least you can blow away leaves, garbage, sand, smaller heavier items like acorns, small branches, small stones etc.... I like it. The battery last only a few minutes though ( i only have the small battery so far (1.6AH (?)))

Pokemon :D

Hello all,

Do you know any reputable brand to get short length sockets other than Snapon and Koken?

These two are very expensive for using them once in a while.

Thanks

Hey Losvre,

I would probably go facom, or stahlwille. Both regularly on special at tbs Aachen.

Amazon.de stocks tekton sockets. I got a few sets shallow SAE and metric to fill out my 3/8 and have been pleasantly surprised by the quality and finish. They are also cheap! So they win the value for money in my books.

Hello HCNDM,

Thanks for the reply. I have checked Facom and Wille and the length is "normal" 22 and 23mm, respectively.

I am looking into Tekton although I cannot find any dimensions.

Hey Losvre,

On the road at the moment and brought the facoms for the roadkit so cant measure till I get home. Gut feeling says the shallows are about 16 - 18 mm deep or so on the 3/8. Certainly about half a cm (maybe 4mm) shorter than the facom normals.

What I did when I got mine was Mail tekton support in the US and described what I needed.

They got back to me within a day with print screens from their catalogues and dimensions. I used the part numbers on my Amazon search.

The shallows I got were impact (black in red case) and iirc the description in German said extra kurtz meaning extra short.

Hope that helps.

On a side note I also got a 3/8 and 1/4 ratchet from tekton. It's not facom or stahlwille but pretty damn close and a lot cheaper.

There's multiple sellers selling tekton on Amazon.de

Only tekton itself does prime and good pricing

Nice wiha grip. Need one now!

I have had mixed experiences with bahco the last few years. Some of their stuff is still great. The ratcheting screwdriver I got recently is excellent and the included bits ok too. (Still replaced the bits with wera)..

And then I'll go buy something from them and it turns out to be complete sh@?.

Apparently there are multiple lines of tools within the bahco brand and they are certainly not all equal.

The ergo seams to be one of the better lines matching the quality of old.

That said for me at least it is difficult to consistently tell the **** from the quality and I don't really feel like spending hours to figure out how to tell the difference. For instance bit hardness won't tell till first use...

Frustrating to say the least.

It seems that Gedore makes tools for the Spanish market under the name of Belotta.
Here is a nice auction of gedore/belotta tools: https://www.troostwijkauctions.com/nl/werkzeuge/01-23060/

Large quantities for the serious collectors

Belotta... very interesting, had never heard of this one, thanks for sharing.

The webpage your link goes to says "Belotta Werkzeuge", but it seems it is actually Bellota and not Belotta (this is what the tools say when you click on the pictures).

Could not find much about the origin of Bellota, but found a catalog (pdf file). The quality of the catalog looks very decent (design-wise). Tools apparently don´t have a CoO. But I think the adjustable water pump pliers are old Orbis. No idea about the wrenches, though. We need Monte eand his army of forum assistants to figure that out

I think you got an older model. The newer ones play Nena, Scorpions, and Ramstein, serve beer (Bier) at 5-8 degree Celsius, and have a direct wireless interface to Audis, BMWs, and Mercedes.

I second this but still have great love for my Wera, Wiha, Bahco, Facom drivers as well. In no particular order.

I find each has a place as well. I gravitate towards the wera kraforms with laser cut heads for older abused wood screws.

For the car somehow I always end up holding a PB or Wiha.

I have Wiha, Felo, Witte, Facom, SK France, and lots of NOS PB Swiss, but I have to admit that when it comes to Phillips screws, I find myself grabbing my NOS Vessel more often. They fit JIS just perfectly and any other Phillips as well. I think PB Swiss claims that their drivers fit JIS, but I feel more confident with the Vessel. Maybe just psychological, who knows...

Between Wiha and PB Swiss, I guess they are both great drivers, but PB Swiss has the advantage that your hard-earned money goes exclusively into tools instead of hand bags and shoes for wifey...just very expensive. I would say Wiha is VW and PB Swiss is BMW (and I don´t think a BMW is necessarily better than a VW) :bounce:

Completely agree!

I think between your post and mine it shows that personal preference also makes as much of a difference as anything else!

PB Swiss is one of the best when it comes to screwdrivers. Have a 8 piece set I use and the same set new in box as a spare.

Screwdriver bits with higher hardness and torque values are necessary and beneficial for manufacturers to promote the sales of their products. Materials, heat treatment and the machining process are the three key factors affecting the properties of a screwdriver bit.

So it's impossible to say that PBswis is better than Wiha,Witte,Facom,wera,vessel......or contrary because we don.t now what materials use every manufacturer or what heat treatmeant use Pbswis in comparision with wiha or other manufacturer of screwsriver

Screwdrivers are the most popular hand tools in our daily lives. Although the properties of current screw-driver bits have satisfied the requirement for general use by hand, the demand for screwdriver bits with higher hardness and higher torque values still have been proposed by screwdriver manufacturers to meet the requirement of the competitive business markets. Higher torque values can be obtained by achieving higher hardness and higher toughness simultaneously; however, higher hardness is usually accompanied by lower toughness. To manufacture a screwdriver bit with both higher hardness and torque, three key factors are crucial and should be taken into consideration: materials, heat treatment and the machining process. In the hand tool market, the most popular steel used for screwdriver bits is Cr-V steel, such as SAE6150 steel. The hardness of a screwdriver bit made by Cr-V steel is about HRC52±2, and the torque value is around 180~190 kgf·cm. With the evolution of steel development, S2 and SAE9254 (Si-Cr) steels are also applied to screwdriver bits by some manufacturers. Com-paring the screwdriver bits made by S2 steel with those made by SAE9254 steel, the former are harder owing to their higher carbon content but have lower torque values due to their lower toughness. Although the hardness of an S2 screwdriver bit can reach HRC60, this higher hardness will lead to it breaking in a brittle fracture. Such a type of fracture may cause eye damage from the broken brittle chips; therefore, the hardness of an S2 steel used for screwdriver bits should not be greater than HRC58.

I had an older lamp model from Ring and I lost it. It was already very hard to use after one year and a half of abuse.
I bought the new model:

Facom 603F, aluminium and I think stainless attachments and inserts for preventing rust.

30491e42c2a1f1e01b5264bf2aeb2297.jpg

In theory is a a bit heavier than the 601 however I cannot feel the difference. It feels very strong and sturdy.
4091439143cc227edc8c55b7e50c9a2e.jpg

The blade attached by spring loaded mechanism on the front that makes it study and not rotating while changing blades. The 601 has no rotating attachments so a bit more straightforward when blade changing.
2ba267a353b7d2a1ad5910dbfdd7e34c.jpg

Very tight tolerances of the rear blade attachment with positive and easy locking at 45 degree intervals.

8a27772f31101020bff06caeee6905be.jpg32416ff248e251e484143c83756cf954.jpg

All in all very pleased. I would prefer the handles to have a bit rubber texture as the 601. The aluminium 603F feels very cold when getting it on your hand[emoji4].

NO COO!!![emoji15]

I am not generally buy facom for that reason with some exemptions, of course[emoji16]

Hedi Cable reel - 100% Made in Germany.
cc18336ff56369899e3077d791cf174c.jpg

I went o Bauhaus and checked the Brennenstuhl and some other brands they had there. Hedi is by far better in terms of how it feels and the details.

It feels very strong (you can sit on it), smooth rotation, sturdy thick plastic sides of the reel, etc.

Also, full copper/ brass wire and attachments in the socket and even on the cap hinges.

It really feels very good and details like the minimalistic rotating switch it does help.

I have an oldish Beargrip adjustable spanner.

Says Beargrip holland on one side and made in Taiwan on the other [emoji12]

Quality is top notch either way but still a bit disappointed it's not made in Holland.

That said made in Holland tools are not exactly common
