I would say, the Black Ones are in the End are more solid. Maybe except
the Latch. Plastic of the Smart Cases is imho thinner, but also very
solid - I try to avoid to drop them. ;) For normal everyday Use both
should be good. Maby it's an Option to buy both and look for yourself.
New empty Smart Case (1/9 for the 1/4'' Ratchets) costs about 18 EUR
on eBay.de (+P&P) a little more for the bigger ones.

Thank you very much for your time.

I understand latch means the front clips closing the two lids together. Hinges are the back permanent linkage.

Just in case;)

The only Beta tool I have is a 3/4" sliding T bar, nothing wrong with that.
Supposedly their T handled drivers are very good but I haven't tried any.
Quite a few items are the same as some from Facom / USAG.
They have too much cheap Asian stuff in the range that they ask too much money for.

I will file an official complain via their channels. I am sure I will find the way and if not we may ask Monte to represent us as a whole[emoji106]

I meant for europe made tools... actually can't think of any that I dislike more, even Unior or MoB-IUS makes far better tools

I agree, Beta did good tools long time ago when their factory was in Italy maybe near USAG like quality but now the vast majority of Beta tools come from China and their quality is deplorable.

Here are a couple that I picked up in a flat of tools at auction.

German SW Pliers- I can find any reference to this manufacturer. Guessing pretty old, but I have no idea about that either.

Italian Winthrop 10" channel locks - Can't find any reference on this manufacturer either.

This isn't true at all.

Their hard goods (wrenches, sockets, ratchets, T-handle drivers, screwdrivers, pullers, hammers, body tools, etc.) are mostly made in Italy. They share some parts with Ko-ken (pear-head ratchets, impact sockets) that are made in Japan, and some of their ratchet extensions are made in the USA.

The Beta Easy line is a mix of Taiwan and China made tools, but are priced as you would expect.

I can say they are way better than craftsman in that the sockets mic up much more precisely. In fact, a friend had a craftsman socket that could not remove a nut without rounding and the Beta took it off without issue. Also their torque wrenches are made by Norbar, which are the best in my experience (and freqcuently seen in F1 pits).do I prefer Stahlwille, Hazet, and Gedore? Yes. That said, you'll see Beta in more pits than you'll see any of those. Sponsorship gets you the boxes, sometimes the tools, but generally they fill the boxes with whatever tools they actually prefer. I have never seen a Craftsman tool in anybody's pit.

Just by look and feel of my beta ratchet I can tell it's way better than craftsman. I can tell it was made with pride and better materials. I like hazet best myself I just wanted to know more about them and my ratchet with the strange mechanics. Look at my pic on last page for reference. Thanks for the comment and taking up for the brand craftsman is far from a good European brand there's just no comparison it's apples to oranges.

My ratchet I asked for more info about is an old one marked made in italy but not sure of age. I'd like to know more about it as in the ratcheting design ive never seen it before. I explained how it works on other page.

Theres still some good stuff.. the problem is really there's a lot of hit and miss. Especially in the cheaper line.

I hate paying a premium for made in China sh:;(&. That's not unique to beta though.

There's quite a few brands that do better overall quality Taiwan for less money...

I'll stick to the German brands and PB Swiss when I care about coo and impulse buys. After that price comes into bigger play and I spend more time looking at value for money and need.

I'll still buy Beta just more carefully and researched.

i see every day beta tools here in italy and i use it every day at work(wrench, chisel, screwdriver and special tools for auto and the quality are very poor.I'can not take pictures in the ford garage because are video surveillance and we can't use phone cell ).I ask more than 10 retailer of beta and all confirm me that new Beta come mostly from China(screwdriver, hammer, socket, wrench, torx, inbus, trolley, pliers, files, cutters, saw, chisel, prybar and special tools for automotive). In fact you will not see anymore on Beta tools "Made in Italy" or even "Italy".For me personaly Beta is no more premium brand.

And now i heard that Usag no longer belongs to Stanley black & decker group.
If someone can confirm?

It's just a type of push-through ratchet. In fact, 920/50 still is the model number for the push through ratchet they make.

Couple years ago I got a couple cases of BIC razors (the ones with the changeable heads) FOC, it sucked when they ran out and I had to start buying razors again.

After I discovered these above (use them as long as they feel sharp and throw away) I have never bought anything else. Personal prefernce really.

Hello Chrissalas1,

Actually the production of razors started somewhere in 1900 and they were producing the old fashioned blades.

Somewhere after the WW2 they started the new disposable blades but they come to realize a modern style after investment from a French fund , see shares.

They also produce the BIC pens which I think are the best cheap ones and much better than others and I have used dozen different ones.

I've got a set of the 14s, but may be keen to add a set of 13s if they're much thinner and slimmer (14s have poor clearance at the open end in some cases).

I use an old fashioned safety razor. Hundred blades made in U.K. Or Germany for ten bucks.

I was looking for some additional blades for cutter and it was cheaper to buy the following set instead.
10248a214c6cdb0081e9872217c99acf.jpg

Blades made in England but no coo on the cutter. It feels solid though and once you tight the blade down has no play at all, recommended[emoji106]

Good deal I guess because I'd like to get a rebuild kit do they have a life time warranty? It works like **** but might just be design I would upgrade not if they will give me China **** I guess I got one of the last true Italian Beta's. i tried wd40 oil on it and lithium grease and both are no good, Lithium made paw stick to gear and lock it up. I'd trade it to someone but Doubt anyone wants it.Theres nothing wrong with it really it was just dry and dirty in inside and its old. I don't like the push through design or mechanics of it.

A couple of British Stanley Snapoffs from a local hardware shop.
I've seen they still sell these with a different packaging but unsure on the COO or quality.
Crammed floor to ceiling with mostly junk brands and no name stuff but noticed serveral made in England Stanley bits and there's probably some more old European things hidden away.

Found some fairly odd tube wrenches in a box in my basement. The one with the ball for the handle is from Hazet, the second one from VBW. No idea whats the original use for both.

I don't know about the Stahlwille 13, but I have the 14 series as well as the Hazet 600N.
I can tell you, in tight spots, like a manifold, the Hazet open end always seems to fit, while the 14 often doesn't.

I guess that didn't actually answer your question at all, did it.

I think that the first one might be a combination spark plug and wheel bolt wrench for VW, maybe an early one. Second one is a Hazet style VW spark plug wrench.
