Anyone use the Knipex crimping pliers (for RJ45)? People tend to recommend the Klein over here, but there are very few Knipex pliers I've used that I don't like.

I have these (second picture) for a few years and they work really well. In fact both pliers above are made in Taiwan and just rebranded by Knipex.

You can get them a lot cheaper on Aliexpress.

Take a closer look at the klein ones, they are identical to these. Only difference is the handle color. As already stated, both are made in Taiwan.

One thing to look at for doing RJ45 is a company called Platinum Tools who makes the EZ RJ45 line of connectors and tools. The wires feed through the end of the connector and the tool cuts them flush. There is some controversy in the IT world about data rates and stuff due to the small stub of wire poking past the terminals, but the manufacturer has the usual certifications so I don't see why they wouldn't be ok. They sure do make terminations easier to do. The special terminations are made in the USA. They have 3 lines of crimpers. The first two made in Taiwan, the premium is a Press Master out of Sweden. I picked up their middle one called the EZ-RJPRO made in Taiwan and have been happy so far.

Picked up these 2 from the flea market
About 10$ for the 180 mm knipex and 2$ for a wera Phillips screwdriver.
I'm new to this. Did I overpay? They seem very used :headscrat

Can't see the tip of the driver but the damage looks cosmetic to me.

Handles will clean up with a rag and some wd-40... maybe some dishwashing detergent and a sponge.

If the driver tip is good I would have paid two bucks for it.

As long as the knippex mechanism is good without undue wear or broken teeth I'd pay 10 bucks for that too.

Thanks!

I saw the Kleins and thought they looked VERY similar, but then again most pliers look very similar to each other, the Knipex has a few cutting guards more than the Klein iirc. Good to know that these are rebadges of the same thing.

Those EZRJ look interesting; I for one know how easy it is to cut the sheathing short and have to re-cut, and/or have a wire pull out and have to recut. The passthrough looks like a winner. I wonder if I can cheap out and just use normal crimps and some mini cutters. I have some Hakko flush cutters, which are also relevant to this thread, they're rebadged and imported from Italy (for $4!).

I own to knipex 86 03 180(fantastic and indestructible plier) and i pay for 32€ on amazon.de, so 10 $ is a good price, for wera the price is about 8-10€ so if the tip is in good condition 2$ is also a good deal

Which part number are you looking for ?

I'm looking for a good Automatic Center Punch, is this Gedore any good?
You could consider these Rennsteig products too:

The Russians love German tools. When searching for Metabo and Bosch reviews, half my hits are in Russian.

My Weidmüller RJ45 pliers; they all look very much alike! Even the dirt cheap ones seem identical. Some of them aren't even that bad at all.

Oh, does anyone know what "Red Line by Weidmuller" really means? I've always found this weird.

How is it compared to the small one?
I have a small one from Thrunite and I don't like it. Light is not much brighter than my phone's LED light and it ***** to have to turn it on/off by twisting :/

"Weidmüller RedLine - Tools for installation and maintenance" .... Never saw them...maybe older ? Looks like they´re lower priced compared to their orange tools !?

My all time favorite toolbox from "over there" is the HAZET ASSISTANT. I sold the blue one for $750 and kept the red one for myself. I got them both for $65. I did a restoration on the red Assistant and I am keeping it. See the before and after pictures

Found a hazet 13x8 mm open wrench today at a second hand store. Course it was covered in light rust.
not bad for .81 cents. It will clean up nice and be added to my other oddballs. I certainly get a lot of satisfaction finding tools like this.

Today I got a parcel from a friendly representative HAZET.

It helps if you speak good German[emoji16]

Now please unwrap and demonstrate because it seems to be many goodies in there.

And if you have something double or you do not need we are here to help[emoji12]
