I have the facom j.174 and it has the same problem with yours.
Does the QR mechanism opens?
If yes we can put a bigger bearing ball and drill a bit more of required?

Oh ok then, CDX does not have this problem.
Can you use CDX ratchet directly to normal sockets or only with adapters?
Thanks

I think is a 'one-piece' mechanism. If not, it is very difficult to drill it to put a slightly bigger ball because it is very hard metal.Does the QR mechanism opens?

As long as I can dismantle the mechanism I am sure with some patient it will be done[emoji111].I think is a 'one-piece' mechanism. If not, it is very difficult to drill it to put a slightly bigger ball because it is very hard metal.
All facom ratchets i have are Italy made.As long as I can dismantle the mechanism I am sure with some patient it will be done[emoji111].
How do facom ratchets compare between France and Italy made?

A mechanic friend of mine has a facom ratchet made in France and after years of using and abusing it is very very smooth. The smoothest of all ratchets i have seen.
Have a nice day!!!!!!
Great stuff, I am looking for one made in "France"...
From all info I have gathered and personal experience it seems that all ratchets vary a bit depending on the batch.I've got both a French one from the 1980's and a current Italian one. IMHO the current one is smoother, if that matters ....
I've also got an SJ171 where the QR is fine....maybe I was lucky!
A conventional 3/8 drive ratchet will fit the CDX sockets, but a CDX ratchet won't fit a square drive without an adapter.

How is this possible???
I have a CDX set and can confirm that a 3/8 square drive will NOT fit a CDX socket. I believe there is a Facom adapter though for 1/2" drive > CDX sockets...

You have to be lucky to get the smoothest[emoji6]

As do mine, I'm not sure I would want to use the sockets that way but they go on and the ball detent even works.

I bought 400 and sent 399 back....![]()

Yes, the QR works, and the fit is not great. But I haven't got a long CDX ratchet!![]()
They do as others have said....you can still use your 3/8" drive torque wrench with the CDX sockets. Facom has discontinued the CDX series and all of the accessories although many dealers still have stock.

what would be the point of having cdx anything?

Maybe so your coworkers won't steal your Facom because they are not compatible with anything??? LOL

They are supposed to be as strong g as 1/2" but in a more compact size. I have two sets, just because!![]()

yes1. The QR does not work! and Monte can confirm this. I am thinking to fit a larger bearing ball if it is possible to dismantle the mechanism.
They´re still around:Hi Monte
Do you know what happened to 'Walter Tools'? I got a socket set from my parents for my 21st in the 1970's ( I asked for a Hazet one but got this!)

Non sloppy 1/4 extension-bits
Could you advise which brand has almost no play when attach extension and bits on the ratchet and when connected together?
How is Stahlwille 412 25 D 6,3 Bit holder
I have the Facom R.235 and is the worst ever with the bit rattling like hell
Many thanks!!!
I dont have that Stahlwille, but I have the Facom, Gedore & VIM bit holders
The Gedore is by far the best out of my bunch, very secure, no play at all. The Facom & VIM are pretty similar, the bits do have some play in the holders but not too bad IMO, both are very usable. I'll add that my Facom example (France) is the most compact out of all 3...
I would like to try the Stahlwille, the spring retention is interesting, but it is expensive over here. $27USD! (Chadstoolbox)
Guys I am not sure about Vessel screwdrivers and bits. It seems like they have some good and some not so good it's.
Below is a 1/4 adapter compared to Koken. The Vessel has no ball indent but rather a nail like to hold the socket.
Also not sure why these have a concave part at the end of them since they do not fit to any bit holders I have.
