I have about 6 Fisco tapes. Do their job as well as any other tape measure I've ever owned. Just nice to not send the money to china.

Anyway, only time I've busted one was pulling it all the way out, it got stuck, wouldn't retract, heard the internal spring slip and eventually tried to open it to repair it. That made a even bigger mess, so it went into the trash. So now I don't pull them out to the very very end.

Thrift stores rarely have tools here (at least the ones near me).

Today I got lucky... it's missing some paint but will be a good user.

So happy to see Bosch cordless grinders being brushless [emoji16] [emoji16] [emoji16]
...and Made in Germany ! :)
Hi everyone, is there a German manufacturer that makes a cordless threaded rod cutter similar to the Kamekura in the link below?

http://www.kamekura.co.jp/dw-408b.pdf
yes:
http://www.albert-roller.de
http://www.rems.de
www.klauke.com

I know someone who will be visiting family in Germany this summer, they'll be staying near Ebermannstadt, which is near Forchheim. Are there any places to buy tools nearby? I'm mostly looking for Knipex.
Car/Truck parts wholesalers like Stahlgruber or Europart have Knipex. I think they have stores around Nuremberg/Fürth.

Infinite energy?
:D yep :D
Why buy cordless tools ?? :D

My latest thinking is that I may order the tools from TBS-Aachen and have them delivered to the place where she will be staying (free delivery in Germany). TBS tells me that all she needs to do at customs is to show the invoice and the items - apparently they stamp the invoice. Does this sound right?

They have those Parkside blades in Lidl here as well, every time they have jigsaws, the blades sell out fast though, as they are actually pretty good, certainly better than the Jigsaw.

We don't have an Aldi locally yet, they have applied for planning for a store in my town but the council was sitting on it, so they have gone to the top for a decision. We shall see if we get an Aldi or not.

The Fein Grinder was £110, brand new, just 3 year old stock, its just so nice compared to my ordinary Hitachi 9", soft start, rotatable rear handle, nice long cord, nice guard.

Monte i hope that in the new thread you will post pics with repairs that you will do on cars so we learn something from your experience like in "Wheeler dealers":beer:

Then it´s time ! :) Aldi always has good stuff on sale :) But skip the tools and everything else :D (except jigsaw/recip saw blades) ;)

That´s a fantastic price for a fantastic tool ! :pimpflash

A few taps from the old world. I am not sure if the bottom one is from Vockel or the initial implies something else.

I own only 17mm and 19mm for now but plan to buy all from 13 to 22 including 30mm and 32mm and next a Dewalt dcf899.
By the way anyone of you guys own Dewalt DCF899 and if yes is so good like impact wrench?

Thanks for the tip on the jig saw blades. I always walked passed the tools section at Norma, Aldi and the others figuring they were junk. I swung by the Aldi and a Lidl on my way home and picked up Workzone Made in Germany and Parkside Swiss made blades. Got the last set of each one so the timing was perfect. I did by some cheap S curve and half moon obstruction wrenches from Kraftwerk at Norma since they were so cheap. I may never use them but they will be nice to have if I ever do, even if they are one time use.

This is my first post to the Garage Journal. I've really gleaned a ton of useful info from the forums since I found the website a few weeks ago. It's addicting.

I am starting to compliment my tools (primarily Craftsman USA) with some German pliers, metric wrenches and sockets since I'm here. I'm definitely far from a pro mechanic but enjoy wrenching on cars.

Thanks Monte. Them annular cutters are not cheap though.

I meant to ask you, between Volkel and Ruko taps, which do you think is perhaps better?
yes that´s right but they make a much better hole than hole saws...
I have no experience with both brands, but both are common so you probably can´t get wrong with eiter one. Volkel seems to be the thread tools specialist whereas Ruko offers also many more tools.

Fein *** 51-1 produced in 1955.

Here's the Spring 2017 USAG Promo........so many of these products are identical to Facom with USAG branding. Prices are the cheapest in Italy....won't be that bad by the time they get to the US (definitely cheaper than Beta).

See http://www.usag.it/catalog/en/promo/categories/24 . Still trying to finalize my opening order with USAG based on this list. They've asked me not to publish COO on my website...it'll be available upon request. SD

Do you know who or where this set is manufactured in?

It is branded after Wurth and it has the multispline kind of sockets and a few screwdriver bits.

Thanks

I have switched all my outdoor hoses from the metal quick release couplers to the plastic version!! I live in CA and the hard water caused havoc on the metal ones after 6 months. Tired of replacing them I finally broke down and tried the plastic, oh my SO much better. And lighter. That's the one time I wish I had simply gone cheap at the beginning.....

Yes after 13 years sad news that Edd China left the program (Wheeler Dealers). The rather stupid american producers Velocity, were intent on reducing the 'technical' content i.e. the workshop build processes ( which were the core of the show) 'too difficult' to make and too expensive - never mind that the obviously far more competent English production had managed all those years.

More product placement and advertising will be the result, and little doubt that it will become just another zero content/advertising full banal production like dream car garage.

There is a vid from Edd on utub: 'Edd China on leaving Wheeler Dealers'
