from my experience just ok for home use, the mechanics at work hate them, they prefer Knipex or the all steel Hazet. I personally like the Knipex and the Garant ones more
Thanks!

Metabo jigsaw earning its keep, the tube I was cutting a radius out of was 5mm wall..

Sadly it carries only the name from the old world.. it's Asian made
The ones I have seen in UK were made in Germany, if I recall correctly.

In your case, China is closer so they may also produce there?

Yea Metabo farms out quite a few of their saws it seems to China.

The 18v reciprocating saw, the circular saw, and jigsaw are all Chinese, and not very good either.

The corded metabo Jigsaw is made in Germany. However I've had problems with that as the orbital selector likes to move around during use, rather than staying in the slot I've selected it for. Which is quite problematic if I've turned off the orbital to do a nice clean cut, and it swaps itself into max (which has been my problem). I've emailed Metabo on this several times, and never received a single reply. So made in germany doesn't mean any better, least with Metabo.

wow crazy stuff. I thought there is more high tech involved like huge hydraulic cylinders or something like that :) ...made in china huh ? :)

Hi Monte,

These are only the legs of the platform as part of the system.

The plates arrived from Germany to China where they are flame cut and prepared. These shops are specialized in this kind of fabrication and they have latest machines mostly from Europe, Germany and Swiss.

Afterwards they are sent to the shipyard where they are welded on top of each other, Longitudinaly, in order to form the full length/ height, in this project about 200 meters[emoji16] .

The gear boxes and electric motors are installed and the big slow turning pinions are engaged on these teeth. Through some automation and software the gears move the whole platform up and down as required in order to start the drilling!

Do they offer shop tours ? :) Would be interesting to see this. I wonder if the teeth are heat treated ? But good to know that at least the machines and some of the material is from over here  (and obviously some people). I guess the angle grinder was used for deburring ? And i guess it takes a while until the platform earns its costs back at this dimensions of the platform...

No hybrid drills, jig saws and Crircular saws[emoji13]
Who knows.... maybe the sanders are just the beginning..... ? :)

Hi guys, does anyone have any experience shipping items from Germany? I'm trying to purchase a rollmaster and am struggling to find a company that will ship it to New Zealand for less than €900. Any ideas?

I am not sure, it was a few years ago and I only saw one handle in the showcase, but I remember it was written Knipex on it.

I heartily recommend the Festool PDC 18/4.

There is no play at all at the removable chuck and I mean at all.

It is also quite slim and not that heavy being 18V with 4ah battery[emoji106]

Hi Monte,

Maybe you could provide some info about the Fwin ASCM which seems very similar to the Festool PDC 18/4😊?

Is the fein of similar width of 60 mm to 65 mm?

And how is the woble of the quick chuck?

I also forgot to say tjat the Festool has a percussion mode and the max torque is 60Nm compared to 90Nm of the Fein.

I guess their screwdrivers are from there too ?

Could be, they make insulated screwdrivers as well. You could figure that out by comparing the tips of Knipex screwdrivers with the tips of Kraftgrip insulated ones.

wp20140326172120pro.jpg

You can see that Gedore and Kraftgrip are from the same factory if you compare the tips.

Is oplast somehow related to UNIOR?

If not how would you compare these two in terms of quality and fitment of the driver tip?

Thanks!

Oplast makes Unior screwdrivers and handles for Unior pliers. I don't buy Unior screwdrivers anymore, because they seem to wear off or break faster than Kraftgrip or Gedore ones. I guess Unior is trying to save some money by using lower grade of steel.

The first few pages from Kraftgrip catalog.

Hmmm, these look familiar!? Is it possible that I have seen them somewhere already?

They look very similar to "Made in Germany INBUS® - Das Original seit 1934" allen keys, almost too similar to be just similar. Maybe all German hand tools are secretly made here in Slovenia, except for Wera which is made in Czech Republic. :bounce:

The max width is about 71mm. There is a slight play in the chuck. No percussion version available. But with a good sharp (Bosch Multiconstruction, Alpen Profi Multicut) etc.) drill bit you can easily drill into stone without a percussion mode. And for concrete rotary hammer anyway. The maximum torque is measured basically with the drill at full speed driving a screw into a block of steel. I dunno if this says much...

Link for that pruner ?

I have the Fiskars(coo was Finland/US, but who knows now) version which rocks. Just in case i need a new one..

https://www.bluestonegarden.com/wolf-garten-power-dual-cut-lopper-rr200-10518.html

My father has 2 Fiskars (extendable/non-extendable/coo Finland). I bought the Wolf after using the Fiskars because of certain reasons:

29813111pz.jpg

1. Locking mechanism: Fiskars uses a clamp. Wolf uses holes and a button.
When the Fiskars blade got stuck in a branch i pulled on the saw and after a couple of times of pulling the silver rod of the saw came out of the saw. So the whole tool was hanging in the tree disconnected...Won´t happen with Wolf...
29813113xf.jpg

2. Pull rope: Fiskars: no steel cable. Wolf: steel cable.

29813117pi.jpg

3. Head mount: Fiskars: pressed in . Wolf: screwed in.
Another time i used the Fiskars and the blade got stuck in a branch... I pulled on the saw several times but instead to free the saw the head got stuck in the branch and i only held the handle in my hands....Won´t happen with Wolf...

29813119he.jpg

4: Head adjustment: Fiskars: Lever. Wolf: Wheel.
When i used the Fiskars saw in a densely overgrown tree accidentally the head adjustment lever got hit so the head wobbled around... Won´t happen with Wolf...

29813125pr.jpg

5: The head size is bigger on the Wolf, but it´s color is at least visible in the tree...

29813126bo.jpg

6: Tube profile: No problems encountered here. Wolf has some extra notches for strength.

29813127im.jpg

7: Handles: The handles on the Wolf are a bit bigger which i prefer...

29813131mg.jpg

Two new pairs of pliers from NWS. Got the bigger ones dirty already yesterday. I love how sharp they are.
seems they changed the design again. "3D" forging around the sides of the cutting head. Looks nice. And nice pictures too ! :pimpflash

Or...maybe same blade supplier or made on same machines... ? :)

or vice versa :D
