There are several hose clamp pliers in my box.
Hazet 798-8 & 798-4& a Taiwan made hose clamp plier with flexible cable for working hidden areas .

Very nice stuff. I amay sure you are very happy with the Hazet.

How is the Taiwanese one? Does is grips well and holds the clamp closed as it should be?

I am also looking for a cable one and for once a year I use it I prefer not to spent the money on SnapOn.

May be not the best example. A former developer from Z+G told me, chain saw oil is the last step in the downgrading chain. That's not only true for Z+G but almost any oil maker. You could also use any oil of sufficient viscosity for that purpose.

It is marked "stronger then any bolt" Can anyone tell me when Stahlwille stopped using "stronger then any bolt" ?. It feels amazing in the hand and is my first Stahlwille tool,but wont be the last!

Probably they are not stronger than any bolt anymore?

I think the newer one have a thinner profile than the older one. Add to this the grade 12.9 bolts and the legal aspects and and...

I am sure some of our experts in here will give a better answer.

some PB Swiss stuff like bits and chissels, as usual superb finish. A grade 1 tape from BMI, its nice but I´m not 100% satisfied yet
A set of Stahlwille No. 14 (also in comparisation to Stahlwille made Garant, SnapOn and Nepros) Some Ko-Ken goodness for the impact and a Festool Drill (former Protool model) made in Germany, got it as a former display model for a good price. With brushless motor and 4-Speed gearbox quite universal, additional it came with like 7,5m cable.

I can find Rost Off and trim paint and few other things on Autogeek and Amazon but nothing like Paint Prep Sray, Anti Sieze, or any of their sealant compounds. Their RTV type sealants are pretty damn good but I only got to use it for a few specific jobs.

Looking for made in OLD WORLD (best quality) with flexibility, low weight and vibration control and safety, occasionally may be pushed a bit hard otherwise DIY.

1. Is it better to have more power output above 600W or lower weight?
2. Is the speed very important, i.e. above 8-9k rpm?
3. Is paddle (dead man) switch required?
4. Does anyone knows the difference in FEIN Blocking monitoring vs kickback stop?

Lower weight gives more fine control when grinding. Used to be a very noticeable difference beaten Hitachi ( built like tank) and Makita (noticeably lighter). Lighter weight makes life easier when doing a lot of grinding. Weight certainly becomes an issue with larger diameter disc grinders; I recall being up a ladder cutting overhead old lead water pipes with a 9"+ disc grinder, the ladder was also straddling the large hole in the floor above the cellar, where the floor boards had been removed. Wouldn't get away with such things these days; and a good thing too. I left that particular job when one particular idiot decided to cut asbestos sheet with an angle grinder, in the same room as where the refrigeration fans were. There was a 2" pile 3 foot in diameter of dust like talcum powder. I walked out and didn't go back.


Speed is related to disc diameter, and the surface speed of the disc at the cutting/grinding edge, and the size/mass of disc that it will support before inevitable imbalances blow things apart. I did routinely use a $60,000 titanium air die grinder that spun at 100,000 rpm, but it could only use burrs c. a few mm in diameter; that had a spring loaded dead man type switch.


Never used a real (mandatory hold down) dead man on a 4" or more disc grinder; that would be a real pain. The switch off action is a worthwhile consideration. The old Makitas used to have a toggle switch on the end of the body, awkward and unsafe. Ready access to thumb I think is important. All designs are not created equal. Think of it from its safety feature aspects.

Yes not bad pricing on shipping and they can get most things. As far as grinders go I have a few 125mm, use the more powerful 1100W and 1400W for grinding flap discs and wire cup brush. Low powered machines for cut off discs smaller lighter and easier to handle. Not a fan of the paddle switches although if Im going to be doing a lot of heavy grinding I have a 125mm Makita with the rat tail type handle.

Hi guys,

I bought myself some new tools (pics will follow) from Milwaukee.
It is the saber saw M18 FUEL Sawzall and the 1/2" impact wrench M18 FUEL.

If I remember correctly in this thread, I think Monte stated that the Fein 1/2" impact wrenches are the same as Milwaukee, although with a different body design. Please correct me if I am wrong.
If it is like that can I use the Fein batteries for my Milwaukee tools?

I would say those are not Italy made Beta tools. I have both Italy and Taiwan made Beta tools. I would recommend the Toptul kit if those are your two choices. I'm sure Hazet and Gedore have similar kits.

That can happen with any wrench, usually when you use it at an angle to the bolt /nut, Most of mine that are common used sizes are like that.

Don't worry. If there are any problems with material quality in Toptul wrenches, my co-workers would have found them by now, working 10 hours per day on heavy trucks, agricultural and earthmoving equipment. The decision to use BFH or cheaters on them takes about 0.1 second if needed. After all the shop supplies them so why worry? They are simply top class and hold up remarkably well.

BTW several of my Stahlwille, Hazet, Facom, Gedore... wrenches have similar marks.

Diamond and Horseshoe, made in USA. I like how the checkered surface grips on anything very secure! Note the small gap on the front part; that is so the cutting action is not disturbed like in other pliers. Also the cutter is amazingly sharp and very tough. I have tried it on hardened screws and it is still fine, not recommended though.

Few days after I contacted VOLKEL about a replacement sent to my place together with a gift! I was not expected anything rather than a tap however that is nice gesture and I recommend them since the tools are really good and the warranty honoured.

Now I hope that taps are made in Geany unlike the wallet which has Germany on it but...

Some new tools of mine.

First the used Bosch metal shear 1506.1 (same design and specs as the newer model GSC 2,8).


Even the extra blades are from good ol' Germany.




Gesipa NTX set and E-Top socket for holesaws/drill bits.




The Gesipa is the standard riveting plier here in Germany I guess.
Some companies copy them down to the colour of the plier.



Metabo angle grinder WE 26-230 MVT QUICK (without the autobalancer)



This is 2.600 watts of pure power! But boy you do have to manage the grinder.
(Although I should have bought the 2.400 version and invested in the version with the autobalancer.)

An old AEG jigsaw with no coo, not common at that time, maybe the first ones not made in Germany; who knows.

It felt underpowered while trying to cut a few chipboard shelves. Cannot come in though for something given to me for free.

Interesting enough, would that hole at the end is for attaching a vacuum?

That is after working under the car's hood for a couple of days. The light still works but it lasts hardly for 3 h at full power which is not enough

For the 120 euros I think they could do better!
