Used some trim clip pliers today. Bought from Ebay and delivered straight from China for about £6.50. I know Chinese tools are hated around here but these pliers work amazing well. Easily fit in to lift the top part of the clip and then again to lift the complete clip out all the time holding onto the clip so it doesn't jump out onto the floor. Doesn't damage the clip the same as a screwdriver or pry tool. They are roughly finished but very functional. Also came with some free rust in the pivot. Anyone seen this design sold by a more quality brand?

Swanstrom jewelry wire looping pliers. Remove the arbor from the pliers and they work pretty good. Blunt, but precision edge doesn't cut through plastic push pins. Works on most large push pins. Made in USA.

Pb Swiss automotive clip remover. comes in small and large size. I don't own but did see it in Taiwan; very nicely finished tool. Made in Switzerland.

The closest one that I can think of is made by KTC (part# CCP-190:

I have the PB Swiss ones for a decade now and would buy them again if I broke of lost them. Like Hautpot said, very well finished....especially when compared with Snap-on!

The kind like the PB swiss ones are useful in a few other ways, including pushing things into position, such as the wire surround on upholstery work:

Upholstery, using PB Swiss Trim Clip Remover...jpgUpholstery, using PB Swiss Trim Clip Remover..jpg

Not the the most up to date photo, but I have a couple more Anex trim clip removers:

ANEX, PB Swiss.jpgSmall Picks, Wedges, Panel Poppers, Prying Tools.jpg

I talk about the Anex ones here if you're intersted:

Thank you both. Clever use of the Swanstrom pliers. I was put off the pry tools as the Wiha one I own is too fat and blunt to be of any use on pins. I wondered how people used them. Looking at the Anex on the video they look to come to a fine point which would be much more useful. It's hard to resist buying more PB Swiss. :eyecrazy:

I got a Hazet 8816S ratchet the other day. (amazon.ca had them for $66 CAD, like $50 USD or less)

The selector looks like glass reinforced nylon or similar? I guess that might be as strong as the pot metal a lot of ratchets use, but I don't feel great about it...

Can someone tell me about carl walter?

These aren't chromed but just phosphated, but the price is incredible. Might be good for someone that needs large sizes rarely, or for a set you keep in your trunk, or something like this where it can afford some harsh treatment / abuse/ theft.

eg. https://www.conrad.de/de/ring-mauls...-werkzeuge-280-23-mm-ph-370281009-826745.html

Is this really German made? How is the quality?

I looked for a while and didn't find anything else. I bought the cheapos because it was all I could find with a cursory search. After using them for a while, I wanted to see if there was a "real" pair. Couldn't find anything. But the $10 has been holding up well. Metal's stronger than plastic...

mine came with free rust, too. squirt of aerokroil... :lol_hitti

A while back I asked this vendor

https://www.rapidonline.com/walter-...combination-spanner-set-5-5-34mm-23pc-63-8573

They said China but I noticed one of the buyers said they are German made so... ?

Zoom in on the chrome version box and it says 'made in Germany'

Hello!
My small 'set' of pliers from car toolbox:
eb7f6ob3.jpg

Most interesting 'Duratool' (OEM Orbis???)

And wrenches made by Kuznia Sulkowicehttp://www.kuznia-sulkowice.pl/ (old version, the new version looks like very similar to Kingtony/Jonnesway I'm not sure if they are still produced in Poland)

Let me continue :)
some pliers from Kuznia up to 500V, quite good

jlzngiqu.jpg

cheap screwdrivers from small factory WWSpecjal http://www.wwspecjal.pl/ handles are hard and uncomfortable but steel quality not bad

And my latest arrival: Garant pliers set

Water pump pliers are from VBW/Stahlwille but the rest? Not similar to VBW or Knipex ... Their description (HRC etc) from garant website is similar to the knipex ones but maybe it is by accident...

You may be correct. We use some Duratool at work and wondered what they were rebrands of. Mixed bag of quality with Duratool but their German pliers have proved very durable.

Can anyone give me a quick rundown on Tooxem?? I bought a mess of hammers that Amazon was blowing out for 3 and 4 bucks each, and upon arrival, they appear to be, well, 4 dollar hammers. Are these things Chinesium from an outfit only based in Belgium, or are they in fact from Europe? Thx.

Got my set of Hazet 600N's from Jens Putzier... seven days from ordering to receiving. I screwed up with the shipping and only had fractionally over 2kg and could have had up to 4kg for the same $. Poor planning...

A selection of sizes comparing the new Hazets with my outgoing JBS wrenches and also classic Sidchrome wrenches for comparison.
The Sidchromes are very short, finish is generally very nice but the ring ends are sometimes a bit ropey. I have a fondness for these as they are Australian made and no longer in business (present Sidchrome is only a name).
JBS is a brand of imported tools sold by the industrial chain Blackwoods (John Blackwood & Sons, hence JBS). I bought these in the early 90's and have had good service in fairly intense DIY'ing from them for over 25 years - so no complaints. I think when I bought them they were Taiwanese but the present ones must surely be Chinese.

The Hazet is obviously in a different league to both types, they feel lighter, the ring ends are superbly forged and very thin walled but also deeper and have the flank drive style. Obviously I've not used them properly yet, but they live up to my high expectations of them so far. Nice feel.

7mm:
Hazet is shorter here, these small JBS always seemed very long to me.
View media item 83261
10mm: (I'm missing the 10mm Siddy)
Hazet catching up to JBS in length now, even at 11mm the Sidchrome is quite short by comparison.
View media item 83260
13mm:
Bizarrely, in spite of being made in three different continents and at least three decades apart, all of these 13mm spanners were made upside down!
Note 150th anniversary 13mm Hazet.
View media item 83259
19mm:
In the larger sizes the Hazet gets a bit longer, and the JBS was generally a pretty longish wrench already. I like them.

Metabo are releasing more pictures and videos of their new brushless 1/4 impact driver. Anyone know the COO? They wont respond to me on facebook, and it looks similiar enough to the Hitachi brushless driver that I'm thinking it may be china.

Hi guys! I think I'm in need of your expertise. Was visiting my grandfather earlier today, and we started talking about tools, not so strange since he after all spent his whole life working in the tools selling business.
After talking some about power tools, Walter and Hazet he started talking about an Italian tool manufacturer situated in the northern parts of Italy. I can't seem to recall the name of them, but I know it's not Beta or USAG. He said they made some nice high quality tools, but wasn't the biggest manufacturer, since they "where quite slow" in manufacturing.

So I'm wondering if anyone knows whom the manufacturer might be, even if they no more are in business, my curiosity will probably not last until I can talk to him again.

As I was moving some boxes I re-discovered these 2 pieces from SK-Facom. I had purchased them from my local hardware store (Orchard) that carried Craftsman and they were clearing them out. I moved and placed them in a box so they have been in storage for at least 15 years.

Pastorino is from the northern province called Varese, so maybe them? ....at least before it became part of the Stanley B&D "empire" and all you see is that infamous Expert logo. :spit:

Maybe it's about OMMA Utensili or Mundial Casartelli? But I'm not sure if Mundial tools are made in Italy. Typical Chinese/Taiwanese quality.

Screwdrivers are made by Oplast in Slovenia. I've got the 14mm slot with strike cap which is a real weapon...

One more try at asking if anyone knows where Tooxem tools are made??? Thanks!

Just googled them. They don't have a coo on the front of any packaging or anywhere obvious on the tools. Are they not just a brand rather than a manufacturer so they may source tools from all over? No help at all I know.
