Are there any good air hammers from the old world out there? The ones I see (i.e. Hazet) are looking more like cheap toys (compared to those badass SnapOns)

Awesome to see that is made in Germany. I'd looked at that, but the multi function of it had steered me away. its too often that a tool that is designed to do it all, isn't great at doing it all. So I was trying to stick with a dedicated rotary hammer. I ended up switching to the Bosch Bulldog 1 1/8 SDS Plus, as its made in Germany.

I did speak with a metabo person from marketing for their USA branch whom I've spoken to in the past about issues concerning warranty and the gear casing defects on their drills. He recommended I give the drill a try and that it was a great tool, and I said the best way for us as consumers to encourage companies like Metabo to continue making their tools in countries that pay a living wage to workers and hopefully create quality products was to return tools like this. If they can't sell them, they'll stop making them. So slow boat back to China is where I sent it (actually just Amazon returns).
Yeah,

I am doing the same like you and every tool fair I am I say the same but how many people do it.

With regards to multifunction that is a good point. You can only change chucks and it is straightforward and it is different than the "normal" quick and beefy. We will see how it performs and report back; some light use seems to show a good functioning.

The Bulldog is a top of the class SDS. I was also thinking to buy the Bosch and only reason was that the gearbox was not alu/ mag.

We have Quick chuck vs Alu/ Mag gearbox to find out which goes first[emoji6][emoji482]

Visited my home town this weekend so took the opportunity to go in Machine Mart which has been there as long as I can remember.
Thanks for the pics !!

Maybe Atlas Copco. I think the yellow industrial tools are from hungary, don´t know about the black ones:

I´m almost sure there is metal under the plastic.
edit: at least some metal :)

Is this a really old style Stahlwille torque wrench handle? I always thought they were smooth plastic and not ribbed?...
I'm asking because I can buy one for cheap, but I don't want it if it's 40 years old :D

These arrived today. ( $340 AUD, plus $149 AUD shipping ; the exchange rate has seriously curtailed my purchasing).

node105- they're beatiful ;)

does anyone know if they are available in Europe? or something similar?

They are :) I like them more than my Bessey WS-9's already

They post anywhere as far as I know, the USD/EUR exchange rate is good. I USD = 0.85 EUR, unlike USD = 1.37 AUD. Effectively in the last 2 years, buying from O/S and shipping to OZ has gone up 50% in the last 2 years.

Help please, I've bought loads of hand tools from Germany (HFG, Jens, Tbs-Aachen) in the past but which German online shop ships power tools (Bosch, Metabo) for delivery to Australia?

Facom R.210RC 1/4 locking extension picked up from Machine Mart.

Would be interested to know who makes this as the chrome is different from other Facom tools I have seen. My Facom sockets are polished. Had a old 1/2 ratchet that had a smooth satin finish. This is quite textured similar to Stahlwille or Gedore. Not suggesting it's German, just a similar finish. With no COO it's probably China or Taiwan I guess.

Has anyone used a Gedore 2697920 1/2 magnetic extension or something similar? The extension has a magnet on a spring mechanism that holds a bolt in a socket. I find the magnetic tip on screwdrivers to be invaluable so would like to try a 1/4 magnetic extension for a ratchet. Think it would be useful when fitting car trim. Any reason why magnetic sockets aren't commonplace? :headscrat

Package from Amazon.

Gedore 1b 12 combination spanner. Very textured chrome with a blemish free finish. Stylish looking design. Would look awesome if the raised parts were polished like Belzer. Marked 'Germany.'

Engineer TR-01 taper reamer. 'Ideal for reaming holes in sheet metal, aluminum and similar material.' Not sure why the handle is removable. Will be easily lost. May try wrapping some tape around it or glueing it in place. Made in Japan.

Initially tried to hold it like a cork screw and nearly shredded my fingers.

Stanley Fatmax awl. 5mm diameter. Square tapered but the very tip is cut more rounded and very sharp. For wood and soft materials. One thing I noticed while taking pics that I hasn't been an issue using Stanley drivers at work on a flat bench is that there is no part of the handle design that stops these from rolling away. Made by Bost in France.

Hazet 803 pozi pz1 and pz2. Not normally a fan of hard plastic or triangular handles but use torx in this range at work and found the tips to be extremely durable. No coo. Not sure who makes these.

Edit... coo = Slovenia

The pics on Amazon show hex bolsters. The drivers I received lack this feature. There looks to be versions with and without the hex and maybe older versions of both without the blue accent. All seem to have the same part number which is confusing.

41_ODQXk_Wy_KL.jpg

Stanley Fat Max folding chisel. Was a low cost 'add on' item. A magnet finds no metal in the handles apart from the ends so they can be hit with a hammer if you are brave enough. Not particularly sharp but did come straight so was easy and quick to sharpen. Assuming it's designed to be thrown in a tool bag it would be safer if there was something to stop the handles opening when the chisel is folded away. There are clips to hold the handles together when the chisel is open. Feels like a toy. Can be opened in one hand like a balisong . Guessing coo is China.

About 20 years ago I bought a set of old Belzer ratchet and sockets at Essen auto show held in Germany. No. 7750 DRGM is written on the ratchet and I guess it was produced before WW2. I attached some pictures. If anyone knows better about this wrachet, please let me know.
Thanks, Takeshi

Still think it's humorous that to find this size (21/32") in 3/8 drive, pretty much only options are Heyco, Ko-ken, and KTC. No US made options that I could find (all US made 21/32" sockets are 1/2 drive). The German Heyco was cheapest and most readily available option. Apparently they have a partnership with Wiha.

It would be interesting to see how the PB and Knipex tools hold up through the outdoor environment through the winter.

Magnetic sockets (the non-spring-loaded kind) will not engage the nut as the stud protrudes through)
I would suggest looking into Ko-ken nut-grip sockets. They come in various styles: standard, semi-deep, deep, extra-deep, and on swivel sockets

I got the original Bost version. I find the square taper reamer is super handy in woodworking and other reaming duties.

According to Facom, COO on this item is France. Only the R.215RC is Taiwan.

Just googled them an found an informative vid on youtube showing one used on a rotator ratchet  Been looking for an excuse to buy some Ko-ken.

Thank you. I've not been able to find any coo info on the Facom website.

Very nice indeed. How did you manage to get these delivered to Australia?

Fireball Tools do international shipping.

Many, but not all places do. If there is something I gotta have from the US ( which is is very infrequent as I mostly buy from Europe), I use an Oz based service - Price USA; they have locals in the US who buy the item, and then ship to me. A far better solution than the freight forwarders I have tried.

Hello addict experts,

Does anyone own any of these boxes? I would like to know if the items stored in the dividers are stay put and do not fly around when the lid is closed. It seems that there is no tight/ lock closure of the lid compared to other Raaco boxes where there is u/o profile to the lid for separating the dividers.

THANK YOU

My wife brought me this today, (Lidl supermarket) I think Wiha has a very similar one.

^^^^^ I've been told their chisels are a good deal but my local store never has any.

Stanley (Bost) after 3-4 years daily use. Tip didn't show any significant wear so was fully functional until it gave up completely today.

I avoid anything Stanley nowadays. They look good however the quality is not what is used to be even if they are still made in the old world.

I was once tempted to buy a couple of them when I saw them in Homebase as they were cheap but checked some reviews online and I didn't in the end.

We get through a lot of screwdrivers at work so was actually happy with it's service. Found softer tips wear quickly and start to slip. Agree Stanley is a mixed bag though and can be junk.

also ordered these orbis circlip pliers from amazon. ordered 2 sets, 1 straight set and 1 90 degree set but i was missing the inside 90 degree and got a 45 degree needle nose instead. the correct one should be in tomorrow.
i was gonna go with knipex since all my others are knipex but i got all 4 for $34 so im not gonna complain. they seem to be very good quality, finish is the only thing that seems a little less then knipex.
