@american lockpicker
i think they have a plant in germany and slovakia. On this page if you look @ the year 1990 (or 2 plants there ?)
Interestingly some "Dremel" products are also made in slovakia (by Wolfcraft ?) click, click and click (scroll down to "product attributes")

I think all of us dream about the same kind of sightseeing during holidays, that reminds me of my trip to NURNBERG to change a rocker arm on an opel astra, I had to work on the sidewalk, had to go and buy it at the opel dealer (I do not speak german at all) and I also had to build some kind of spring compressor before going there with a fuzzy memory of the size of the parts, those were the days!!!!

sounds like a good vacation trip ! :lol_hitti

Pricing of tools is that way from the cheapest to the most expensive;
cochonium (pigonium in english or schrottonium in german), cogex, Mrbricolage,bost,facom

haha lol :lol_hitti

We can test the smoothness of the Bost case, that's AMAZING wooohoooo:wtf:

yay !!!

here are some fischer darex items facing the screwdrivers area;

thanks for the pics !! the Fischer-Darex website is not very significant ...

@Dave:
Witte says they make their blades and the screwdrivers are made for the swiss market for swiss screws. Outside of switzerland you can buy the regular Witte screwdrivers.

Servus,

@Maxipouce
Thanks for the great pics. It's interesting that the product range of DIY stores differs considerably even within the "old world".

:D ;) you and your alter ego ?? :D ;)

Sorry, we are three then. I didn't think of my alter ego first.

I bought them at a local store here,but i promised the employee not to tell where i buy all the tools for cheap because it could affect his workplace.......

Alright. At least I know now that a decent discount is possible.

How do you like your new NWS pliers, Monte?

@chreese:
Do you have a link for the Fischer files ?

Not really. This is what I have found so far. I'll try to find out more.

ps: please post some pics of your Festool tools (sander, vacuum etc.)

I'll hopefully be able to take some pics this week.

@american lockpicker:
The deburring tool seems to be from Noga

Apparently, yes:

Monte do you have any tools from East Germany(DDR)?

I'm not Monte but ... a vice made in GDR - and destroyed in Austria.

Wera "screw gripper" screw holding device for screwdrivers and L-keys/T-keys/wrenches etc.

To my knowledge, the screw gripper is already available, at least in Europe.

I'm familiar with the problem but Athlet's solution doesn't convince me. I still prefer the "old way" - Festool cordless drill with eccentric attachment.

This is a well-made, powerful (plenty of torque for drilling large holes and driving big screws) corded drill with impressive versatility. You might be like to watch this video in order to learn more about it.

I just bought two Bosch measuring lasers... the US market one was a 130' (40m) range model and made in Malaysia but the other one I bought (GLM 250 VF) which is rated to 250m (750') and only sold in Europe (I bought it from Toolstop.com.uk) currently is made in Switzerland and mine had a production date of December 2009.

How much is one?

This pro grade one was 224 Pounds Sterling which worked out to $360 or so. The other one which is not bad for the price was $90 at Home Depot.

I tested the Pro grade on outside today with a good bit of sun out and so long as it's mounted steady, I was able to take a distance reading of over 500' consistently with the bright light... amazing.

Servus,

Sorry, we are three then. I didn't think of my alter ego first.

Alright. At least I know now that a decent discount is possible.

some prices are below their prices though....
electric tools are only around 20-30% off, the margins are not very high.

How do you like your new NWS pliers, Monte?

I didn`t use them really, the newer ones from this year not at all. The yellow/black pliers are basically only for the collection, i don`t know if i find a use for the "peacemaker" but I think i`ll find a use during this year for the "Quattro-gripp" and the "powerbolt" pliers.

Not really. This is what I have found so far. I'll try to find out more.

Thanks ! Do the file say "Austria" somewhere ? (Looking for a "made in Europe" file set) Bahco, Tome Feteira, Blu-dan, Vallorbe, Corradi, Baiter (?) ....??

I'll hopefully be able to take some pics this week.

That would be cool. Festool is among my favorite brands ! :)

I'm not Monte but ... a vice made in GDR - and destroyed in Austria.

I think it can be welded

To my knowledge, the screw gripper is already available, at least in Europe.

Yes, i already saw them at the "Bauhaus" with a 2 piece VDE screwdriver set.

Sure this solution is much better but also about 560.-€ more expensive :D
But for the perfect drill its probably ok

I like all the attachments - perfect for woodworking.

Monte, is there a specific use of for the two semi-circular groves (highlighted in green and red) regarding the picture you posted?

The teeth look very aggressive to say the least :). How does the bite compare to the corresponding Knipex and Bahco products?

@TheMuffinMan
I didn`t test them yet , they`re too new. But I`ll let you know during this year :)

"Mule" posted a couple of his NWS Quattro-Gripps here (post #1377) and wrote about them here (post #1388)

The groove/notches are for (i think) holding small round material like nails, to pull them out of wood etc. or to hold them while you hit them with a hammer or to bend small steel rods etc. In the 2nd video you see the function of the notch with the combination pliers which also have a notch.

Servus, Monte,

electric tools are only around 20-30% off, the margins are not very high.

Of course, it depends on the brand, but 20 or even 30 % off power tools basically sounds like a good deal.

Regarding the Fischer files, I'm in contact with a very knowledgeable former tool dealer who might be able to enlighten us. Besides, I will call the Fischer company mentioned in my previous post, probably next week. Do you know if the Braun/Bludan files/rasps are made in Austria?
FIW HOLGER KLAES seems to be an interesting option.
Are you familiar with Iridium?

I think it can be welded

I can't weld and I don't know somebody who could weld it for me. I do doubt that I will be able to learn how to weld any time soon. Do you think the vice is worth an attempt? Since I already have a Matador 180 mm vice (got it used for a good price) I don't urgently need another vice. However, a second vice - a small one - was on my mind.

Sure this solution is much better but also about 560.-€ more expensive
But for the perfect drill its probably ok

The CDD set was "only" around EUR 475 back in 2002. And in my opinion it's worth the price. The current Festool drills are "state of the art" (electronic clutch, brushless motors etc.), a sole cordless right angle drill (from Makita or Dewalt, for example) isn't cheap and, as far as I know, the eccentric attachment is unique today. Some years ago, Panasonic offered a eccentric cordless drill which has been discontinued in the meanwhile. All in all, Festool's cost/performance ratio is more than acceptable from my point of view.

nice !! Looks like the anniversary model with extra sockets and extension (and bag)

Yep, that's the model.

I like your Protool drill ! I wish i would be into woodworking to have a reason to buy all the Festool and Protool stuff :)
ps: Does the drill have a safety clutch ?

Well, I'm neither into metalworking nor into working on trucks and tractors but nevertheless own a Stahlwille 3/4" socket set (along with many other tools I don't really need at the moment). I only need them to feel good.:bounce:
Furthermore, both Festool and Protool make power tools a "garage guy" could use: Festool has a wide range of excellent sanders, polishers, shop vacs and the cordless drills. And I'm convinced that the Protool DRP 20 Quadrill performs well at drilling larger holes in metal.
No, to my knowledge, the DRP 16 doesn't have a safety clutch. It seems that the PDP 32-2 EQ and the DRP 32-4 are the only corded Protool drills with safety clutches.
Apropos safety clutch, I found an interesting deal for a Kress 1100 KH-Max rotary hammer drill and thought about getting one a few days ago. I checked it out a local store and realized that the on/off switch doesn't lock which I find rather inconvenient for chiselling. In order to gain more information, I contacted Kress. They explained to me that it was not allowed to provide larger rotary hammers that can be used for drilling with lockable on/off switches. The Kress 1100 KH-Max has a safety clutch but apparently, this is not considered to give sufficient safety. While I'm aware of the risk of drilling with the switch being locked in the on-position and wouldn't do that by any means, I do think that this legal requirement is some kind of "over-regulation". (Some) Bosch rotary hammers come with a special feature: The switch can be locked in the chiselling mode but not in the drilling mode.

Nice NWS pliers.:thumbup:

Those Bosch laser distance measures appear to be good. My DLE 50 (Made in Romania, by the way) has been handy a lot of times.

Here a link to a website were they say the Bludan rasps are made in Austria. Here another link with info about Bludan/Braun. Here a file from germany - i wonder who is the manufacturer.
I have a bunch of Pferd and Bahco files/rasps so its not urgent to buy more but I´ll check before i buy more who still produce here, Klaes, Kaiser, DFM-Corona and for rasps "raspelhauerei" are on my list. Never saw or heard of Corradi/Iridium only know the corradi brand from the Pferd catalog.

it depends on if its completely cracked or just a small part. If you have to hire someone it would be to expensive, if you would know someone maybe it cost you only a case of beer :). But since it is not the case i would just look for a used one from ebay...

Bosch has something similar like Festool :D ;) :D

1564520.jpg

I agree with you. Unfortunately my budget don`t contain any money for another large drill, so I`ll look into a Bosch 10,8V drill/driver set. The Protool drills with up to 3800 rpm are a good alternative (or supplement :) ) to the Festool drills. Maybe next year.... ;)

No, to my knowledge, the DRP 16 doesn't have a safety clutch. It seems that the PDP 32-2 EQ and the DRP 32-4 are the only corded Protool drills with safety clutches.

I thought about using the drill as a screwdriver or nutdriver (with socket) so "Safety clutch" came to my mind...

hm interesting. i wonder because other drills can be locked....?? This Duss for example. That would be too annoying to hold the switch while chiseling the tiles from a bathroom or so...
ps: what do you plan to do with a 10 joule hammer drill ? :)

The woman in the picture of the Assistant on steriods is throwing the scale off. My math has the new bigger assistent at 63.89 inches tall x 43.58 inches wide x 21.9 inches deep which isn't that big.
I hope the classic pliers (or at least a new Knipex version) and Wera bit holder make over here. How many teeth does the Wera bit holder have? I'm definitely interested in those. Perhaps samstagsales will get one of the new assistents.:headscrat

I finally sold my Snap-on cabinet and purchased this one. Although not the 179BIG, it is still very nice for my growing tool collection :rocker:. I received it today after a short wait. Both the HAZET and Snap-on are very good quality, but I give the edge to Hazet. The wood top is simply beautiful. :thumbup:

That cart looks really nice (a lot better than some other (cheap) carts I've seen from hazet).
The foam inserts are also very nice.
Doesn't look cheap either :(

The laptop plateau is really cool!

The foam inserts are cool too !!! I also like the "side drawer" for long tools e.g. torque wrenches and the extra "table"

Monte,

The 179big-1 seems to be just what i need.
How much are you going to pay for the new Hazet box?
Where did you order it?
Hoffmann, TBS Aachen, nor our local Hazet supplier here in Belgium seems to know anything about it yet.

The "Koloss" ratchet looks serious, I'd be tempted to buy just because of the Bad #&% factor. The bit ratchet looks very useful. I wonder what the dimensions are, judging from the art work it looks real tiny.

I wonder how NWS's new three component handles will compare to the current counterparts. It's difficult for me to imagine that they can improve the dualies being how wonderful they feel :)

Hazet, congrats on the new chest! That wood top looks like a really nice touch :thumbup:

@Hazet
be carfull with this side table...it will not hold a notebook on it...one small push and it fells off (the laptop).

@Hazet new tools

hmm...nothing new, all old stuff that I've seen years ago from other brands. The big new box has the same small drawers as the older assistents.

I don't get it...why has Hazet no good fine tooth ratchets with a flex head? And why no long ratchets like snap-on has?

Oh...a stubby ratchet promotes as NEW?! Hell...us brands have those stubby ratchets since WW2....
