I thought that script logo ones always had year stamp, strange. I can't remember exactly, but script logo ones should be 40-50s I think, but don't quote me on that. A nice pair anyway!

You're just back to inspect the damage you have done to everyones wallets... :shocking:

An older style of paint scrapers I would say.

Some of my own recent pickups:
IMG_7776.jpg

Got the Heuer vice for €35, very happy with that. I was going to re-paint it first, but changed my mind and has only brushed away the worst spots and oiled it up for now.

Also got the 2019 Wera advent calendar, a nice kit but I mostly got it for the cork screw :)

21 pair of needle nose pliers, all old world except for that one pair of Channellock.

How useful do you find the Knipex needle nose/combination pliers?

How well do the jaws mate? I'm a fan of Knipex but bought a pair of single angled bent needlenose 5 yrs ago and they were horrible. Almost as bad as Channellock. NWS mates absolutely beautiful

How useful do you find the Knipex needle nose/combination pliers?

The Knipex 08 22 145 is a long story... I was given it by a Knipex representative that wanted to convince me of its excellence. And I'm not sure how I feel about it. On one hand it is brilliant, with extra functions built into the jaws compared to a regular combination pliers. The three point gripping function really works, and in many cases a needle nose is better than a flat one. But my original worry is the size. 145mm is just too small in many instances for me. My "EDC" pliers, the 02 01 180 is just so more useful for me often. I might not just have given them the chance they deserve though, perhaps the size would be a problem less often than I think. And of course, my use is perhaps not typical, I can imagine it would be great for like bike work and such.

I was surprised it didn't have one anywhere, since the markings near the pivots are identical, suggesting the same dies or line/set of dies, anyway. A production inconsistency, I suppose. I will double check to see if it isn't possible it was lightly stamped and worn away, though I doubt it.

The alignment of the jaws is perfect. No overhang on any side. No play in the pivot. The jaws touch at the tips, not the entire length of the serrations. If you were grasping something paper thin, then you would need to use the tips of the jaws. Stuff that's thicker could be grasped along the entire length of the serrations which extend past the bend.

I have not seen pliers with 2 bends from any other manufacturer. I'm sure it's not easy to do it right but Knipex makes it look easy.

Which NWS pliers are you talking about? I'd like to see a photo of the jaws that you use as an example. "Beautiful" sounds good! I will probably buy them.

KC Tool has a video that gives a good look at the Knipex pliers from multiple angles. Scroll down the product page to find the video.

Monte: do you think those will last longer than a cheap set or just not rust? you always have cool stuff to post even though I like most of my tools that are 1960's and older.

have a great day!!

I want to use these for stainless steel fasteners. Often you see stainless fasteners on boats or in the garden (pergola/shed...) with a river of rust coming from their heads...From residues of regular steel screwdriver bits. So stainless steel bits for stainless steel screws.
I like old (looking) tools too, but they can be new :) Luckily Snap On + others still make tools which look like they´re from the 1960´s :)

Valpro fuel can supposed to be made in Latvia.

After working with both, Metabo would be my choice mostly because you can set the rpm and only handle the drill when chiseling/ hammering.

You could choose the smaller/ lighter Metabo 2660-2 for everyday work.

This is a special tool from Hazet - T60 Flywheel Bolt socket.
You can remove them with a normal T60 bit, but it's annoying because you have to move the dual-mass assembly to access each bolt.
If someone needs it - the P/N is 83300491018.

I used this for quite some years, but I managed to lose it. 7 mm stubby hex bit. Extremely useful on rear brake calipers of BMW's, especially the E90/E91/E92/E93.

Could anyone confirm if HAZET makes their pliers by themselves or they outsource these?

I don´t think they make them. Depends on which type of pliers I think they´re from Orbis/Will or "Otra" Pliers.

Local store has a sale on this range so picked up a pair of the 200mm with the extra bolt/nut gripping section. Are they made by Bost?

I have a puzzle considering some german tools. Monte, this is your field of expertise! :) Any help is welcomed! :)

Photos are attached. Red Atorn combination pliers, yellow-black Ironside cutters. Both are "made in Germany". On the inner side of handles, Ironside has a little circle with an arrow and letters (A, B, C,...., M). As far as I know, neither Atorn or Ironside make pliers by themselves. Any idea what company made those Atorn combination pliers? Same question for the Ironside?

Another puzzle for me is this round head ratchet. There are no other markings on it, just "Chrom-Vamadium" and "Germany". Design is very specific, with a thin handle. Any idea about the manufacturer of this ratchet?

I was thinking about pulling the trigger on the Hazet set, but was wondering how the gift card worked. Is it valid in the US? Ironically the gift card is written in English, but the instructions are in German.
