Man you have one hell of collection.:bowdown::drool:

Are those Will pliers still made and if so who sells them? I did a search and I came up with nothing.

Servus, folks,

A few pages back, we talked about jigsaws. Check out this video for more information about the new Festool Carvex jigsaws. Impressive! I already want one. (The video shows Festool tools and the Festool booth at the HolzHandwerk show in Nürnberg, Germany).

@Monte:
Which Stahlwille items did you finally order?

I forgot to call Fischer/St. Egydyer but stumbled across Fischer/St. Egydyer files in the HM Müllner catalogue (page 141 ff.).

The beam and also the "joint" seem to be much more beefy compared with other ratchets like Snap-on or Facom. After seeing a SO ratchet broke here in a thread I need something stronger.

I'm not afraid of breaking a Facom ratchet but the opinions on the newer Facom tools seem to be controversial from what I can tell from this thread. I still don't know if Facom is worth the price.

a jacket also has pockets :D

That's true but usually, I don't wear a jacket during summer. ;)

RE: sanders:
The Rotex would be my first choice but if money were a serious issue I'd contemplate ordering the Makita BO6040 from the UK.

The sale will be valid 1 year so enough time to pick them up step by step. :)

Apparently, in Austria the Stahlwille Focus 2009 promo is valid more than one year.
Thanks for the links to the VBW sales.

I only have one quick release extension right now, the plan say to buy all sizes.

Good plan. :thumbup:

Fantastic. I bought the Hilti for work and the Bosch for home. Almost got the Metabo for work though.

I don't think the Hilti and Bosch tools mentioned by you are designed for the same application as the Metabo LF 724 S. The Metabo is suitable for the removal of paint and varnish from even wooden surfaces - not from concrete.

@chreese:
just called Stahlwille and they dont have a "Focus sale" here :( ...so I have to try it with a printed out Focus flyer from Austria............

I'm sorry to read that. I hope you got a good deal nevertheless.

If you don`t use locking pliers often, a regular 10" curved jaw for example from Bollmann (Hoffmann-group) will do the job for less $$.

Thanks for the suggestions. I already had a couple of locking pliers (Gedore, Garant, Findor (?)) and just bought the Beta locking pliers last week.
In the meanwhile, I also received my Keiba, IPS pliers and some more stuff. I hope that I can take pics during the Easter holidays.

I'll have to check out these Jerry chisels.

Do you have access to the Fine Woodworking (FWW) magazine? I'm not sure about 2009 but there certainly was a chisel test in the Sept./Oct. 2008 issue.

Regards,

Chreese

@chreese:
thanks for posting the video link !
Interesting stroboscopic light on the saw... Disco Pogo dingerlingerling dingerlingerling :D ;) The "Mini-Rotex" looks cool !! The oscillating/non-oscillating switch is a great idea. 2 tools in 1.
Thanks for the info about the HM Müllner files !!! I`ll check those out "live" if i can find them.
The Facom dealer here said that they will warranty Facom tools with no question asked even if the tool was misued. I don`t know if its just blabla or real, never tried it. So i don`t know. Maybe worth a try, maybe not...
Yes please spend your easter holidays with taking pics :D !! ;)
From the UK would be an option but i need to try the tools before (check vibration etc., i also favor the Kress version since Mafell also offer it :) ) )
I didn`t buy any wille stuff due to the not existing promo, i was heading to the dealer who has NOS wille + other stuff but they did "take stock" (Inventur) so i head for 5 other stores and bought some stuff which i pictured here and other stuff...(Elora, Elofort, Anex, IPS, Belzer, NWS, Felo, Paramo, SKG + Park Tool)

ps:
a chisel test from finewoodworking.com: http://www.finewoodworking.com/ToolGuide/ToolGuidePDF.aspx?id=31061
(unfortunately you have to be a member to view it....)

@superautobacs: the super-ten ratchet still looked new, he also wasn`t there so i couldn`t ask. I guess it was a gift like the CAT ratchet which also still looks unused, the most used ratchets are the Proxxon`s and the Stahlwille "512". The super-ten ratchet has a nice small head, ratcheting is ok. Design is very modern but not my style.
Yes the Gedore drivers makes a very nice pry bar ! Unfortunately i was so dumb to sell him both drivers for 10.-€ each instead of keeping one... :(

but i got this Felo driver with 10mm hex blade which sits in my drawer together with the pry bars.... ;)

a1qweaq051.jpg

re: the Metabo "Paint Remover"
AFAIK Metabo is the only one in the world who produces such a tool. Its actually a "mill"

That's a nice prybar. Too bad you can't really wail a BFH on the handle though :D ...but the Felo has the advantage of having a hole on the handle for twisting. :D

The SuperTen is a 72-tooth, right? A little "heavy" on the return stroke?

I was looking through my drawer of files and noticed something that I had overlooked: a single-cut Tome Feteira file.

4473686324_744c0f28a7_b.jpg

The thing I like about this is the convex cutting edges:

4472911317_27e7bd0304_b.jpg

A selection of grinding/cut-off discs from the EU.
All the JET stuff is from either Germany, Netherlands, or EU.
The one on the bottom left is made in :canada2: ....but I find that it doesn't perform as well as the German made cut-off.

@superautobacs:
Interesting ! The convex cutting edge is a great idea to file small radii i think. Just looked in the catalog, they`re available with sharp edges or 1 or 2 round edges and made for sharpening circular and crosscut saws.
Only found "Black Diamond File works. G. & H. Barnett" from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Do you know more of Black Diamond Canada ?
Another Jet ! I thought there is only this Jet (Wilton etc.) but Canada has it`s own exclusive ("Products not available in the USA") Jet :) another source for a "Rotator" ratchet and other import stuff... :D

@crustyD3mon:
welcome on-board :)
nice Palmera insulated pliers !!!! The pliers insulation is made out of PVC. The pliers are dipped several times in a PVC bath. In case of the Palmera pliers it looks like the complete pliers were dipped. Or do you mean where the pliers are made ? Should be "made in Spain" in Irun/Spain. Do you have more tools from Palmera or Irimo, Irazola or Acesa ??
yes www.tomefeteira.com is made in portugal.
"Bahco" files are also made in Portugal !

Does someone know STABYL ( yes it's an Y), I have a decently sized puller from them but I can't figure out where it is made, I know some sthalwille wrenches say stabil, there is a stabila brand in Austria so I guess STABYL is european:headscrat

Yehh...when i'm asking its where its really was maded from....now i know it is in spain....probably its the main reason that we use lots of this tools here in Portugal...eheheh

Someone try something from Palmera before? What do you think?

I consider a medium quality tools...i never broke anything from this brand...this tools had a considerable good durability...its my opinion...but i wanna ear yours...

I have lots of Palmera tools....mainly pliers...in the weekend i post some pics.....

Tomé Feteira i never ear about it...eheheh its strange but i never saw anything from this brand here....i need to check around...looks like this limes had a nice traditional layout....

never heard of Stabyl. A trademark search only showed "Stabyl" from www.fuchs-lubritech.com but for oil/grease etc. If it would be "Stabil" maybe from here, with "y" maybe eastern european ??

@crustyd3mon:
I only once saw some Palmera wrenches at a fair. Some Palmera tools appeared on Ebay.de like a 3pc. plier set and a pin punch set which was a "special" or so for the dealers to sell like a selected amount of "Irimo" brand tools which appeared in a "Bahco" promo flyer. (Irimo, Palmera, Bahco and other companies belong to Snap-on /USA).
Other than the wrenches i saw i have no experience with Palmera, so I can`t tell you anything. In Germany you`ll only find "Bahco".

It means that i can buy tools with a reliable quality for a much lower price than Snap-on........

Good to know that..eheheh

I also use lot's of Facom tools.....Cutters, screwdrivers, pliers, damm...i'm amazed with this tools...

Snap-on also gobbled up Belzer, and unlike the other manufacturers, they didn't even keep the name around.

Monte, thanks for showing us those rather unique (to me) grinding discs. Cool video from Pferd, too.

Anyone here have Lindstrom stuff? I only know about their white-handled precision cutters that cost a fortune.

"Rhodius" has a similar "see-through" disc so you actually see what you are grinding.

Unfortunately i don`t have any Lindström tools.
My dealer has one of the white handle Lindström pliers laying around... I`ll ask him next month what he want €€€€......

Check out this cool video about the production process of the "ultimate" Wenger Swiss Army Knife! :) The video shows the whole production process and a great overall sense of the Wenger/Victorinox factory. This is a direct link from the German TV show "Galileo" or download the free podcast on iTunes!

http://pro7-galileo.feedplace.de/rss+all

You can download it through iTunes under the "Schweizer Messer" episode of the "Galileo" podcast here:http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/galileo/id178358425
You need to "subscribe" to the free podcast to see the "Schweizer Messer" episode and download it there to play it in Itunes... free! :)

Here is a link to the Swiss Army knife they show:

Chreese,

what is that lemon green pen-like thing ?
Where did you get the tools with the japanese cards from ?
I'm looking at buying some stuff I found on youtube (factorygear), but i'm a bit reluctant to order from them directly.

Servus,

@chreese:
thanks for posting the video link !

The official Carvex video
More Festool videos can be found here.

The Facom dealer here said that they will warranty Facom tools with no question asked even if the tool was misued. I don`t know if its just blabla or real, never tried it. So i don`t know. Maybe worth a try, maybe not...

According to Facom, they offer a 20-year-warranty in Germany. I don't know what's covered though.

From the UK would be an option but i need to try the tools before (check vibration etc., i also favor the Kress version since Mafell also offer it :) ) )

You should have visited the HolzHandwerk show. ;) Maybe you will have the opportunity to try the different sanders at a local show ("Hausmesse").

Which NOS Stahlwille tools? You make me curious.
Maybe you can get promo prices if you show the Austrian Focus prospectus to your dealer.

re: the Metabo "Paint Remover"
AFAIK Metabo is the only one in the world who produces such a tool. Its actually a "mill"

Yep, if I recall correctly, the Metabo LF was sold by Lamello some years ago, too.

"Elektra Beckum" bench grinder.

Was this grinder really made in Germany? I tend to doubt it but I'm not absolutely sure.

@Steven:

Chreese,

what is that lemon green pen-like thing ?

This is a Lyra "'Pica-Dry' marker for deep holes". More information is available here.

Where did you get the tools with the japanese cards from ?

**** (in Germany) carries a few MTC, IPS and Keiba pliers (along with many other (mostly woodworking-related) exotic tools). I ordered them from Zellmer, my favorite Bavarian dealer, who is an official **** dealer.

By the way, you have lots of nice Hazet tools! Congrats! :thumbup:

exotic japanese tools from "KTC" and "Nepros" can be found in holland @ http://www.toolsandstorage.com/
"****" has 2 dealers in Holland (Amsterdam and Twello) and 1 in Luxembourg, but unfortunately not in Belgium.

@chreese:
thanks for the pics !!!!!!!! we definately have to see bigger pics of the MTC, IPS and Keiba pliers !!!!!!! :) (as well as the Gedore and Beta locking pliers, Dako pipe wrench and Gedore and NWS pliers :) )
After watching the Festool Carvex videos I`m convinced that it is the best jigsaw ever built by mankind :D ! Really good features i think !!!
The Elektra Beckum grinder is not from germany i think. Retail was about 85.-(i bought it for 25.-) so thats too low. German made ones are "Rema" and "Greif" AFAIK. Everything else from Poland (Metabo green), Bulgaria (Bosch), Czech Republic (old Bosch) etc. or even further in the east.... (don`t knowm about "Flott", some models at least from the same company who makes or made the Metabos). I spotted some Elektra Beckum models with a grinding wheel and on the other side a belt which said "Made in Germany" on the sticker.

re: NOS Stahlwille: The store where i bought my deep offset box wrenches with the "Stronger than any bolt" forged into (btw www.hellwegen-holtzhausen.de )
I will wait until Hoffmann has a sale again , or print out the 2009 promo.... The 2010 promo is unfortunately not online.
btw. "promo": Padre-Tirem 2010 promo flyer: click

re: sanders: There`s a dealer here who has Festool, Mafell, Makita etc. and they have a "Test center" where you can try out tools...So I`ll test them there when the time is right....

I did find toolstorage.com allready.
I had send them an E-mail asking about shippingcosts about 2 days ago, and have not received an answer. I therefore regard them is not very trustworthy. That's why I'm looking for another webshop to try an get some nepros. I am very curious about there quality. I also saw a special plier from Keiba I am very interested in:

Still, thanks for the info ;-)

@chreese: thank you for all the pics !!! The long slip joint IPS pliers look really nice. How do you like your new purchases ? ("Peacemaker" etc.)
I think I`ll order the straight version from IPS and the Keiba sidecutters from **** as well as the "screw pliers". Any other recommendation ?

ps: what did you pay for the IPS slip joint pliers ?
