Bucyrus-Erie, big boy tools, the Bucyrus part of it started here but has been long gone.

The Erie part of it is also now gone here in Erie but the building is still there at the corner of West 12th. & Weschler. It is currently being used by Perry Ship Building as heavy steel fabricating facility.

I grep up just north of Muskegon, MI, where they once made Yost vises. I'd love to find one for sale stamped with Muskegon. They are now manufactured a half hour south in Holland, MI.

I am now living in Kalamazoo, MI where Atlas bench tools were made, later bought out by Clausing. Clausing still operates here, but I'm not sure if they do much manufacturing at this location. Kalamazoo Industries makes industrial power tools here also, but they're priced out of my league. I live just about 5 minutes from KM Industrial Machinery, which makes CNC machines, lathes, and other industrial machinery.

a lot of the older craftsman v coded tools were made at a place called moore drop forge in springfield ma. the bulk of the craftsman tools i inherited from my grandfather are craftsman v USA labeled tools made right down the street from where I was born and still live. my grandmother retired from sears years back before she passed, my grandpa acquired mostly craftsman tools as she always got an additional 10 to 20 percent off at sears. I love them and the connection to a local manufacturer!

love the thread idea. glad I'm not the only one who feels a certain way about certain tools. i often see other tools i got from my grandpa that were a lot generally made nearby. cool to see local history tied to the area. sad a majority of the companies aren't still open and manufacturing.

Rhode Island is so small it counts as a town. At the height of the industrial revolution they squeezed a lot of mfg into a tiny place too..

Growing up in New Haven CT , I am always looking for old new Haven made stuff. I have a couple of Kilborn and Bishop wrenches from the early 1900's.
