since. Next up is a hand vise I just scored on the 'Bay, don't even have it yet, just shipped today. Hoping it matches the mini vises from the late 1800's that I have. It looks just like them.

Love it! That looks like a Colton patent variant - I have several Coltons, but they are all clamp-on or bolt-on bench vises.

Here's one if you were a paper boy back in the 60's you know this tool. The newspaper bundles back then came bundled with wire that was tighter than a guitar string. These wire cutters made unpackaging the bundle of papers a piece of cake. I think I got them from my grandfather, they were probably my uncles from when he had a paper route in the 50's.
They are marked Sargent & Co. New Haven Conn.

Was looking through the thread and found a familiar looking tool!

When I worked for New Britain in the early 1970's they had two programs going that never made it to production. The first was full polished wrenches to compete with SO. The 3/4" combo is a sample. The second was a stubby 3/8" ratchet. The sample I have was made by cutting the grip off of a standard ratchet and polishing the "nub".

Neat. Eventually they made the Matco BR6N stubby.

I got one, was my father's. I don't think he was ever a paperboy, though.

I have one of these. A totally useless, obsolete item. I haven't touched it since the 80s. It's so useless, I can't even ebay it.
