?? tools

I found these goodies in a tool box i purchased.[/ATTACH] Left to Right, what are they for? I seldom get stumped but i have never seen any of these before. I know the 4th one is a special socket but what was the application? The inside bit seems kinda delicate. Thanks

I don't recognize the others but the long tool in the center of the picture is for driving out Model A Ford valve guides. The last is used to retract the carbon brushes in starter motors and generators.

^ yeah... the Cornwell thingie is a valve guide tool for early Ford. I was just trying to figure out what it was last week with a similar item:

Perhaps it's the pic but the "Cornwell thingy" doesn't look rounded.......Looks flat? If the business end is flat like it appears, it's not a valve guide tool.

The one on the far left appears to be a type of drill guide to my eye. A machinist would drill a hole the size of the O.D. of the drill guide in a template, insert the guide, and then use the template to drill a hole the size of the guide's I.D. time after time in Production with very little set-up time except for positioning the template on the work piece.

The outer part of the left hand tool looks like a drill bushing (as Roberts 210 said), but the interior part is very specialized, with the offsets to the "keyway" as shown in the bottom photo. What size drill will go through the inner part and be supported? What are the diameters of the various parts?

If the fourth-from-left tool has a square drive, my money says it is a carburetor float valve seat tool (screwdriver) or a carb. jet tool for very large jets.

The valve guide tool looks a little long for a Model A. Perhaps it is for Flathead V-8?

Can you give us more information on the second-from-left tool? Does the upper part turn and move the flattened end of the shaft visable through the opening? Are there threads in the boss on the left? What are the diameters of the various parts/areas?

I can tell you the fourth from the left is spring loaded and the center retracts into the outer housing. Yes it is square drive. What i find interesting is that the "blade" in the center is very thin, about the same thickness as a hacksaw blade.

As for the 1st from the left, i will try to get closer pics tomorrow, and also the 2nd from the left.
