It's a really common practice for small businesses or start-ups, when they've outgrown their initial facilities. The logistics tend to be too complicated for smaller outfits selling at low margins to handle with the customer service level they otherwise strive for. I'm not saying it's the best practice, but it's certainly not uncommon for to shut-down internet sales during such a move.
This.
Even if their website is hosted, if they aren't able to process orders in the office, it can appear to many customers that their order is being ignored.
They posted a note on their website indicating they were moving and would be back in a few days.
Regardless of why they took the site down, it certainly better than leaving customers hanging in the interim, especially if they have little or no control over when the order will be processed due to the move.
I'm not defending their situation, but I'd rather see a notice the site will be down for a few days than placing an order and hearing nothing.
I've dealt with Tools Delivered a couple of times and things went smoothly with both orders. It's not like I'm buying heart medicine from them, so if I wait a few days it's no big deal.
I'd just as soon they wait until things are in place to handle orders the same way they have in the past.
None of the current situation lends itself to promoting speculation or rampant internet paranoia. They're closed a few days until they are ready to process orders again, no biggie. I'm glad to see someone doing well enough to warrant a move to a better location.
I haven't heard of anyone being ripped off, any orders ignored or delayed or any problems at all so I'm going to go with their closed for a few days and will re-open the site when they are ready to process orders.
In the internet world of I want it now and gossip, a few days can seem like an eternity and the speculation can turn into something akin to a bunch of old women sitting around and gossiping about the neighbors.
Hell, they might have been abducted by aliens or are a part of the new world order or know TSHTF is about to happen because they have inside information that mankind is already doomed and they packed up and got the hell out of Dodge...
...or they could be closed for a few days because they are moving
