Topside creeper

Looking into getting a topside creeper. Have a 03 Excursion with a 6.0 and a 04 F250 with a 6.0 that would allow maintenance to be so much easier if I have a topside creeper. Been looking at the Traxion 3-100 and Traxion 3-700 but not sure which to get. From the videos I have seen I may be leaning towards the 3-700 because of the accessible on the floor around tires and such.

Curious if anyone had either one of these and had any real world input on which one may be better. The videos I have seen hasn't shown anybody actually getting on it and using it and simply a product review.

I have the 3-100 version, as it was the only one available back then. While I don't use it much anymore, I used it extensively when I was driving my pickup. It was a lifesaver for doing work in the engine bay.

I have the 3-100. I use it on my lifted ram 1500. I'm a big boy and it hold me well and is pretty comfortable. I even used it on the wife's minivan when I had to work on the back of the motor. Definitely worth the money if you have the room for it. I was going to go for the 3-700, but I have had no issues with accessibility, and the 3-100 is plenty sturdy.

I have the 3-700 version and my buddy has the 3-100. They both have there pros and cons. The 700 is nice as you can go on either side of the tire but with the 100 you can straddle the tire. So depending where in the engine you need to work they both can have there pit falls. The 100 to me has a more comfy pad on the top where as in the 700 they cheaped out to me and it digs into your ribs pretty bad. All that being said you can't go wrong with either if you work on truck, they are live savers.

I have the 700 and the lack of padding around the top frame makes it quite uncomfortable if you don't put something else over it. And it wasn't a problem for me but its also too tall for half tons if you don't have them on a lift.

I have the original model that I picked up used. It takes up a lot of room when not in use. I stack things under it, as I rarely use it. It would be really nice if it folded up and leaned against a wall.

I have a 2001 F250 4x4 with the diesel engine, and find that this is great for working on the engine bay. I also have a 1995 Ford Superduty (F450) with a 7.5L gas engine, and find that it works just as well on that truck.

I have yet to find a situation where I can't access a spot because of interference with a front wheel.

Thanks everyone. Looks like I will probably go with the 3-100 unless I find a really good deal on the 3-700.

I can see a bracket on the cherry picker for this but it would take more than the maintenance on 2 cars to really make it work for me, both in expense and as a space taker. In a busy shop it probably speaks for itself.

I have one of the original 3-100 models. My wife bought it for me about 10 years or so ago now and I love it. It gets used a lot and is a real lifesaver, especially to avoid having to lean against any of the plastic cowl covers and such on all of the new vehicles. Very nice to be lying on the topside creeper and have both hands to work with vs. having one hand propping yourself up or leaning against something steadying yourself. I highly recommend one.

You would have to modify it to work the way the one in the picture does. I find they really hurt my knees if I use them too long, but there is no replacement for them, at least not for the price. Amazon will have low prices from time to time, I bought mine for $150 with free shipping.

I went with the Traxion 3-100 and it was one the best purchases I ever made. I use it for a lot of things and has been great for even oil changes on the f250 and excursion. I like the 3-100 cause I can straddle the tire and seem to have more options for placement.

I have the 3-100 at work, and just bought one for home...made my 7.3 injectors SOOOO much easier. Check out Jegs, I got their house model for pretty cheap and it's exactly the same as the Traxion.
