I would kinda like to ask just to keep this thread to just reviews of of folks who actually have my tools in their possession.

Sorry man, I got off track (as usual). It's understandable that you want to keep this thread specific to the tools.

As far as the tools I have used so far the Extra long metric combo wrenchs are a really good value, they work great and are very tough fit well and are thinner than my Cornwell set so I use both and they complement each other well.

I purchased a Toptul crimper set from Mike after seeing the very innovative design here on the board when another member posted a photo of it. The Toptul product was excellent. The design was indeed innovative--I've never seen a crimper which you can interchange the dies without a tool. The price was great, and I'm very happy with the quality and operation of the crimper. Additionally, the quality and design of the case was very surprising. Toptul makes some outstanding blow-molded cases.

Mike's customer service was extraordinary! In an era where juggernaught companies without a face or voice are the norm, Mike's personalized service is very refreshing. Mike was very prompt in responding to my queries as well as keeping me informed of the progress of my order--which spanned a weekend! I get the impression that Mike loves what he does, which is selling great tools at a great price while providing great service.

I look forward to future Toptul purchases from Mike Wren.

I purchased 3 items from Mike, all were better quality than expected and great values for the $$. I would not hesitate to buy again from Mike as he was an A#1 class act and offers quality tools for great prices.

Has anybody tried the Toptul swivel sockets?

I'm looking to buy some after Christmas, and it looks like Toptul is much cheaper than Craftsman. The truck brands are out of the question for the amount of use I would get out of them.

Mike, do you have them in stock?

Cat,

I think I have what you are asking about.......basically a socket that is attached to its own universal???

I have those but only in metric sizes 10 mm - 19mm and I'm pretty sure Toptul only makes them in 3/8 dr so far.

BAAL is the first 4 of the part numbers.
Thanks for asking!

i bought a set of those from Mike a while back. we used them on a subaru to get the steering column and shaft out. they're neither tight nor floppy - just right IMHO. they made a PITA job a lot easier. :)

I can't locate this crimper on the website. Can someone provide me either a link or part number as well as price?

I've needed a new crimper for a long time, and want to give Toptul a shot.

Thanks.

Here is my review of the Toptul products I purchased. First off let me say that it is a pleasure to deal with Mike.
The first item I will review is: DFBA2206 6" bent nose pliers. I have been using these pliers everyday at work for the last week doing bench work.(I am a sound engineer and this is time of year when I get to fix things). These are an addition to the Craftsman pro set I have been using. Craftsman doesn't make a bent nose pro. The fit and finish is excellent. I like the grips better the CPs. They have a nicer texture, are well balanced, and feel good in my hand. They do have a slight amount of flex when you squeeze the handles together real hard but I don't see this as a problem. The pivot point is tight and has no flex. The wire cutter works very well, and makes good cuts. (tested on wire up to 13ga).
The next item: CJHM1631 1/2 drive 72 tooth flex head ratchet. Let me start by saying that this is not a Snap-on Dual 80.... It is also not $130.00!!! I really like it. The ratcheting mechanism, although noisy compared to a Dual 80 it is smooth. The satin finish is very nice. I didn't think I would like it, I like polished chrome. The flex head is tight and holds it position well. I haven't used it very much but I did use it to take the lug nuts off my truck so I could get a feel for how well the ratchet preforms. I will say after six lug nuts, some I had to stand on the ratchet to break lose I am impressed. I know that standing on a ratchet to break loose a nut my be considered abuse but this ratchet is replacing a 12 ear old raised panel Craftsman 1/2" drive that this was done hundreds of times too. I wish the the direction lever was made of metal and that there was a way to tighten the flex head if needed but over all I am very impressed.
I also purchased a set of 1/2" drive mirror polish 6pt deep metric sockets. In my socket inventory I have a couple Snap-on and a fairly complete set of Craftsman. These are better. The finish is second to none, The chrome is amazing. They are about a 1/4" shorter then the Craftsman deep sockets they are replacing but the hold the nut further into the socket. The "flank" type design is very pronounced and the fit the nuts nice and snug. as for strength, I have only ever broken one socket in my life, but I don't anticipate any problems with these.
In conclusion; I will be adding many more Toptuls to my collection. They meet the requirements I have in most things I buy.
1. Quality.
2. Customer Service.
3. Usefulness.
4. Reliability , Durability.
5. Value.
6. Price.
Mike Wren,Thank you, you have a new customer, and you will be receiving a list from me in a couple weeks. :thumbup:

Ok, I've been trying to think of what I might want to try from Toptul - maybe this'll be it. Does the 10-19mm come in a set of any sort or are they sold individually? What is the current price for them all? I checked the website, but didn't see any set listed (of course I could be blind, stupid or both). :lol_hitti

I JUST sold a set so I have the prices handy.
For the set from 10mm to 19mm price before the discount is $35.20......after the discount is $28.16 before shipping. A pre packaged set is not offered but I have them all individually and I do not price differently for the same tool in a set or individually so I am not trying to steer you either way. I can put these on an extra rail that I have but I would rather just ship without so I can use a small box and save you shipping costs.

If you think you want them please email me directly at the address that follows.
Sincerely,

Wow. Ok, now I see what people are saying about the good price! I guess I *will* have to give them a shot. I'll send you an email after I check to see if there is anything else I need.

I contacted Mike over the holidays and discussed purchasing a set of the gearless drives in 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2". After we talked for a bit he suggested that the fine tooth ratchets would be better suited for my needs and cheaper. This seemed to support the board's responses of integrity when dealing with Mike and made me more comfortable buying sight unseen. I purchased the CJHM0814 (1/4"), CJHM1228 (3/8"), and CJHM1631 (1/2") drives in the satin finish. Mike shipped them off and I waited in anticipation for their arrival. They arrived and were packed securely. To my surprise, Mike even threw in a 3/8" 3" extension. Even more surprising was a handwritten note thanking me for the purchase. Ok, now to the tools. Fit and finish wise they are unbelievable considering the price. Sockets fit on smoothly with no slop (yes that is a technical term :) and do not come off until the button is pushed. The 1/2" had a slight grainy feel in the release which went away after about 15 cycles, but the sockets never came off until the button was pushed. The flex head is stiff and stays where you put it. Others that I have used had detents or something to keep them positioned. We will have to see how the pivot holds up. The 1/4" has an allen screw which could be tightened, but the other two have some sort of rivet which seems non-adjustable. The ratchet mechanism is very positive and takes little effort to engage the gear when reversing. The reverse lever also has a positive feel to it and never moved out of the desired direction during the tests. The handle grips are a rubber material, fit well in my hand, and do not slip even when wearing gloves without grippy (another technical term) surfaces on the fingers. There is hard plastic at each end of the grip to keep the grip positioned I assume. Finish on the tools was really good. The only place that I could see any roughness was around the reverse lever. It was slight, does not affect the function, and may even be meant to be like that because it was on each ratchet and consistent. Overall way better than my Craftsman stuff. Never dealt much with SO so can't compare. The only negative to this is the 1/4" drive showed up with an indentation on the direction lever and a piece of the coating removed. This is not a manufacturing defect, something hit this tool pretty hard to leave an impression and chip the coating. I did not mention it to Mike because it is not an issue with function and I feel that worse may happen to this tool in the near future. My gut says he'll replace it no questions asked at any time, but at this time it's not necessary. Time will tell on the durability, but overall I believe these are quality tools and well worth the money. I even ordered a few more items today. Below is the link to some pictures. Enjoy

Here are the pictures I promised.

The first comparison is a pair of Toptul 8" Cutters next to a pair of Klein 8" Cutters.

The next couple pictures are of a Toptul 3/8" ratchet.

Post 2:

Toptul 3/8" Drive ratchet set for tool trolley.

The last picture has a standard Craftsman 1/2" ratchet below the case to show the scale.

These are a few pictures of the Toptul 3/8" shallow sockets in the satin finish.

In the picture there is a Craftsman 14mm, Toptul 12mm, Toptul 14mm, and Toptul 24mm sockets.

~~~~~
All of the Toptul tools I have received have been of superb quality and value and I am putting together a wish list for me next set of purchases. I can highly recommend this brand.
Has anyone used any of the Toptul impact guns or air ratchets?
I like the looks of the "short" flex head 1/2 inch drive, and the "short" 1/4 inch drive ratchets, with the handle, a somewhat unique combination.:thumbup:
I had my daughter help me with posting my first photo on the board today and she ended up starting a new thread by mistake instead of putting it in here. I let her do the typing today because she's learning it in school now. Sorry for any confusion this may cause to your thread Mike.
How do the toptul cut compared to the klein?
The toptul cuts really well. The kleins are a few years old and well used, so I can't really do a fair comparison. I can say the Toptul cut through a #6 drywall screw and green lee metal fish tapes really easily.
How do the toptul cut compared to the klein?
They are better than the red handled kleins but not quite the level of the blue handled Kleins. I am very impressed with both of the sets I have and after using them for a few months I would say that unless your dykes see a lot of action I wouldn't buy the Kleins over the Toptuls.
Hey mike do you have the air ratchets in stock and whats are the prices? I'm thinking of putting one on the order I am piecing together.
Speed, I do have a "one of each" kinda action going on so just send me a part # to the tool email and I'll reply right back. I have a couple demo things that I'll let you have inexpensively as well since I can replace them with the next order.
(demo= I used them myself once to be able to see if I like them enough to sell or not)
I like the Hexes on the drive end of the extensions, do all toptul extensions have that Mike or is that unique to the wobbles?
