I thought I would share this... I was looking for a set torx plus bits and didn't want to blow a lot of money and these are made in the USA and also the seller will take 16.00 if you make an offer, it will accept the 16 right away and free shipping. Sizes TP10-TP60. CTA is the brand, this seems like a deal to me, so I thought I would share as they have more the 10 left. Lifetime warranty as well.

Anyone have experience with these? Are they a deal, or just a good way to gork up fasteners?

I use torx plus a lot on trans bellhousing bolts on gm's, other than that no real use for them. I have not run across anything else that uses torque plus. I use MAC sockets tho for the warranty.

Don't know if I will use them, but the one time I do it was worth the money and yes all I own is GM vehicles. I would hate to need them and not have them and for 16 I could afford to spend the money and never use them... Someone did recommend CTA for these in another link. I was looking at a set of wiha, but it was pretty spendy. I also would like some reviews if people like them or not?

They look quite a bit like the ones that Lisle sells at Sears. I find that the set from Sears is on sale at about 50% off quite often. I think when I got mine, they were 16.50, new from Sears.

If you are a large commercial aircraft mechanic, chances are you will be seeing a lot of torx plus in your future... and that's all I've got to say about that. May torq-set die a well deserved and long overdue death.

Well they came today and I will say I am impressed for 16 shipped to my door. Unlike snap on they are proud to say USA on them. Also they are made in carlstadt, new jersey and the web site is www.ctatools.com Also lifetime warranty!!!!

Here is the company info from the website.

CTA Manufacturing Corp. started in 1978 with a few specialty tools and a lot of great ideas. After spending over 25 years setting up worldwide distribution for the biggest names in the business, the founders of CTA decided to take some of their own ideas to market.

Originally named "Classic American Tools", the company expanded from manufacturing about 20 Specialty Tools to over 1000 tools under the CTA name today. Factories are located worldwide, manufacturing Specialty Tools to meet the demands of today’s technicians.

From micro-thin "Plastigage" to 600 Foot-Pound Torque Wrenches, CTA offers one of the widest ranges of Professional Specialty Tools in the market. Whether tuning up your ‘68 Corvette or changing the oil on a John Deere tractor, CTA can supply you with the tools needed to do the job.

Welcome to CTA – we look forward to serving your Specialty Tool needs!

i agree, the do look a lot like the lisle, hope they are stronger... i got tired of useing the warranty on my lisles... every time i used them they broke... (slight exageration) I finally got the mac set that has both torx and torx plus... have not broken one of them yet.... so far, minimal use of the torx plus...

Yup, I have a set of OTC branded regular torx bits that look identical to these. They have been really good bits. Nice buy OP...

torx plus can apply a stupid amount of torque in such a small area, which is the reason a lot of companies are going to them.

Thanks for the heads up 48548. The original listing has ended, but the seller relisted his unsold sets. So, I took advantage of the new listing and bought a set for a $16.00 offer. Only six sets left.

I bought a set of Snap-on Torx Plus off eBay for $85 which was missng the TP55. Then a friend gave me the TP55 randomly.

I've still never used them. Still haven't even seen a 6-lobe Torx Plus fastener..

Yep Moose, either have I, especially since I only work on old vehicles. But, with free shipping to the Islands, at $16.00, the price seemed right for a quality USA set. And who knows, someday I may buy a new car. :lol_hitti

I mostly work on new cars and have yet to run into one! My freind tells me he uses some Torx Plus on injector pumps, other than that i don't know. I run into more Triple Square than Torx Plus with the cars i work on!

Thanks for the heads up. I ordered two sets. You guys make it difficult for a guy to keep money in his tool fund.

Chevy uses them for transmission bell housing, torque converter, and a bracket that prevents you from removing the transmission pan. They use a female torx plus socket for the nuts holding down the seat. 1999 and up big pickups.

Are you talking about the bracket that hold the shifter linkage on the 4L60E/4L65E's? I thought those were regular Torx! I didn't have any trouble removing them with a normal Torx socket and I never thought to look at them once I got the off. Thanks for pointing that out to me.

Where did you get them? These posts are from early 2010. Or am I just missing something?

I bought them from autopart.com which is a dealer for cta tools as well as some regular torx sockets. They where $29.
