I saw some transmission pan plastic guide "bolts" on a truck show on the SPEED network but can't find them on the internet. The basic idea is that they hold the pan and gasket with these plastic guides so you can put the bolts in. Anyone know what I am talking about?

Advance auto sells them. I can't remember what they call them but felpro does make them. There was a thread a couple months ago and I posted a link in it to them. Can't remember the name advance auto calls them and it took 20 minutes of searching last time. I'll see if I can find that post for you.

Those are interesting. Never seen them before. Why do they have male thread on the bottom?

I would assume you thread the holders in to the pan and then press the pan on. After you had a few bolts in you would remove them.

Snap On used to sell Gasket Klips that worked really great. the metal clips held the gasket in place so you could position the pan without it moving. They would work pretty well in conjunction with the AutoZone clips.

I wish they still sold these somewhere.

Pretty sure these will hold the gasket in place also. If you look at them they thread into the block and then have a 1/2" or so space and then a lip. So the gasket can slide on and sit on the lip while you put the pan on.

When there was a risk of the gasket shifting on pans, we tied a string through a couple of the holes to keep it in place. The string could be cut off after starting a few bolts in their holes. Same thing?

Signcrafter,

Thanks for the PM about these Klips on E-bay. Pretty neat when a two year old request for a long discontinued item pays off. I bought some and figured that others here may want some so here is a link.

This. been doing it this way forever. I use a few small zip ties. great way for oil pans as well.
