I will be sending a trial dead blow extender to Bobioz1 and Kythri. I will send a PM to each person to get the particulars on shipping. If for some reason Bobioz1 and Kythri want to pass on doing some testing, I'll run the RandomSelection to find another victim. It be great to get some more feedback in this thread from those who currently have an extender, as well as feedback on the two going out once I have addresses.

Thanks everybody.

We have another person up for a dead blow extender, if Junkman wants to do some testing, one will be coming his way.

Thanks for posting up the give-away, Trusty-Cook. Please update this thread when the extenders are commercially available. I'll take two.

I’ve been interested in one of these since you first showed them awhile back. I think I could find several uses for one. I could use one in the shop and in the service truck.

I could deal with the red if I had to. It may not match all the TC green that’s in my hammer drawer. But as long as it gets the job done. I’d really like to hear more about it if they’re coming into production. Any ideas on prices? I’d be great to pair one with another new green hammer.

Count me in for one of those too when they're available.

Well, my dead blow extender showed up this past Monday, and while I haven't had a TON of opportunity to use it, I did use it to pretty great effect yesterday, knocking the front rotors off a truck I was doing the brakes on.

Rotors were rusted/heated on pretty good, pounding the front face of them wasn't doing much, and the back side was protected by the thin shield.

Was able to use the narrow end of the extender on the edge/lip of the rotors, and then pounding on the wide end, and after a few whacks, they came right off.

As said, not much of a test yet, but it's already came in handy, and when these start being sold, I'll be buying another couple of them (one for my Dad, at least!).

For what it's worth, I think I'd prefer the style I was sent (as shown in the OP), rather than the other potential variants shown in another thread.

More to come!

Looks like a great tool for farm repairs. I often use a 2x4 with one end cut down to get into tight spots.

Nupla makes a pair (Light-duty, 89710, Heavy-duty 89714) of handleless deadblow hammers. I REALLY LIKE the idea of one steel end, one "soft" "non-marring" end. Problem is that they appear to be both too short and too light. The HD hammer is less than one pound. I gotta admit, the price is RIGHT, but what's the point if it isn't a suitable tool for the application? Claimed to be "Made in USA".

ProForm sells a <2lb deadblow "Piston Installation Tool" 67571. The hand-grip is straight, no texture or ergonomic fitting to the hand, so I imagine an oily hand sliding down the shank with each impact. Not too sure of the "Nylon" construction, either. I'm calling it overpriced at $55, and doubly-so because "ProForm" is likely an Asian import.

Seems like the same product with a "Powerhouse" brand name is $30 at Summit...

...but I still don't like the overall shape.

Trusty-Cook gets theirs right, I'm in for one.

I bought one of those Pro Form dead blows about 12 years ago when we were dirt track racing, not very impressive for the money. I found myself still using a wooden hammer handle for removing pistons most days......

Thought we were going to get some feedback from the freebies that were sent out? I don’t want this project to die.

I haven't had another opportunity since my last feedback, but I've got several maintenance projects coming up soon, so if there's a use, I'll certainly post feedback!

I will say that I recently bought the Summit-branded extended deadblow hammer that Trusty-Cook manufactures (SUM-SL32), and it's pretty nifty!

OK, here’s some Feedback...
I got one of the prototypes last year. Been trying to come up with uses ever since.
Short of tapping out pistons, I’ve not come up with many uses that I couldn’t do without it.
The pictures in this thread do not look like the prototype I have.
Here’s mine.

Next to a #3 and #4 it looks big.

I feel like the handle is too long.
If the handle was really short - say 5” long, it could be used for bumping things that needed a little persuasion without the swing of a hammer.

Another thought, I think a handle with a steel end (like one side of the flat/flat hammers) would be REALLY awesome.

We've been waiting interminably for a mold. Guess what we picked up today? More to follow next week.

Hope all is well with everybody.
