But when I went back to the store to swap the TRW’s they told me “we don’t sell them anymore”.

Has any one else had a similar experience with TRW or other tool manufacturer?

Yes, but with a different outcome. My first good tools were Penncrafts (made by New Britain) bought new when I got my first car in '68. Decades later, I finally broke a 3/8 ratchet. By then JCPenney's was long out of the tool business. I took it to the store, asked what could be done. No problem; they handed me a voucher for the closest Craftsman equivalent. Off to Sears, no sweat.
When I broke my second Penncraft, it was using a chrome socket on an air wrench - somehow I just didn't feel right trying to warranty it.

My wife also had a Penney's Lifetime Guaranteed Battery in her '91 Explorer. They also got out of the car business, but made the same deal with Firestone for battery replacement. She warranteed several, but finally got caught in a situation where she had to replace that battery NOW!! and there was no JCP around. Oh, well. (she still has that Explorer for her daily driver.)
