Trying to maximize interior height - thoughts on my design

My town restricts me to no taller than 15' high accessory structure.

I would like to install 1 - 2 car storage lifts, side by side.

I have planned/hoped that I could install the garage doors in such a way that they would "climb" the gable roof so that my usable interior height is maximized.

Will that work with the attached plans as they are currently drawn?

If not, any suggestions?

Any garage door manufacturer can make the garage door "follow the contour of the ceiling". My advice is to call whoever is supplying your doors and talk to them

The tracks are easy enough to cut and fit to follow the roof line. Just takes time.
Probably make all of the "bends" by cutting up a 90 degree bend.

Yes, the doors can follow the contour of the ceiling. It requires a different radius for the track. If you want to keep as much space as possible in the ceiling area, consider using a jack-shaft opener.

Another option is a roll-up door; maybe even carriage doors.

I would probably reconsider that pitch for the roof- think snow load!

Go with a flat roof, or attach to the house.

The drawings you linked to are illegible, at least for me

The drawings appear to show the roof supported by rafters with rafter ties. Depending on the depth of the building that would be a bit more difficult, but still doable.

The other option would be a design with a clear span between the trusses... like this:

I am starting a similar garage. Max height 15' and when I talked to my garage door contractor he said it was possible to follow the roof. He just asked me the roof pitch and mine is 7 and he said OK.. He gave me a price with a torsion spring and I will call him to measure and order when the building is up.

He said he does this type of install when guys are stacking cars..

My 30 x 40 x 12 "stick built" uses scissor trusses and has a door like shown in Lakeroadster's photo. Nothing special, contractor took care of as a matter of fact.

I also wanted lots of inside height.
I went with a roof beam framing and 10 foot walls and 4.12 pitch
This gave a 14 foot max to the inside peak .

I just ordered my 10Wx8H door at Menards with follow the pitch tracks.
Because of the size it was a special order anyway.
They wanted wall height and roof pitch.
Door came with great install instructions.

AND

True, structural ridge beam with rafters. Although probably not required, I would have a short collar tie between opposing rafters.
