Nice! Put a decent propane grill outside and some type of shower/sink/toilet and you have everything you could ever need (well, except maybe a garage to keep your tools and cars in).

Holy Cow!!! It makes my 14' Tuff Shed look completely under-utilized!!! WELL DONE!! Does that thru-the-wall unit provide heat as well as A/C?? Love the way this is finished out.

Just WOW!
Seldom do room redo's cause my heart to beat faster, but this one did (And I'm a designer).
The series of photos really showed the transformation.

The seat has room for 2. Do you have someone special to fill the other spot?

Tell us more about your story.

And welcome to GJ. Great first post!

I am totally jealous ! What an AMAZING transformation !!!!

You must not live "up north" as I don't see any heat source. No ladder to the loft, which would be imperative to me, a profound napper.

What are the original dimensions ?

In 2009, I suffered a stroke (from aura migraines) and lost everything. I picked myself up as best I could and as a project to help me have peace I created this room. Just thought I would share.

"a stroke (from aura migraines)" , I haven't heard of this before. I googled and noticed that I have on occasion had some of the symptoms such as, Tunnel vision, and Scotoma.

Kind of scary..

From the looks of that room, I would not have thought "lost everything". That's a sweet little setup.

OUTSTANDING!!!

Where do you have this 'Little house on the Tuffy' located? Water Source? etc? or was this some kind of addition to a current house?

Well my friend, welcome, very sorry to here of your misfortune. Thank God you still have the creativeness and ability to put together such a masterpiece, very inspiring and a job well done.

Looking forward to seeing your thread on the room addition when that time comes!

exterior pics?
I'm torn between;
wanting it to look rugged and used so it's un-suspecting until you open the doors
or
it looking like the highest class "shed" one could imagine... course your imagination seems to be untamed.

I could definitely see myself putting one of these in the backyard one day, for when I need to get away from it all.

job well done

For the ladder to your loft.....have you considered something like what is used in a toy hauler type trailer? Super light weight and compact enough to stick in a corner or toss on the bed when not in use. Has hooks on the end to keep it secured to the rail.
Something like this http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000CAOFFO/?tag=atomicindus08-20

On another note, good job on making the best out of a F'd situation. I applaud you for that.

After the first two pics I thought. "Hey, I have a Tuff Shed just like this." By the end I was thinking..."I'm not worthy. I'm not worthy!" That's a badass place. You should send Tuff Shed some pics they might use your space in ads or something. It makes me rethink my little red shed I have so underappreciated its potential.

And like x12 on the Voltron! Form Blazing Sword! That's a blast from the past.:rocker:

I would LOVE to hear all the details as to what make and model everything is, and what is in cabinets etc. I like the night lighting behind and below things. How'd you do that?

Is it safe from the prying eyes and ears of the neighbors?

I have to hit the can first thing in the morning. Is it a sprint across the yard for you?

Do you keep clothes, linens and food in the house?

A very nice transformation from a basic shed. I'm guessing you don't need to have the volume up too far when watching a movie ?

Its a 10x12. 14 height.

The ladder i use is mounted outside. I would like to have one mounted someway to the loft, but haven't figure out a way to do it, and save space.
If your place wasn't so incredibly AWESOME I would say, build a ladder and connect it to the loft with hinges. Use a rope and some pulley to pull it up out of the way.

Dumb suggestion in such a nice place.

Wow....I'm humbled by all the kind comments. Thanks guys.

Been raining last few days so can't take a picture of the outside.....But its pretty much is identical to this one minus the double doors. Mine is a single.

Not yet, but you never know what the future holds. Plus my dog is not about to give up his spot. :p

Not much to say...so I'll keep it simple. I'm 33, an use to work as an electronic engineer. Always suffered from aura migraines but one 16 hour day at work an I was hit with one that was a doozey. Lost feeling and grip in both hands as well as lost sight. Spent about a week in the hospital recovering. Both feeling and eye sight returned, but still suffer from migraines every few days and blind spots. My hospital bills towered up to 50,000 and up (now days you get sick you go broke) as well my doctors stated I am susceptible to aneurysm, you can get the logistics of the rest.

So long story short, after walking through home depot, trying to think of a way to not be homeless...I saw the sheds which spark the idea. So with what was left in my savings, a close friend of mine allowed me to put the shed in his backyard, with access to house and I've been here ever since.

Awesome build!

Sorry to hear about your luck but great to see that your making the best of it.

The lighting is led strips that I got from Ikea. The wires go through the wall to a surge protector that comes with a wireless remote. So I can turn on the lights from anywhere in the room.

Yeah...i'm pretty safe. I know all my neighbors. My friend (roommate) works at the police department and my other really nice neighbor happens to be a deputy sherrif, Go figure.

The rest room is like 10 feet away through the back sliding glass door. Just like folks leave their room to get to the bathroom.....not much different on my end.

Are you kidding? A movie is not a movie, unless you're blasting those speakers! :deathmeta. All kidding aside tho, you are correct. You don't need to have the volume up to much. But if you did, all that insulation I did, really helped to make it noise proof.

Very nice work and making a home for yourself. You will fit in here since you like to build things it looks like. I am sure you have created more than one thought from the membership that maybe I can build this behind the garage and .... You know?

I hope you have enjoyed reading many of the posts here.

Very awesome shed, I don't think I could give enough praise to you for doing this and not becoming a bum. Truly amazing, and very inspiring.

For a ladder to the loft you could do something similar to a boat swim platform ladder. It would obviously need to be a little more sturdy, but something like so:

That or the ones that telescope but just folds between 180* up and down. You could most likely source a heavy duty one, or create one. I think it could work well
