Anyone have a tv mounted in their garage? Are there any disadvantages to mounting a plasma or led in the garage? Excessive dust or something else i;m not thinking of?

I have a 32 LCD in the garage. I did not purchase it for the garage, but rather it was made available as a result of an upgrade of a TV in the house. It is about 6 or 7 years old now and it has survived to this date. It is a Sharp Aquos if that matters.

I have a 17" in between these upper cabinets. 5yrs old now. It's lcd. I kept the plastic bag it was wrapped in and use it as a dust cover when it's not on. I also have it on a telescoping and rotating bracket. I have no heat and reach below zero on occasion to well over 100 in the summer. Still works great.

Got one in garage with cheapest setup possible . . . old school tube TV and digital converter with antenna. Got $40 in the whole setup and get 40 channels over-the-air for free.

TV's are free on CL . . . I've gotten 3 that way and last 2 were Sony Trinitron with fabulous picture (25" to 30") . . . but HEAVY & big that I use in house.

Got smaller tube TV 19" in garage that I'm looking to get sturdy bracket that swivels on wall. When not in use, just throw a towel over to limit dust.

60" LCD. Shop is lit well, so I selected LCD over plasma to get better performance under brightly lit situations.

A 42" LCD on an articulating mount. It's the cheapest one Walmart had in that size. Garage is unheated most of the year and the humidity get fairly high in the summer here. So far, so good - on year 3 with it up. I also ran the Sony surround sound system out of our hold house. The surround sound see's more use than the TV.

Ive got a 50" screen mounted on my garage wall. My detach isn't heated though, so I bring it in during the winter months when temps drop below freezing.

Just a little 22", but it is HDTV, and I use it all the time. Also kept the plastic dust cover from the box and it has lasted a like three years now...

P.S. - a quick search here will reveal a ton of threads on this subject!

Mine is nothing fancy, just an old CRT TV to replace the one that died. It was free and free is usually good. If or when it dies, it'll get replaced with whatever comes along, either another free or low priced one.

I have a 32" LCD that I picked up free, remote and all, from a college dumpster late one Spring. (in fact I grabbed five that day when I noticed some rich graduate tossing it at the end of the semester. -I gave the other four to Goodwill)

I have a 25 yr old Emerson TV in the corner, has a Satellite feed. This wires into a Sherwood 200W per channel receiver, with triaxial and four way speakers, 6 total. Sounds great. I like watching old Magnum PI reruns. LMAO

32" black Friday special LCD has survived three years now. Garage is heated with a wood stove when I'm there and probably drops to ambient (-20 degrees) later in the winter when I'm away.

Still works fine.

Old school tube TV in my detached VW garage and a 20" old school tube Sony in the attached garage. Had just a 13" in my other house in the garage.

i got a freebie tube tv (can get them for free all day on CL) in mine. nothing fancy, just a 20" or something like that to have some noise or something to watch when i'm out there.

i have "heard" that plasmas &/or lcd's not doing well in very cold environments, but i don't know if that's true.
